  1. ...the 84' has a new owner ""CHET THE JET" and running at 47,800 thereabouts and my 85'that i been robbing parts from and been sitting around at 19,ooo mi.
  2. That second one does look nice. Maybe I'll try pulling everything cept the main fairing... see if that'll give me what I need. Thanks!
  3. trader....no, ahhhh no! LOL Thanks everybody those pics do help. Heres my deal. I got my 84 royale going and put a couple thousand miles on it only to find out I don't like all that fairing. Even with a short shield and some highway pegs, it's just to hot, not enough air flow. So I've got to make a decision, do I remove the fairing or sell the Royale and pick up something like V Star Tourer? I am a bit addicted to that V4 power, this is one quick couch. But I don't know if I wanna put in the work to make a naked Venture. Steve's bike looks sweet, but I don't have those kinda skills.
  4. I'm looking for photo's and general info on Naked Ventures. Searching has revealed nothing. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
  5. Thanks everybody! Reading this thread saved me a lot of time searching for a pump. Just got back from a test ride, after installing one of the Mr Gasket 42S fuel pumps this afternoon. Runs like a mad bull. LOL
  6. I ran in to a similar deal with Yamaha snowmobiles. Each year they came out with a new accessory catalog and all the old part numbers were replaced with new ones, even if the model and the part never changed, they would get a new part number every year. Might be worth looking at a newer catalog.
  7. I can think of one more possibility. If your battery is an AC Delco or similar with that little "eye" that can tell you the state of charge of your battery. Maybe the guy saw it was black and pasted on the info. All that eye does is monitor the level of acid/water in the battery. I'd have it checked by a pro, most do it free. Would suck to find out it is bad when you were about to leave for something important. Does this place even sell batteries?
  8. Just bought a couple of tickets using the Progressive promo, and got the pair for $24 after their $2 fee. Beats $30 Thanks! Son and I will be there Saturday Afternoon sometime.
  9. Although I cant speak to your Venture, there is one common problem with hard starting due to batterys. A battery that has 1 bad cell and 5 healthy cells can sound like it's cranking the motor over at a good speed because the battery still has most of it's cranking power. But, the voltage (during cranking) can drop low enough the ignition system my barely work, but once the motor does start, everything seems just fine. Float chargers are wonderful things.
  10. Got mine, thanks Jack, really appreciate this! For any that haven't seen one, it can only be described in one word... Superbeefyblingbling! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/snow4brains/Bike%20Stuff/SAM_0017Medium.jpg
  11. Being the new guy, I didn't wanna give you any grief about that..... just yet anyhow. he he
  12. Sounds like a plugged heater core. It's a simple check to verify, just start the truck and let it run till the temp gets over 120 or so and then feel the heater hoses. If one or both of the hoses are cool or cold there is something blocking coolant from flowing through the heater core. And with all the gunk you're seeing in the cooling system I'll bet theres a big slug of it in the core. I know you said they flushed the system, but it's VERY common with some of the new equipment out there (read environmentally friendly) that systems don't get flushed as much as they get drained and filled under pressure. Anywho, best way to flush the heater core is pulling both heater hoses at the motor/radiator, stick the hose that was warmer into a bucket and connect a garden hose to the other, and turn the hose on SLOWLY. Some city water pressure can go over 35PSI, safe cooling system pressure = 15PSI, just be careful and don't rush it. If it's plugged you'll know right away LOL you'll normally get a big old PLOP and then the water starts flowing, just let er run for a minute or two. Hope this helps. edit; a plugged heater can also make the gauge swing more than normal.
  13. Paypal? I was thinking about using my on-line bill payer. My CU would mail you a check (like a cashiers check) and you're not hit with any fees. Sound OK? PM me which ever payment details I'll need. And Thank You for doing this, very cool of you, especially this time of year. Like theres not enough to do already.
  14. Sounds like a worn bearing/hub assembly from here. Best way to pinpoint which side, is to jack up one side at a time and run it up until you hear it. Pretty common problem these days.
  15. I like it. The black in the dash, seat, trim, tires and bags just ties it all together. Kinda like choosing a 55 Chevy over a 57 Chevy, clean simple and functional rules.
  16. Nice to see so much support for this young man!
  17. Nope it's got a clean green title and the numbers match. I've looked over the frame carefully and don't find any hints of bends/road rash/repairs and nothing out of place.
  18. OK the VIN# has the 41V which the manual says is an XVZ12DL and thats a Royale far as I can tell. The CLASS is all there and functions, compressor and all. The antenna is broken off but the mount and coaxial are still there. The rear floor boards are my addition, the queen needs to be happy. It's been repainted, and mostly done right. Emblems/hardware were removed before paint not just taped off. The stereo is..... well....? Something to laugh at for sure. LOL Most of the miss matching seems to be the body panels, so far. But it's mechanically sound and that works for me, I've had very very few good looking vehicles in my life, no sense changing now.
  19. OK here we go. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/snow4brains/Bike%20Stuff/VentureR2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/snow4brains/Bike%20Stuff/VentureR1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/snow4brains/Bike%20Stuff/VentureR.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/snow4brains/Bike%20Stuff/VentureR3.jpg At least it's not an 8-track! LOL http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v378/snow4brains/Bike%20Stuff/VentureR4.jpg
  20. I thought I did pretty good, picked it up for $700 starts, runs, drives, stops, air susp works, cruise works, all lights work, looks get a 7 or 8 out of 10. But the pipe from the H-box to the LH muffler is broken off and the guy mentioned having the part to fix it and a couple of other odds and ends also. So he starts dragging out parts, first is an h-box with 1 frt head pipe still in it, cool right? Next comes a milk crate full of (not sure haven't looked all over yet) crash bars, tail light trim pieces etc, nice. Here comes a frt wheel, tire, rotors, brgs, axle, awesome! I got a little more he says... now he hauls out a couple different color side panels, a saddle bag, bottom of a top box and some other odds and ends. We done? Just one more thing..... and he "rolls" out the back third of a VR! Nothing much ahead of the rear swing arm but most the bits behind are there, except seat/bags/lights.... Glad I had a good sized trailer heck I was 130+ miles from home. LOL I know right. I'll get some asap. I even took a camera along for the test drive and didn't take 1 pic, cant believe it. lol
  21. Well, it's not just a Royale... It's MY Royale! Took it for a few mile test ride and all the important bits worked good. So it's home now and I've got all winter to get her into tiptop shape. Now comes the hard part.... finding some time to work on it. LOL
  22. I'll be a supporting member in a few days, you can put me down for one.
  23. Well, I'm going to go get a close up look at her in a few days, complete with test ride. I'll update what it is and how it runs out. THANKS!
  24. Yeah, I wasn't able to get close enough to get a model# or mileage. It did have an emblem that had something like XVZ1200 but I'm not sure. I'll have to get a better look and maybe a test drive. Thanks!
