  1. Actually a couple of us were comparing the two at Freebirds MD and for all intents and purposes we concluded that the boxes were the same even the holes were drilled in the same places. The differecnce is (A) the parts bolted to the trunk which appear to be fully interchangeable. Any of the unused holes depending on what pieces are attached just have rubber plugs in them. (B) the mounting rack which for the most part is also identacle with the exception that the 85 rack has the additional latch allowing the trunk to be removed and used as a carry case. this appears to simply be an extra part welded to the some frame as used on MKII 86 - 93.
  2. What you can't get those anymore either?
  3. Does anyone have a spare for a 1st gen in case I screw up or regret doing it. :bang head:
  4. According to the yamaha online parts catalog http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/service/servicehome/home.aspx if it is for a 1984 it takes the same same switch as the 1987. Old part number is 41R-82540-0100 new updated part number is 41R-82540-0200 aftermarket part numbers that applie to both years are 1185858 and 41864-001 1983 does take a different part number that number is 1L9-82540-00-00
  5. I have run a TOM TOM rider 2 for three years now in conjuction with the scala rider and my cell phone and all three work great together. The only downside of the rider is that there is no external speaker and no connection for one. when used for intercom and gps gps comands will take priority over chat.
  6. Happy Birthday Mini..
  7. Something I have never understood is why crotch rockets have passanger seats and worse why anyone would perch themselves upon one of these tiny seats to start with. Wether you are exposed to extreme cold or extreme heat, the one thing that is of the utmost importance is to drink plenty of fluid (preferebly water). In the heat water evaporates (sweat) to help cool the body. In the wind the body also gives off water to prevent the skin from drying out. People have also dehydrated in the extreme cold. DRINK lots of WATER and wear protective gear.
  8. If its a really expensive one its mine if its a cheap one someone else can say its theirs :witch_brew:

  17. Let me add my thanks to the pile as well (before it gets to big). Don and Eileen as always you have done a fanatastic job. It felt more like a warm family reunion then an MD. It was a great weekend, spent with great people, too many to remember or even getting around to spending more time with. So many people I got to chat with, but so many more I only got to simply say hi to, and wished I had got to spend more time with. In the end my goodbyes were sort of rushed, and for that I appologize, but the group I was riding with were ready to roll and waiting on me. See you all next year if not sooner Ben
