  1. Thanks to a 3 day weekend I only have 2 items left to go before I can take her for a spin. I spent the last 3 days working on putting her all back together. Had to take some parts off a couple of times because I missed putting a couple of things on..........very frustrating. Waiting on the rear master brake cyl, and the throttle cables to arrive, hopefully I will be riding it next weekend, short little spins at first, but everything works like it should, ran it through the gears while up on the center stand and she shifts as good if not better than when I got her 8 years ago. I have never owned a bike this long, and have never taken the engine apart and changed a tranny, not really hard, but I dont want to do it again. Got lots of help from the tech section here, and help from some very helpful members.
  2. Yep, I think he raised the hackles of quite a few of us here on VR, he knew how to push all the right buttons............got me a few time too...........
  3. Thanks Gary, I guess I was trying to put it on backwards, that's why the hole wasn't big enough for the bolt to go through.........Tomorrow back to work, Hopefully by Monday it will be hole again. Just need to wait for the throttle cables and master cylinder to arrive. Thanks again Gary!!
  4. Thats a wild looking wing...................
  5. Ok, this is dumb, but on the 83 Venture there is a part of the frame that goes from right under the seat in front of the master brake cylinder to the forward part of the frame, the side covers attach to this peice. Now I am putting it back together and I know where to mount the rear portion, but cannot for the life figure out where the front was mounted......I have taken it off several time in the past, but for the life of me I cannot remember where it connects, it reaches the front motor mount but the hole isnt big enough for the bolt to go thru...........can anyone supply a picture of their 83 with the sidecover off so I can see where it goes..............I took some picture but not of this................:bang head:

  12. Eck my good friend, there are other things you will be remembered for, one that comes to mind is a tap dance you did with your 2nd Gen at Vogel one nite.........remember that? I sure do, with all them led lights flashing and you dancing it was a sight to behold......and you did it in front of a very large number of VR members..................
  13. I am jealous, I still have 2 years 3 months and 22 days before I can retire, according to the wife.............Congratulations, tell Dale to get the bike ready, your going to have plenty of time to ride..........
  14. I didnt answer your question, no I dont need the res. just the master cylinder. Thanks again Bob. what would we do without this great VR family.
  15. Have you got a lot of parts left?
  16. Thanks Bob, at least let me pay for the shipping. You got a list of what you got, maybe I could use something else and I would gladly pay for it.
  17. Bob I can wait a few days, just dont want to wait on ebay, only auctiont there for one was just started. How much, and do you want the old one in exchange?
  18. Got the bike running like it should, I couldnt believe how quick it settled down to a nice idle. But now I need a rear master brake cylinder, this one is leaking and I cant get it to pump enough pressure to get any pedal to the rear brake at all. So, if anyone has one laying around for a 83 1st. gen.......shoot me a price...........I looked on fleabay, but they want way too much, and I cant wait for an auction to end. I wanna get the beast back together and ride, I forgot what it like to ride a big old bike like the Venture..........
  19. Our thoughts and prayers are with your mother and your family. He will point them in the right direction. Lewis & Charlene
  20. Got the new battery in, and after a short charge she started up..........that takes a load of my mind. Now I am having problem pumping up the rear brakes, cant get the fluid to the rear caliper, I can hear it pumping air into it, but no fluid, I tried every trick I new and nothing, did everything short of tearing the cylinder down, but it was working perfectly before I tore the bike down for the repair. I am open to suggestions................PLEASE!!!
  21. Another successful evening working on the Venture, it starting to look like a motorcycle now. Got all the brakes, shift linkage, drive shaft, installed. Added oil to the engine. turned the key on, the computer display lit up, so all the wiring is right, hit the starter button, zip. battery didn't have the juice, so its on the charger, will try again today, if not new battery will be going in it. I can't believe how much progress a few hours a day can accomplish. Should have been doing it that way all along. I only plan on spending a couple of hours on it each evening but end up doing about 4 hours or better, after 10 hours at work then 4 out in the shop, I have no problem sleeping. Plan is to have ir ready to ride by Monday, thats if the throttle cables get here in time.:dancefool:
  22. I thought something was fishy, I was showing too many completed auctions, and still had a bunch active............
  23. Never any surprises here anynore, Thanks for the support. It a good looking rack doesnt look low tech or inexpensive....:mo money:.....I think it would make a great addition to anyone's bike.
  24. I got ambitious after I got home from work today, got the exhaust system back on the bike, and the radiator and cooling system back on, waiting on the throttle cables to arrive. starting to look like a motorcycle again.
  25. Peggy, did you bid on one of these auctions, I thought I saw your name on one, but when I went back to look, some of the auctions disappeared............I thought I saw a pin and a shirt at $11.00, or was that from the previous auctions.........???
