  1. Just last week I purchaced one of the above devices direct from a mob in China ,Needless to say it has not arrived as yet ,I spent a lot of time recearching this sort of item and I came accross this supplier tenq@wholesaleonepiece.com The lead in was from the Android Forum web site. As far as I could make out ,it is one of their latest releases which I felt was the most suitable for my purposes was their Minipad M9 Android 2.3 Capacitive Tablet PC. 7 inch Rockchip RK2918 Cortex A8 Dual Core 3G WIFI Bluetooth 8 GB Minipad (M9) This with free postage worldwide and for US$179,00 I also purchaced a 7 inch pad. Leather case and Detachable keyboard, For use with it for another US$33-00. I believe their address is wholesaleonepiece .com I think that you could do worse than to check them out. one thing that I liked was the reviews and the question and answers that they provided in association with their listing of the M9 minipad. One thing to make sure of with any purchase of this type is that it must be registered and compatable with Adobe,Adobe Digital, Google, and the Android Market, (suppliers ot both free and purchasable downloads) . Otherwise you will have no end of trouble with any future downloads etc. Please dont ask me how I know . Cheers Winston66. Australia
  2. Was interested to read these posts. And I am quite happy with the handling of my ride ,at any speed, However if an improvment is at all possible I would like to try it. But my question is . I am a bit short in the leg area and I feel that by installing leveling links on my 96 royal star and raising the seat height would make it a bit difficult for me to get my leg over, as it were. What is involved in lowering the front by adjusting the front forks. I might add that I have had this ride for three years now and I must be a very cautious rider as I do not recall ever scraping anything. So perhaps that consideration would not matter for me. Thanks in advance for your comments. Cheers Winston66, Australia
  3. It sounds to me that the motor is having fuel starvation problems when being run for a while at part or near open, full throtle. I would check for restricted fuel flow at the input to the carb, is there a very fine mesh screen interegal in the last banjo fitting to the carb? I would also check the output of the fuel pump , both the pressure and the flow rate. If these do not solve the problems then I would make sure that the breather to the fuel tank is not blocked, ie that the fuel cap has a small air hole in it because if the tank cannot breathe, when a reasonable amount of fuel is being sucked out of the tank eventuallv enough vacumme will be caused and the fuel pump wil be unable to provide any go juice to the motor, it is likley then that after a while the tank will breathe a bit ie the next morning or after an hour or so and then the fuel supply problem will be eased and the motor will function normally again , untill the partial vacumme stops the fuel supply again. Hope that this helps. Regards Winston66 :detective:
  4. Hi tas mocycle, Because I am here in Australia way down in the down under, where the gravity makes the blood go to you head ,n, and other un mentioned parts, everything ia a little more difficult to organize I have worked out how i can pay you for the risers once you have worked out the freight costs. I can purchase a gift card from Bike bandit .com or some other parts retailer, in the USA. to be sent direct to you by email for the required amount . If this is ok with you they will contact you with the details of your credit which i will pay for before you send the risers to me. If you let me know what your final cost is ,i can let you know if i want to go ahead with the deal. Let me know if this is ok, otherways you might like to nominate another retailer that offers a guift certificate that you would be happy with. Regards Winston 66. kipa02@westnet.com.au Regards Winston66
  5. I am amused after reading all of the foregoing, too and frowing. There has been a lot of truth and etc. from all the inputs and no doubt there are some grains of wisdom also. However, There is no reason, or good purpose, to be served in trying to cobble up a totally miss matched set of components or systems when the end result is required to not only sound good but to work well and be efficent to operate. For my two dollars worth I would try to utalise the origonal equipment as it was designed to be used and operated, this in order to achieve a satisfactory result. Therefore I would ascertain from a knowlegable retailer what speaker system they would reccomend for the exhisting system, and then with their recommendation try the respective speakers in order to ascertain the worth of their knowledge. One other small grain of wisdom ,(or truth), consider this. The larger the power output of the amplifer whatever is used will directly effect the gross current drain ie. the amperage that will be drawn from the scoots electrical system. Why try to reinvent the wheel, when the manufacturers reserch and development people have already done the leg work. I realise that I have strayed from the point of the question of the origonal query, but I could not resist putting in my two dollars worth. Hope you get the stero to work.
  6. Thanks dingy for posting this very interesting info. I have one of the rare 1996 VXZ 1300Royal Star"s. In Australia here, it is almost impossible to get any relevant information about these scoots, Hence I have found such a wealth of information from this great site and happy band of guys that one could call a brotherhood. Even though my Clymer manual M374 covers most things from 1996 to 2003 it still leaves a lot of questions unanswered for me, and I have been able to fill a lot of gaps when following the different threads on this awsome Venture Riders Site. I recently installed the R1 brake upgrade supplied from Skydoc, even though I did not notice any real improvment in either applied effort or stopping power over the origonal set up , with the new rotors and the new lines etc, the brakes now work as well as could be hoped for and the shuddering that was caused by the warped rotor,s is now completly eliminated. I now can ride this scoot with confidence and I am very pleased with my investment in saftey and reliability in replacing the 15 year old (origonal) stuff with new parts, cos I believe that stopping safely is even more important than trying to (perhaps) break the sound barrier.
  7. On my 1996 royal Star .There is a yellow light to the right of the speedometer. The manual states that this is the engine indicator. Every time iginition is turned on this light will turn on for 1.4 second test and the system runs a series of checks. If everything ok the light will go out after 1.4 seconds or when the engine is started. when the self diagonstic system detects an error, the engine indicator light flashes a diagonstic trouble code after the initial 1.4 second test period.Count the number of flashes and then refer to the table at the end of this chapter to determine the error and the proper corse of action. Clymer Manual M374 page55 Hope that thi helps. Winston66. Australia :fingers-crossed-emo :whistling:
  8. I have a 1996 XVZ Royal Star, I think that it has the same carbs as your 1997 ie. 28 mm. Sirus Consilated Inc. Were the last people that I have contacted re supply of these parts. They said that they can supply but out of stock at present time. Would not confirm pricing but said that would send me a pay pal iv. when stock came in. Have been waiting almost a month now but still no word. Give them a try you might be lucky. sci@siriusconinc.com Cheers Winston66. Australia :backinmyday:

  11. :12101:About 15 months ago I fell over a 1996 Royal Star. It was on the notice board at the local shops, One look at the photo and I regressed mentally about 40 years to my first ride , A 1950's triumph tiger 100. It was a 500cc.twin with a rigid rear end. Well to cut a long story short. The Po. let me test ride the RS .I only lasted about 5 minutes before the cash came out. What a blast, so solid and smooth only 65000 klm on the clock, about 40000 miles in your language. Well the improvments are. Bearded windscreen(black bottom half) from National windscreens, USA. Final rear gear and pumpkin swap for V Max Ratio. Iginition module swap for the dyna 3000 New rear tyre dunlop 404 New front rotors and R1 caliper upgrade with braded ss lines and sintered HH pads. A set of throw over soft saddle bags (beer and munchie carriers). Then I got the ride like a pro videos and did a lot of practice. Can only say what great machines these are' I only wish that I could get my mitts on a late model one and afford to buy it, that would be my idea of heaven I am totally happy with this machine. They are very rare over here and even with its age it gets a lot of notice and favourable comments. :cool10: :bighug:
  12. What a great forum and sorce of information this site is. I have learned so much from all the different discussions and posts from all you guys. It has been great to see everyones interest and sharing of knowledge I am wondering if any one can help me out with some used parts. I have a 96 RS. But because I am a little short I would like to try the prevousley mentioned Venture risers. In order to bring the bars back a little closer to me Unfortunatly here in Western Australia these bits are impossible to obtain except for new oem and that makes it a very expensive try out if it does not work for me. However, if any one has a set of used, and regardless of the condition, if they would care to pass them along at a reasonable price I would be very happy to purchace them and of course pre pay the postage to here in Aus.. The standard bars on my RS, are one inch in diameter. Is this the same diameter as the Venture Riser fitment. Thanks in anticipation, Regards Winston 66 :cool10:
  13. I reckon that what has just been so elequently discribed is nothing other than the long lost relative, BEING, GOOD SCHITT, In Person. :rotf::cool10::bighug:
  14. Dont you guys know anything. Thats not his garauge , Thats his house. Any way Im still jealous, I live in a tin shead. Winston66
  15. Thanks for the feedback everybody. It is most interesting to persue the comments and the other relevant threads. I was interested to see the comparison posted by E-FISHIN-C. In regard to the Honda ST1300. Up untill this time I had not even contemplated anything other than the FJR. But now as I am mainly interested in long distance crusing, and comfort, is most important, the relevant comments have given me some food for thought. Unfortunatly as I am getting older and am only 5 ft 6 and about 180lbs. the knuckles dont quite touch the ground, and with the gravity down under here which I believe can force all the blood to your head.It is nice to get your comments.(Some clear thinking is needed)kipa02@westnet.com.au If I do make a move in the choice of a new ride it will probably be for a very long time because of the finances, I dont think that another change could be contemplated, so I do not want to make a rash decision. Thanks again for all of you comments. Please keep them comming. Regards Winston66.:cool10:
  16. As I am in Australia, product information is sometimes difficult if not impossible to get. I find that I can not rely on the glossy brocures and the dealers that I have contacted generally do not have the user information that I require. IT seems that their main interest is only to sell you something, and subsequently let you find out for yourself. So here is the guts of this post I am thinking about an upgrade from my old faithfull 1996 Royal Star, and have wondered if anyone has had the opportunity to test ride the latest, or any other version, of the FJR 1300. I would be most interested to hear their impressions about:322: this machine. And Also possibly what changes and or upgrades has Yamaha done over the last few models. In other words would any one recommend any particular model or year. Do you know of any glaring, obvious or not, faults or things to watch out for with this run of motorcycle. Any comment or feedback will be very appreciated. Thanks in anticapation of your comments. Winston66
  17. I once had a similar boat fitted with a Mercruiser 351 windsor and i/o leg . Similar problems, these were resolved when the internal fuel filter gauze in the banjo fitting at the fuel line attachment to the carb was removed and cleaned properly. It had become blocked with the very fine rust residue from a dirty fuel tank , This rust residue powder had passed through the factory fitted in line fuel filter, and completly blocked this much finer filter medium in the banjo fitting. Also on my boat there was a iginiton cut out switch attached to the gear leaver which was momenterally engaged when selecting either forward or reverse gear, this was to enable a smooth drive engagment when engaging the gear as it momenterally cut the iginition in order to lessen the stress on the gear box. Could this possibly be mal functioning on your boat if there is a similar overide fitted. This is just a couple of suggestions to check as it seems that you have tried most other things , including the professionals. Cheers , Winston66 Australia:lightbulb::crying:
  18. :cool10:As another australian I have found that PartShark.Com has a very good service and a very efficient parts ordering process. I have recently purchaced from them. Unfortunatly the freight costs ex USA. are quite high, but I found that their retail prices on selected items generally a lot better than other suppliers especially Yamaha Dealers here in Australia who seem to want at least a 200% mark up on the PartShark.Com prices , and this helps to negate the overall costs especially if purchasing several different items at the same time.Ie PartShark .Com prices on my most recent order were. spark plugs DPR7EA9 at $2.00 ea. an air filter elemen 14NK-14451-00-00 Royal Star 1996 for $23.00. Oil filter screw on23FV-13440-00 $12-50. As I said freight costs are high but can be negotiatedif you email them and ask for help , I did. I hope that this is helpful:rotf:
  19. Hi there, I recently aquired a 1996 xvz 1300 RS with standard tyres. I felt that it was a bit heavy at low speeds. But I did not buy it for crusing around parking lots. Then I found a write up about contra body steering ,when initally you push the handle bars in the opposite way that you want to go around the corner. I was very dubious about this because after about 40 years of riding I had always just leaned into the corner after picking my line. that always worked for me , probably because I was never in a hurry. However with my heart in my mouth, the other day I plucked up enough courage to try it out. I am stoked. I used to get so tired. Now the BEAST is so responsive I have to go for a ride every day. The quick response of the machine stil surprises me. If you do not know about this type of steering and cornering controll please do yourself a favour and reasearch the topic. It has beern a relevation to me and I am still surprised as to how effortless the controll is. I still do not understand the physics involved but I dont care anymore. This all means that I will not be buying any new skinny tires for the front as I am not concerned about parking I just want to feel the wind and enjoy the open spaces. ride with confidence. This is from a new member . Winston 66.
  20. Just been admiring the photo of your new ride,Now my query is this. I have a 1996 RS XVZ and cos im a little short and the knuckles dont quite scrape on the ground when I have to walk anywhere, I find that there is some streaching needed when doing tight slow speed turns on my ride. Your photo suggests to me that your handle bars have a different profile and are lower and are swept back slightly further than mine. Are they one inch diameter and would my controlls fit. If this is the case I feel that a change could be good for me. Unfortunatly I could not afford the bike, so I mean just the bars. Does any one have any thoughts on this one?
  21. Sorry that should have been , Craig
  22. H i Angel, I am glad you are hanging in there. You know that it can only get better. I had a similar ticker problem myself some time ago in 91 actually. Was told that a bypass was in order, was so scared of the knife, and figured that I would hang on for a long as possible so that the surgon could get some more practice on someone else. Anyway in 98 was told very loudly to stop dicking arround as it was getting worse. Took the advise , Double bypass and 6 months later I was out sailing the Hobi cat again. Now 10 years later have built a house to live in and now with the mid life crisis , and with the thanks of God , (or any one else who cared enough to help me ) six months ago, Came accross a Royal Star 1996 it was in great condition, fell in love with it. (no cheese and kisses any more to run things), so lashed, out mortaged the farm, joined the Ulysses, and rejoined the real world again. The point of all this is, Keep on hanging in there and never give up. I think it is great that you are making the effort , especially with the weight reduction. Cheers for ever .
