I also installed them on an 06 and had to re-route the cables a couple different times till I got enough slack. I also adjusted the throttle cable free play up at the grip and that help too.
  2. I don't usually have much time to post but I need to let you all know about Long Island Yamaha. Last month I was on a two week business trip in Long Island, New York. On Monday morning of the second week, as I left the motel for work, my 06 RSMV stopped running. I was pretty sure it was the fuel pump, having had a problem with it once before, at home in Pittsburgh. I called the 800 number and was told that YamaMama would cover the first $50 in towing and $100 per day for trip interruption but they wanted me to tell them were to take it. After getting a ride to the office I looked on the internet for a dealer to call. I was 400 miles from home and needed to leave at the end of the week. I explained the situation to the service manager as well as my previous experiance and why I felt it was the fuel pump. He said he could take the bike but would not be able to look at it for a week. I called another dealer and the guy that answered the phone said to bring it in and they would try to look at it the next day. It was their long day. BTW, the towing company said I had to be there to help load the bike on the tilt-bed. My wife had been waiting with the key but she couln'nt help load the bike. I got a ride back to the motel and waited an hour for the guy to show up. He said he usually just strapped the bikes down by the handle bars. I told him he couldn't do that and he just looked at me. Fortunately, I carry a set of slings just in case. So much for experienced motorcycle haulers. Anyway, the bike was dropped of at about 2:30pm and Bill, the service manager said he would take a look at it and let me know. At 3:45 he called me to say it would be ready if I wanted to pick it up before 5:00. It was in fact the fuel pump. He had taken one off of the 08 that was on the showroom floor so I didn't have to wait for a new one from Yamaha. I cancelled the rental car I had just reserved and got a ride back to the dealer. That is truly great customer service! Long Island Kawasaki - Yamaha 67 North Broadway Hicksville, NY 11801 516-935-6969 http://www.likawasaki.com/

  4. I installed these last year and have had no problems with them. I kept my stock grips. http://www.dual-star.com/index2/Rider/heated_grip_kit3.htm A friend at work also installed a set on his 1100 Shadow and I put another set on my son's Ninja. Dave
  5. I hooked it up Saturday morining and made all the brake lights flash. I plan on going to RI next week to pick up a trailer. I'll check on the laws first. Thanks for the advice! Spyder
  6. I ordered a headlight modulator and brake flasher from http://www.comagination.com/modYamaha.htm today. The flasher is the "Brake Flasher (IBF4) with about 4 FLASHES/3 seconds and then stays steady ON until brake is released". I'm trying to decide which lights I want to hook it up to. I have an LED light bar under my trunk and I also have a tail light converter for my cooler rack or for towing a trailer. SO... I was thinking that I would only have the LED lights flash on the bike. I'm also thinking that I should have the trailer brake lights flash even though they are combined with the turnsignals. Does anyone have the combined Stop/Turn Signals and have them set up to flash? Thanks
  7. I just had an "I" basket installed last Saturday and it really made a difference! I found myself running at higher speeds without realizing it because of the reduction in noise. I wasn't sure before if I had the wine and the chirp or just the wine. The best I can describe it is that I still hear a whine on decceleration but the noise? is not there under acceleration. It doesn't seem to have moved either. I plan on going to RI in a couple of weeks to meet BobE. I'll see how it does after a few days on the highway.
  8. Great idea. As soon as I get a garage.............. What brand of saddle bag top rails are those?
  9. Rick, Sorry if I missed this somewhere but how much are you selling the modified valve for? Thanks, Spyder
  10. Has anyone used Rain-X anti-fog? I have a Clearview shield and I can deal with the rain but when I hit those pockets of warm air in the morning and the whole thing fogs up I just can't see through it.
