  2. How long have you had your BFG? I searched all over and no one seems to have them. I emailed them to ask if they still make it. Waiting to hear from them. I'd really like to make this one work.

  4. Thanks. I was thinking maybe I needed to go ďown to keep the tire more flat when cornering but already feels soft. Guess I'll have to play up and down.
  5. Can anyone explain why a lot of people recommend using 40 psi during the break in period and then trying to dial it in? With about 20 miles on my new Nexen CT my wife and I took about a 60 mile ride today. Mostly two lane country roads with sweeping curves between 35 and 45 mph and no issues cornering. Except...90 degree turns at intersections. Every time it seemed to slide out just a little. Made my heart skip every time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  6. Well I picked up a Nexen today at the local Meineke that I deal with. $70 for the tire alone. They were willing to mount it but their machine didn't have enough clearance. Spooned it on. Had a hard time spreading it apart to get it to seat even with a ratchet strap but it finally started taking air. First side popped on at about 100psi and the second one right at 110. I was surprised at the handling. I expected it to corner worse than my old tire that had worn flat in the middle. I noticed NO transition when leaning into turns. I think I'm still just gun shy from various negative remarks about square care tires. Forgot to mention, right now I'm running 45 psi. I'll be taking it easy for a while. My wife and I may be taking it to the Finger Lakes over the 4th if the weather is OK. Thanks for everyone's input.
  7. Hey Dan are you asking me or everyone else? Seems like the bfg or Kumho but I'm having trouble finding either in stock. My choices right now are Nexen, Nankang, or Federal. I'd like to order one to have by the weekend.
  8. Yea good thought. Thanks for the reply. I've been wanting to try this for a couple of years and now I'm ready and need to replace my rear tire pretty soon.
  9. Trying to find a Bfg 155/80-15 or Kumho 165/80-15 but not finding anything in stock. Anyone have experience with Classic brand? I found one in stock at Tire Rack.
  10. Sorry I didn't take any pictures but I had everything out. Fuel pump, battery box, mounting plate for the igniter. Just keep removing things till you get there. Simple fix in the end. Don't forget to use dielectric grease. good luck
  11. I just went through this on my 06. The #1 coil was not firing but tested OK. The diagram for coil testing is incorrect in the factory manual. (Long story) I was able to remove the TCI by removing the fuel pump, Radiator overflow bottle, and mounting bracket that holds them both. I had to remove the TCI to bracket mounting bolts in order to slide the bracket out. I also had the coils out at the time but I'm not sure if that would be necessary or not to get the bracket out. Once I did that I cleaned and greased (with dielectric grease) all of the connections and reassembled. Ran fine afterwards.
  12. Thanks Mike. After finding a YouTube video on how to test them I found that they tested good. After cleaning all the connections I assembled everything and re-synced the carbs. Runs smooth like it used to.
  13. I removed the igniter and then separated all connectors that reside in that area. Cleaned them, used dielectric grease and re-assembled everything. That seemed to do the trick.
  14. Sorry, I just saw your reply. I spent a LOT of time trying to find posts on the correct way to check the coil. I did see the ones saying the manual was wrong. In the end, that was my first problem. The manual was wrong and I checked the coils the wrong way. Last night I went through All the connections and now all plugs fire. I was surprised that no one commented on the ability to replace the plug wires since I saw many posts asking if it could be done. Anyway, thank you again for going the time to respond.
  15. I ordered two new coils a week ago for #1 and #3. I just now got word that the #1 is on national back order until the 27th. Yamaha shows two different part numbers but both coils have the same Mitsubishi part number on them and the wires are the same length. Anyone know why I can use two of the same part that is NOT on national back order? I've already checked the coil by itself and it is the coil, not the wire so this won't help me but I used this method when I had my XS1100 to replace all of the plug wires. I've tried searching old posts but could not find where anyone said that you can replace the wires on a Gen2. Sorry if I just missed it. Here's a link to the XS1100 site tech article. I've already cut my bad coil to see if it is set up the same an it is. I thought this might help someone else if they wanted to try it. http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137
  16. Thanks for the reminder about the o-ring material. And, I'll contact Skydoc. I appreciate the help.
  17. Has anyone ever lost one of the o-rings that seal the two halves of the rear brake caliper? (Don't ask) I've already emailed Buckeye Performance to see how quickly they can get me the seal kits but they don't include the o-rings. Does anyone know if they are a standard size? I have a ride scheduled for next Friday and need to get "Molly" back together. Thanks
  18. Don, You don't know me but I've been around here for a while and even though I don't usually post anything I just had to thank you for sharing your faith and such a personal struggle on this forum. Praise God for His working in your marriage, for your willingness to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and for remaining teachable. May God continue to bless you both and honor your commitment to Him. Your brother in Christ, Dave
  19. I never thought of that. It looks awesome!

  21. I purchased a Mustang seat a few weeks ago and really like it. I tried the Butler Mod (he does a great job) but after a while it did break down and was just too soft for me. I altered another non pillow top seat with firmer padding but was still too soft and could not get the shape right. The Mustang was firmer than stock and was comfortable from the start. It sits a little higher than the stock seat but I prefer that. I did 500 miles the other day with a couple hour break in the middle to see some friends and I do stop every couple of hours for just a few minutes. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not as young as I used to be and can't ride as long as I did when I was young. I purchased mine from a local place that gives 20% off of Mustang seats. I got the one with studs and a backrest for $584. plus tax. (No shipping) For me, I just couldn't do the cost of the Day Long at this time and am very pleased with the Mustang. Special thanks to Sleeperhawk for answering all my questions about his experience with his Mustang seat.
  22. Had mine replaced this year at around 35,000 miles two days before the warranty ran out.
  23. I was actually thinking of a bracket to move the deflectors back and up to their original position closer to the forks. I wonder how much difference it makes in the windflow?
