  1. Just got back from the Mid-Atlantic StarBQue in Cornelius, NC....Yamaha had their truck there for demo rides... They also had the new V-Max...one of only two in the US...pic if anyone is interested... George in Virginia... http://picasaweb.google.com/gharbourjr/MidAtlantic_StarBQue_2008/photo?authkey=ikN4fT85r5A#5235624767453912754
  2. AZSpyder & SteveP:: Thanks for the input also...Of course NOW that I know...It makes sense that you and your passenger would not want to push a button to talk to each other...BUT...having not had a headset and setting on her in the garage with the new ones on...this talk into microphone and hear myself in headset...just did not equal 2+2....I asked myself...WHY DO I WANT TO HEAR MYSELF... After reading the Gary N.s reply...I came home this evening walked out and got on the Red Cherry Beast...tuned the IC volume down to "zero" and "magic"...No George in earphones when I talked and I could still do the radio/aux-mp3.... Anyway....I knew that someone here could clear it up for me....Thanks for the input.... Looking forward to using them this weekend on a trip I am taking this weekend... George in Virginia :bowdown::bowdown:
  3. Gary: Thanks for the reply...So let me clarify.... 1. I'm riding along by myself...with radio or aux(mp3) playing tunes....I hear the music OK and when I talk into the microphone I ALSO hear "ME" in the earphones.... 2. I'm riding along by myself...with radio or aux(mp3) playing tunes...AND I have the CB on. I'm riding at the end of a group and the lead rider calls for me to come up front......The way I understand things...The incoming CB transmission "overrides" the music and I hear the other rider.....I hold the "talk" button down and tell the rider I am "on my way"...When the button is down, it "overrides the music again when I "talk"...Note...No rider communication...Just lean back and talk to wife...These are for communication to other bikers with CB..... I hope I'm close...Again...Thanks for the help....The headset will take some getting use too when you are not use to wearing anything but sunglasses... George In Virginia....
  4. Hey Folks: Need some help: I wear a half helmet and wife and I really do not need to have IC/CB for traveling…BUT I have a need this weekend (and past times) to have IC/CB for a group ride….I read posts and just got the IMC HS G45U for half helmets. I know Gary N. has them and gives them two thumbs up…Just using for occasional group riding. Anyway…I read everything in the owners manual and have one question…. When I hook them up…Radio_Aux-CB comes in OK...I can talk into the microphone without pushing the talk button and hear myself in the earphones….Is there something up or this normal.....I can not read anything about this anywhere….This happens when I have the radio on/off…CB on/off….both on/off…makes no difference…Could you experienced IC/CB folks help me out and let me know if this is normal…Again..just talk into the microphone and hear myself in the earphones...Thanks for any help provided.... George In Virginia….
  5. Thanks...I think I have seen this somewhere before, but could not remember...I think it is polished Aluminum.....so...NO RUST? Thanks for the reply... George In Virginia:lightbulb:

  13. Thanks Maineac: Called and talked to their parts guy....very nice and honest upfront....He said on accessories....he could not touch the prices I quoted him on stuff I wanted from http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/ So far they are the cheapest by far...He did say he could beat anyones price on parts...But not on accessoris....Chrome, etc... 14. Hey All: Just wanted to post some info on accessories and prices....I did a check on a couple of Yamaha dealership web sites on some chrome parts I'm ordering...Here is the info I think is important...NOTE...I have been following and checking the prices for about 6 months now... http://www.yamahasportsplaza.com/ I have ordered from them once back in the Spring....I live in Virginia and time and price at the time was less than anyone.....for the parts I want now, their price is $566.09...Shipping from Washington State to Virginia is $24.34....Total price is $590.43 http://www.motorsportssupercenter.com/ Best price I could find....for the same parts the price is $558.54...Shipping from Alabama to Virginia is $18.58.....Total price is $577.12.... I'm going to place the order with the Alabama store tomorrow....I'll see how it goes with them and update this post... George in Virginia....
  15. Thanks for the thoughts....I change out every 3-4 thousand anyway...BUT just wanted to get someone elses perspective on the oil temp....Thanks for your replies... George in Virginia
  16. Hey Folks: Your thoughts if you please...Here in Ole Virginia it has been about 90 +/- 2 or 3 degrees...So I have noticed that the engine case really gets HOT during summer riding...Yesterday we did a ride of about 200 miles and of course the heat from the engine is something I have become accustom to....Today however I made a short 20 mile trip to a local motorcycle shop...spent about 1/2 hour there and rode back.....parked the bike....about 1 to 1 1/2 hours later I decided to go our and cover the bike...I always check the engine case by hand to see if to HOT to put on a cover..(condensation thing)...anyway...Motor was still very warm...I could put my hand on the side, but could not leave there for long....Still pretty warm after almost two hours.... THOUGHT: If oil is gets this hot during short run....What about a LONG summer ride ?..It CAN NOT be good for the engine?....Like most on this site I have never heard the fan kick on...DOES is give anyone else "pause" that these motors get this HOT...Just a thought....I see a lot of mile by a lot of folks...with NO mention of engine temp problems...Again just a thought.... George In Virginia....
  17. Saw the WWW's on a Black Cherry last fall and made mind up to have them this past spring...Makes a BIG difference in looks of the bike.... I also went with the Dunlop's....I read a lot of posts here and ended up asking my Biker Bud that also rides a RSV...He said the Dunlops....NOTE: HE IS A MOTORCYCLE COP, RIDES IN ALL CONDITIONS, WON A BIKE RODEO WITH THE DUNLOPS ON HIS RSV....Enough said... George in Virginia...

  21. Hey Everyone.... Haven't posted for a while folks....vacation, work, just busy...BUT...I have to say how well the bike performed AGAIN...This past Memorial Day weekend...I know a lot here do this on a regular basis, but when the better half and I get a chance for an adventure...they are rare as I own my own business and wife does the nurse thing.... Live here in Lynchburg, VA....Went to Lexington, Ky to see the Kids and grandkids on Saturday..(We are originally from KY)...My idea to go...Wife's idea to ride the Scoot.......410 miles one way....Great weather over and back...Left Saturday AM....Visited on Sunday...Left and came home on Monday....I did an 1100 mile round trip by myself last year and 760 round trip with the wife to NC and the Dragon/Cherohala in October last year.. Just love the bike and just wanted to say so.....AGAIN...75 mps's on Interstate 64 through the hills of WV..Rolling hills of KY...and back again..Bike just rolled on....Wife loves it...and me at 6'5"...240...I just throttled on....could have set in the saddle most of the day except I had to stop and get gas and PEEEE!....Sorry...it is what it is...... Just wanted to post how much you guys/gals helped make up my mind last year (January) when I decided to buy the 06 RSV....It has done EXACTLY as everyone said it would... Wife also enjoyed telling her nursing friends yesterday that WE took a three day trip/ride on the Scoot and did a little over 885 miles round trip AND it was HER idea to take the bike.... NOTE: Added the K&N Filters and Chrome Covers and took to dealer for carb sync....(was getting a little backfire)..ANYWAY...backfire is gone, but I did notice a slight drop on mileage...maybe more 70-75 MPH's....will see how it goes on rides with speeds closer to 55-60... Everyone have a safe riding season... NOTE: Wife and I will be in NC....Dragon/Cherohala....June 19-22....Leaving Lynchburg, VA on Thursday the 19th....Returning the 22nd...I-81 to I-26....Asheville...on to Stecoah, NC....and Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge....Meeting up with two other couples from Charleston, WV that we went with last year...ANYONE in the area...we stay here.. WWW.IRONHORSENC.COM Contact me if anyone in the area then or wants to meet up and ride.... George in Virginia...

  23. Hey Man....Sort of same thing happened to me....I/We were riding a Triumph Bonneville America for about three year....I did most of the riding, but wife loved to go two up... So...in 2006 we make three trips to NC with some friends...He/They ride a Road King... Jan..2007 rolls around and I take her to look at an 06 Venture....She says we can get it..."SHE LOVED THE COMFORTABLE RIDE"....So I go and make a deal to trade in the Triumph...2002 Black..Perfect...Their 100 Anniversary year Bike... Tell the wife the Deal and she says...NO WAY are we trading in the Triumph...I say why not.... OK...in the course of ownership she discovered that Triumph back in the day was THE BIKE...Steve McQueen jumping the fence in the Great Escape and All....NOW shes an EXPERT on Motorcycles.....After her comment....I said..."WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO DEAR... The walked outside...fell to my knees and said....THANK YOU GOD! :cool10::cool10:

  25. I've had my 06 for 14 months....did the Dragon and Cherohala last October....My Bud on his Road King dropped his on one of of those tight turn lookouts...Almost not moving...We (wife and I didn't)...I thought...BOY I'm GOOD....I'm 6'5"...240#...five weeks ago...was backing the bike out to take to dealer for inspection....tipped it JUST A LITTLE to miss the corner of something...DOWN SHE WENT...worst part....the left fairing laid over on a small bush at the corner of the carport a somehow it must of landed JUST RIGHT...punched a hole about an inch in diameter right in the bottom... NEW left faring and $160 dollars later!!! IT HAPPENS!....Thought I would be the one without a fall....NOT... George In Virginia
