I understand why you wouldn't forget the canadian rockies. I did that trip on a bike once. Absolutely spectacular! Glad to hear that you had such a great time, Steve

Look in the front of the right muffler. There will be a cat in there. Not a problem to drill out, just get a long, (aircraft drill bit) 12", approx, say 1/4" drill bit and drill a series of holes around the OD of the cat, then from the back, get a steel rod or pipe and punch it out, not a big deal, then drill out the baffles with a,(i think) 1 1/8" hole saw, Ya gotta do this part first. You will love it. Steve

New to RSTD some brake questions
eagleeye replied to Judes Dude's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have the stock pads in the front of my 05 RSTD and don't notice any of what you are describing. I can grab a handful of front brake, and no grabbing. They are noisy though. Plan on replacing them this winter. Must be the pads he put in. Steve -

I guess that my second comment on this subject is: Will my uninsured part of my insurance now go down? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO That's the part that I'm waiting for. Steve

Gee, I never would have guessed---- Steve

Considering that the site is basically a bunch of old farts, (me included) with some new young folks thrown in, this conversation is nothing short of amazing. Why does anyone care who is first or second? I heard this years ago, sitting in a bar one night talking with another biker. "The best bike is the bike you like"---says it all---- Nothing could make me happier than to add on one stall to the garage, move the boat over and add a couple of harleys to the two Yamahas, and the Honda. Life is good, Enjoy, Steve

Where do you come up with this stuff? How about we sit around the fire, drink, laugh, and watch you eat them, then laugh some more? I'll pass too, Steve

Magnets to make trafic lights turn green.
eagleeye replied to Flyinfool's topic in General Tech Talk
This is how Wisconsin deals with this issue: 2005 Wisconsin Act 466 S ECTION 15. ECTION 16. 346.37 (1) © 4. of the statutes is created to read: 346.37 (1) © 4. Notwithstanding subd. 1., a motorcycle, moped, motor bicycle, or bicycle facing a red signal at an intersection may, after stopping as required under subd. 1. for not less than 45 seconds, proceed cautiously through the intersection before the signal turns green if no other vehicles are present at the intersection to actuate the signal and the operator of the motorcycle, moped, motor bicycle, or bicycle reasonably believes the signal is vehicle actuated. The operator of a motorcycle, moped, motor bicycle, or bicycle proceeding through a red signal under this subdivision shall yield the right−of− way to any vehicular traffic, pedestrian, bicyclist, or rider of an electric personal assistive mobility device proceeding through a green signal at the intersection or lawfully within a crosswalk or using the intersection. This subdivision does not affect any authorization for a bicyclist under subd. 2. Steve -

Thanks for the reply. I did cut off 6", but living up north here, I want a full sized shield for the colder weather. I do know about all of the windshield manufacturers, I was hoping for someone who had one that they would let go. Anyone ever use a 7Jurock windshield? Steve

ice fishing electronics like vexlars, sonars, electric augers, underwater cameras, etc. Steve
-
If there is dew on the floor in that thing, you had better do something about getting rid of the moisture while your bike is in there. Better off not having it.---Gonna need some vents for sure. Years ago, I built an ice fishing shack just like that, only using slats for the tubing. Still have it. Good luck, Steve

My windshield got damaged and need a new one. I just put an ad in the classifieds looking for a stock windshield. If you have one, please let me know. Thanks, Steve

OK, if you haven't done it yet, you need to drill out the catylitic converter. It's not hard at all, just get an aircraft drill bit, say 1/4", approx 12" long and drill a series of holes (as close as you can get to each other) around the OD of the converter, then a solid bar from the other end and knock it out. Steve

Does anybody here have the Utopia back rest ?
eagleeye replied to Hummingbird's topic in Watering Hole
They do have the quick release for the 2nd gen. I just talked with them this afternoon, and the backrest for my 05 RSTD is 179 plus 65 for the quick release. I would also get the cover for the bar. Steve
