  1. I'm not showing that the link posted is working.
  2. By then, I'll have about 11,500 miles.
  3. Goose your instructions are clear to me until we start to deal with the BROKEN TAB. I picked up some metal for the brace (clearly it was not stiff enough though), and could see how the bracket would connect to the bolt on the speaker, and I can see how it attaches to the METAL STRIP, but I can't figure out what you're referring to when it comes to how the bracket attaches to the broken tab. Wouldn't the brace from the speaker directly to the METAL STRIP be enough stability to keep the windshield secure/ More pictures (maybe not possible)...or try explaining it so a 2nd grader (me) can understand it. Any more info on this fix would be greatly appreciated.
  4. OK...in about a month I'll be taking my bike in for all service it needs EXCEPT the oil change (I'll do that myself). I will let them replace plugs, do a carb synch, change the air filter, replace the final gear oil, and repack the steering bearings. I know that some of this may be a little early, but I'd just as soon get it all done now so I don't have to take the bike back for awhile. Am I MISSING anything else they could or should do? I know some of you might be inclined to tell me to do some of those things...but I am much better at turning the key and the throttle than I am at turning a wrench. Thanks. Wally
  5. Hmmmm...Strange. There was a Venture model in 2010 and each new bike comes with a 5 year warranty, so I assume that at the very least that parts will be made available until 2015. I am looking at this wrong? Otherwise, they can just provide me with a new bike.
  6. Actually, I assume the nickels are fake. The date on the nickel looks much better than the ones I used to find when I collected coins.
  7. In my opinion, the air buffeting is just a little less, but I haven't been on any LONG rides yet. As for keeping the wind off your hands, I don't think it made any difference. I might catch that occasional BUG from splatting across your hand though (not all of them, but a few more anyway). But all in all, I am VERY happy with my F4 shield. It IS DEFINITELY more optically clear. It can use RainX L(which I understand the Clearview does also), but most importantly, it is shatter resistant!! Wally

  9. Didn't see the homemade flag poles...do you have a link for that? Thanks, Wally
  10. Starman...Got the same bike as you...I am THINKING I may mount mine to the sides of the trunk (maybe towards the back. I also ordered myself a custom flag... Wally
  11. Ordered the combo pack for two flags. Thanks. Yes, they were VERY easy to deal with...I called and talked to them, very helpful. Wally
  12. Aussie Annie...yes, I THINK it is held in place by the "bullet" top which I assume just screws down and the flag can't get over it. If anyone else has used this setup...please correct me if I am wrong. Wally
  13. Just curious if anyone has ever used this vendor? http://www.rumblingpride.com/ Here is one of their mount kits that does not interfere with the trunk opening and closing? http://www.rumblingpride.com/Touring_Class_Mounting_System.htm Then of course there is always the luggage rack mounts...but don't those get in the way? I am especially interested if anyone has ordered from them before. Thanks, Wally
  14. Yes...That's probably the approach I'll take. YEP...my garage is to danged cold too. Last night 14 degrees, tonight a toasty 21 for the low. Yes...we in Arkansas are pretty much cold weather pantywaists.
  15. Don...it's not the chrome trim, but instead the metal strip (crossmember). Here is a picture... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=15890 I might just do the strap fix...have you done yours? WHAT makes these break so easy? Wally
  16. I mentioned this in another post, but I thought I would post again and ask another way. The fairing tabs that hold the windshield are a known problem with the Venture. In fact, many of you have said that EVEN NEW VENTURES could very well have the tabs already cracked or broken. I had asked if it was important to have the fairing replaced, and a couple of you said yes, get it fixed or it would get worse. I have two issues with getting fixed...first, because I have done some wiring under the fairing I am afraid they will hassle me about the tabs and accuse me (like others have been accused) of breaking them myself. The OTHER issue I have is that I did my wiring the way I wanted it done and I don't want them messing with it. OK, so no my other point about not getting the tabs fixed...if someone owned a Venture and did NONE of their own work, and based on those statements that the tabs were of poor design and cracked on their own, isn't it possible for this breakage to go for a LONG period of time and MANY miles without knowing anything was wrong? What do you think? Wally
  17. And you might even be able to SUE THEM over it. OR you could put up your own sign. Maybe something like you knew you had to watch out for potholes, but not A$$holes.
  18. Do the Route 66 route from West to East! I loves my Route 66.
  19. Oh...and has anybody had any issues with losing the rubber grommets...what is the part number on those?
  20. I know I didn't break them...haven't dropped the bike. But going in and telling the dealer...I feel like I am guilty of abusing the bike even though I haven't. My stealer does not seem to have the greatest knowledge when it comes to the Venture anyway.
  21. Thank you...I'll check into this... I think I did it the hard way...but it got done anyway. Thanks. That was suggested by a friend at work too...so I may get some of that just put the shrink tubing over it. Yeah, I knew they worked the same, but I HATE those twistie holders for the glass fuses...I like the spade fuses much better. Again...thanks. Wally
  22. OK...after a brief scare with my windshield (my wife threw it away and took it to the dumpster, but was able to recover it)...I decided to go ahead and do some things to to the bike today. I have several questions!! First thing was removing the fairing, I did notice that both tabs were broken and I know this has been discussed a lot, but if left broken, do they really pose any danger...or should I DEFINITELY have the fairing replaced? When removing the fairing, I also noticed that one of the grommets was missing helps stabilize and rattle proof the fairing...is that a standard size grommet or is there a special part number? Replacing the lamp with the Silverstar IS A PAIN...even with the fairing split!! Also the BIG rubber cover has threads in it...but it doesn't screw on does it. Also, even with the fairing split, I had a hard time getting my hand up through there...removing the adjustment knob did help. Maybe I am missing something, but any further tips would be greatly appreciate. Is there a better tape to use besides electrical tape that is not as effected by HEAT and COLD...the adhesive doesn't seem to keep the connections tight. I also was trying to track down why my running lamps no longer worked...when they installed them they used the OLD fashioned glass 10A fuse. I am going to replace that with chip kind, is that what most of you have done? And finally, I installed the F4 Customs Windshield. WOW...very nice. VERY clear too. Sitting behind it is almost like sitting on the bike without a shield at all...it's that clear. I am very pleased. So, I'm looking forward to some answers, thoughts, suggestions and tips. Wally
  23. YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Got mine today!!
  24. I actually like the Browns a lot. Peyton Hillis (ex-razorback) was on my fantasy team this year and did very well. But alas...back to the matter at hand... THANK YOU SIR...MAY I HAVE ANOTHER!!
