  1. lewis, as brad said you did good. thanks for all the hard work. bill :clap2:
  2. hey kirby, i ride about 25,000 miles a year, when i go a distance over 200 miles, and i take my wife with me i trailer because she has major health problems,(like 4 brain aneurysms) and can't go any farther than that. i hate for her to even get on the bike, but she insists on doing it for me. i ride rain or shine all year round. i'll ride till the black ice moves in. than i only ride in the daylight hours. i ride almost every day of the week. i figure i am a real biker because i live eat and sleep them 24 -7. not because i go out looking to be tough or a hard a--. i build them, ride them, dream about them, have alot of commeraderie with other bikers, and i even ride a lowly motor scooter. i don't know what a real biker is supposed to be, but i think i fill the bill. ps. if some one just wants to say they own a bike. thats their right. i will still respect them and wave at them on the road. to me they are a biker. :clap2: snarley bill
  3. hey condor, i would'nt waste my breath on an a-hole like goose. i would'nt lower my self to his level. i was riding when he was a thought in some ones mind. a bad thought at that. :rotf::rotf::rotf::rotf: snarley bill
  4. he will probably get a jeffrey dammer job before then. those guys ain't well accepted in prison.
  5. if there are nearby motels that would be fine with me. at vogel there weren't that many cabins. alot of us stayed at one motel. and met at the park everyday. we wil find the party where ever it is. one thing i ain't is picky. bill :clap2:
  6. fine job lewis it looks brand new. :clap2:
  7. my fuel light has'nt come on in years. :rotfl::rotf:
  8. yeppers, that works best. if you are figuring on doing the rally take a weeks vacation and you will have time to relax and wind down when you get home. hey brad, you finally found some one to let you on a committee. . love ya buddy.
  9. got it on my list too. the date doesn't. matter. i have almost a year to make it work.
  10. don, linda and i are still praying for your full recovery. bill
  11. i understand where your coming from living in california. meets are slim out there. we have the same problem with the cushman meets. the big problem is your not only on one side of the usa, but your way on one side of the usa. if there was an international in ca i would venture to say there would not be much of a turn out. it is a big desolate area that has to be crossed to get there. the one in fort collins was not that far. maybe in years to come we should have two major meets about 500 miles from each coast. some one in california needs to get the ball rolling and put together a big meet out there to see how it works out. i put on a couple of meets every year around the midwest including this years international. i am putting a big meet on at meramec state park next year and a meet and eat at the hub in ar.. put on the meet and they will come. it may take a couple of years to grow, but it will happen.
  12. wait till you get old. the time really flies. they always told me that, and it is true.
  13. hey, kevin, sounds like your the man. if their is any thing i can help you with just give me a holler. big piece of advice try to keep it simple, and write everything down as you go. it sure is easy to forget things ove the period of a year. if you do the meet, good luck, it will be alot of fun planning it. bill :clap2:
  14. i think she is relieved. she thinks i'm dangerous.
  15. kind of been wanting the bagger look for awhile. so while i was on my morning ride on my nomad, i did a little daydreaming and design engineering. came home and took the backrest and rear seat off the nomad and presto instant awesome looking bagger. linda came out in the garage and said where am i going to ride. i said not on here. love the look. got to order some more chrome, today. this is my solo riding toy. no one back there to give orders. course with my luck some good looking gal will need a lift. :rotf:
  16. that titanium looks awful nice in real. i kind of like my dark red metallic. don't know if they still have it.
  17. neat idea. heres an idea ive been wanting to do for years, when i was in the cushman scooter thing. ride route 66 across the united states from start to finish. folks could fall in and out along the way and ride as far as they want to. we would have timed motel stops along the way and party at the stops at night. we would break it up in segments of 400 mile or one state each day, and have a person set up the lodging at the end of each segment. people could fall in at each motel stop. folks could schedule the distance according to what would be convenient for them, vacation time etc. what does everyone think of this. it could turn into a new kind of international rally. for those that do not know about route 66, there are lots of state by state web sites and alot of historic things to see. in missouri we have a society that is restoring alot of the old buildings. all the other states are doing this to. i would be glad to set up the missouri segment. i bet buddy would do oklahoma. it could even start in canada. and the canadians could fall in from the start and ride as far as they want and break off and head back home at any time. just a thought. no frills, no raffles just alot of memorable scenic riding. bill
  18. did'nt know about it. give me some details. may be to cold for this old fart. i will have to wear a sweater.and an insulated diaper.
  19. hope to see you at my meramec state park meet. maybe on that new 3rd gen v-4 venture. i'll settle for cracker barrel in sullivan. :clap2:
  20. this seems to be the same thing that always comes up when planning a meet. we already had some folks step up to the plate to put a meet on at potato creek. if somebody wants to have a meet closer to them. step up to the plate and volunteer. don't always expect some one else to do it. don has the right to make the final decision, and he usually does pretty good. he took alot of things into account when he decided on the 09 rally at the hub. you don't have to live in the area where the meet is. brad lives in michigan and put on the fort collins meet. i live near st. louis mo., and put on the hub meet. if you want a meet in a particular place get off the fence and volunteer, instead of arguing about it. sounds like we have a good group started that stepped up to the plate for potato creek. i commend them. just my 2 cents. bill
  21. larry, i just road to memphis last saturday 640 mile round trip in one day on my wing. could have went another couple of hundred miles. i had no problem with the seat. the venture is a very nice bike but they are getting kind of dated in technology. my main complaint was wallowing in curves when pushed hard do to frame flex and the constant shifting do to lack of low end torque. the wing frame with the engine as a stressed member is rock solid. i push it hard in the curves and it just has a solid feel. mostly two up. there are times that i just want the old fashion motorcycle feel and look so i ride my v-star or nomad. they both have that down low torque. probably won't be buying anymore bikes, gettiing at the age where i won't be riding a whole lot longer, and i just about got the best cross section of rides to choose from. i even have a race prepped kaw zx-14 if i want a real kick in the butt, and a majesty scooter if i want to go to home depot in luxury with out having to shift. i never had a venture but i had a venturized 05 rstd that i put 18,000 miles on and i really loved that bike. it was beautiful. baically the same bike as a venture. i was having major leg issues back then, and it got just to top heavy for me at parking lot speeds. so it had to go before i dropped it.
  22. the only complaint i have on my wing is the leg position, which i have overcome with modified kuryakyn highway boards. buddy has seen them, and he can elaborate if he wants. not quite as good as the venture boards but almost there. i like the venture because it looks more like a bike should look. that is just personal opinion. i have two v-twins a v-star 1300 and a nomad 1600, if i want that look. looks are not that critical cuz i'm not out to impress anyone. if they don't like my bike i don't really care. in all other aspects the new wings will blow the ventures away. not even in the same league, nor is the harley or bmw. not bashing the venture cuz i think they are fine bikes. just got to be honest. i thought about buying a venture but i am addicted to the wing power and sport bike like handling. my favorite ride as of right now is my v-star 1300. it just feels good and does almost everything right. i am not bragging. i thank god every day for the things i have and can do. i love all bikes even the ugly ones. never met a bike i would'nt take home with me. i've brought some crappy ones home to momma. :rotf: snarley bill
  23. if nothing else comes to be, i am putting on the meramec state park meet the last week of august. i would be willing to make it the international meet. it is going to happen either way. the potato creek meet sounds great. i will be glad to help out all i can no matter where it is. it is an awful lot of fun and has alot of ups and downs planning. as brad once told me don't worry about numbers attending. who ever gets the honors, you won't regret doing it. you will have lots of ups and a few downs but when the time comes and the people come it is all worthwhile. good luck to whoever don chooses. to me it was a real honor. bill :clap2:
  24. very well said. :clap2: thank you.
  25. if he is getting rid of it because he has no room, why will he take a car in trade.
