  1. Hey darthandy, they tried delivering that package to me earlier this month, I didn't want it so I forwarded it to you. -Andrew
  2. I'd go for 2-3 of them, they look very nice. -Andrew
  3. Alrighty then, thanks. I'll have to get the registration mailed off soon. Ok, one more question. Are the t-shirts just for the adults ($50) or for the kids too ($25)? -Andrew
  4. I have some, but probably not the ones you need. I got them out of a spare engine but I needed smaller (thinner) ones when I did my valves. All of mine are thicker, like 275, 280 & 290 but usually you need thinner ones like 270 or 265 (your current ones are probably 275s & 280s). -Andrew
  5. Ok, I had a rough idea about what the cost might be but I forgot that I was dragging the whole family along. Soooo, is there a discount for wee ones, like under 3 free... -Andrew
  6. Hmmm, that's in Canadian. According to Bob & Doug's math, you'd double it and add 32 to get American. So (26.3 x 2) + 32 = 84.6 inches. WOW, that's a big fish! :rotf:I'd like to have seen the 1st place one! -Andrew (Yeah, yeah, I know, that's 10.35". Nice catch)
  7. So the PNW, is that near Maine or Rhode Island? Hope to sea all you coasters here in the flat state of IL for the Int. Rally. -Andrew
  8. No cameras = no proof. Sounds like a fisherman's dream. "It was bigger than a..." Congrats on placing 15th! Maybe next time you'll get the big one and a pic too. -Andrew
  9. Ok, I put 50-100, but what I want to say is if there is something to see that would make it a 150-200 mile round trip one day, I have no issue with that, nor would a 25 mile trip not be taken because it's too short. Or several 100 mile trips in one day. If I could I'd click all of them. I'm open to a wide range of miles. Except no IronButt 1000 runs... -Andrew
  10. Ok, before I get any more PMs, I just want to state that most of the aftermarket goodies I was planning on using. They are what caught my eye and influenced my decision to get the parts bike. My bike has broken or is missing a bunch of stuff, and doesn't have much "bling". I gotta go thru these parts on a nice day (notice that s*** on the ground) and figure what I want off it. So the chrome rotor covers, chrome thingy under the saddle bags, the mirrors, passenger grab bars, whole front end, etc already are claimed for my bike. I'm sorry if I made it sound like I was putting the whole thing up for grabs, I was just showing off my find. Once I got a list of the leftovers, I'll list it. Again, I'm sorry, I usually don't get good windfalls like this and I was just sooo excited. Orlin, any extra usuable goodies I'll bring along to the WI MD. -Andrew
  11. Those aftermarket parts are what got me to buy it. Having extra parts like rims, rotors, calipers, gauges, etc. just sweetened the deal. A titled frame is nice too. As for color, my white bike needed a new coat of paint anyways, who knows what color it'll be for the rally... -Andrew
  12. In 2011 our family did a ND/SD trip, camping and driving a minivan. No bikes. We stayed in Hill City at Horse Thief campground. We were out there the week before it started, and as the week progressed, Hill City started getting crowded. That's about 45 min away from Sturgis and even there it was getting busy. So if you want to go for the experience of Bike Week, go. But if you want to enjoy the area, see sights, ride w/o crowds, go at another time. Oh, and in 2011 it was a VERY HOT & DRY summer, you might want to do it earlier in the year (June/early July) when it should be cooler. And yes, they have "special" rates just for Bike Week. -Andrew
  13. Well, this morning I went and picked up a parts bike that had a bunch of extra stuff. The guy was using the motor for a project and didn't need the rest. He was building a tractor (think larger lawn tractor size) with the motor for tractor pulls. He took the engine & all the parts needed to run it. So I now have all the leftover parts from that. Plus his buddy built one using a '83 bike, so I got some leftovers from that too. Of course gotta have pics or it didn't happen. http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc499/icebrrg3rd/VenturePartsBike/VenturePartsBike01.jpg http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc499/icebrrg3rd/VenturePartsBike/VentureParts01.jpg http://i1214.photobucket.com/albums/cc499/icebrrg3rd/VenturePartsBike/VentureParts04.jpg Not bad for $150. Plus I got a title for the bike, so in the future it could be re-engined. It is missing the left upper fairing, but most of the rest of the plastic is in better condition than mine. Oh, not shown is a set of mirrors, mufflers, windshield, gauge cowl, engine guards. No, the stuff is not perfect, tho, but it's 30 year old stuff. So there is a lot of "bling" I can add to my bike, I'm going to have fun once it warms up a bit more. Then any extras I will offer up here. -Andrew
  14. Is just once on the first day enough or do we have to go OCD and rsvp every day we're there? BTW, staying the whole week. -Andrew
  15. Welcome & congrats. Also, you can hit the WI MD being held in Viroqua (SW WI) the last weekend of June. Just click on the Calendar for June, check it out! -Andrew
  16. The 1st gens have to have a restrictor plate in them to keep them under 220... -Andrew
  17. My Venture I call "Great White" because of it's color and shark-like look and attitude, with a nickname of Sebring2, because it replaced my Sebring convertible. The 650 Maxim I call "Green Beast" because she's not the prettiest but she's taken all I given out and comes back for more. And she's green. My Astro I call "Rustic Red" (RUSTic, get it?) and the wife's Caravan "Baby Blue", cause if I drive it too hard she says don't hurt her baby. -Andrew
  18. As for draining the torque converter, a tip I saw on Powerblock TV (Spike weekend mornings) is to drill a small hole (1/8") in the torque converter to drain it, then use a 1/8" sealed head aluminum rivet to seal it back up. Use a new bit and a touch of grease to reduce/trap shavings. I am just relaying this, do so at your own risk. -Andrew
  19. Yeah, I know first hand bout them cajun wimmen, I was stationed at Ft Polk, LA in the late 80's. Naive young northerner in a foreign place, very dangerous... -Andrew
  20. Plus didn't the V-Max use the 1200cc motor, not the 1300 as claimed in the ad? Altho I'd go for it, nice matching paintjob on the hack. -Andrew
  21. SMS Popup is what I am using (pretty sure that's it, I installed it 1 1/2 years ago). Nice thing about it I can customize the message alert just like a ringtone, so I can have it ring different tones to tell who's sending it. Works well, just have to shut off the text notifications in the stock phone settings, otherwise you'll get double notifications. If your phone is on but the screen is dark, it will light up with the caller's id and a portion of the message. You can access it right then, or it will fade back off but still be the first thing you see when you wake your phone back up until you reply or cancel it. I like it. -Andrew
  22. Yeah, that! I'm waiting on someone to answer it too! I've got no clue. -Andrew
  23. Hmmmm, did you know: Eck® comes in handy squeeze tubes. -Andrew
  24. I would stock up on Twinkies, cause they last forever. Wait, what? You mean they don't make Twinkies anymore? WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!! -Andrew
  25. I've been thinking about it too, getting tired of the high monthly bill that yes, is more expensive than the electric bill. So when our contract is over in March, we will be switching over to a no contract plan, cutting our bill in half. Hopefully the coverage will be sufficient in our area. Thinking about Straight Talk too. -Andrew
