  1. I am not near my bike right now, but I have a computer!! Does anyone know the diameter of the bars on the luggage rack that goes on the trunk lid of a 2nd gen? Thanks
  2. The Palomino was made only the one year. We sold 3 of them in NC. The biggest problem with them was the tan bags and seat bleaching out from the sun. There was little to no uv protection on them. Yamaha warranty covered them for a while. Great looking but hard to keep looking good. By the way, the bags are the same hard leather that came on the Tour Classsic in black.
  3. Aother idea is to get a battery tender and run the connection through the right side cover. It is much easier to hook it up by removing on screw on the cover. Just a thought....................
  4. Thanks guys..............Carbon One, you will be seeing my order soon.
  5. Thanks Frrebird, where is the best place to lift it from, the area under the front floor boards?
  6. My wife brought home a new lift for me today.I put it together and was ready to load the bike up on it, but when I looked underneath it, I am not sure where to place the lift pads. I am looking at getting one of carbon ones stands, but for now where is the best place to locate the lift? Thanks for the help.
  7. I checked the connection at the player, even put the dielectric grease on it.
  8. My CD player stopped working. I split the fairing and checked the connection there and while I was at it, I put the dielectric grease on all the connectors. Everything seems to be properly connected, but the cd selection does not come up on the control panel. Is there a separate fuse for the cd player? It worked great when we used it last in August.
  9. he is not having any problems, he just doesn't like the feel of the heavier pull. I did tell him about SKYDOC'S upgrade. I think he just wants more of a stock feel. He has ridden my 09 and likes it.
  10. does anyone have a stock clutch spring laying around from an upgrade? I have a friend who wants to remove the heavier spring and replace with a stock one.
  11. Hang in there VMAN, hopefully everything will work out. Sometimes it takes time to correct years of "living the good life." Be patient and be smart, everything happens for a reason.
  12. It sounds as if everybody's biggest gripe is the cassette deck.? They now offer the isimple through the dealer to run your ipod through the audio controls on your bike. I personally like the V-4, we stand out in the crowd. As far as the carbs, I can tune those as often as needed for nothing but my time and a few beers with my bud, Dannie. Maybe the efi would be nice, but it is not a show stopper or must have. If they do go to a V twin, how much different would it look than a Hardly Driveable? Again, this is just one mans opinion, but I like my 09 just the way it was made. By the way, I had an HD and went to the V4 after one year, thought I had to be like everyone else, got to say I is much happier with the Yamaha.
  13. If all the ideas that the new Venture will come out with a big v-twin, I'm glad I got the 09. I have received more comments and compliments on the looks of the V-4. They would have to do something real special and make it under 20 grand to convince me that I should trade the 09. I have been on the V-4 since 97 when I sold my 96 Heritage Softail for a new Royal Star and kept it until my wife got me the 09 Venture S for my 50th birthday. I have had no trouble from either bike except for regular maint and some extra TLC, when I have the extra $$$ to do so. Hell, I even thought the 1st gens were pretty cool back in their day!!!!!
  14. it looks like they are cleaning out left over 09's and 11's for the venture.
  15. JUST SEEN ON THE YAMAHA WEBSITE, THE NEW 2012'S WILL BE POSTED ON 9/14 AT 12:00 am. AND THE DRUM ROLL PLEASE...................................
  16. if nothing rattles or falls off...........you don't need it!!!
  17. You done good.............enjoy it.
  18. I tried to install the Ipod adapter that I got from Pioneer yesterday and could not get it to work. I foolowed the instructions to the "T" but no luck. I reset everything according to the instructions and it still did not recognize it. One thing that also surprised me was when I reinstalled the cd player, that too was not recognized. I did run another cable last winter to move my cd player from the saddlebag to the trunk, and it worked fine all summer. The next thing I did was to split the fairing and hook up the original cable to the saddlebag and, you guessed it....nothing. The audio control works for all the FM and AM, the CB works, the cassette works and the aux plays my Ipod through the connection next to the cassette. I did call Chad about returning it for another adapter and I am still waiting on his response.
  19. I use the Progressive Gaige Pump, #GP3-60, for both the front shocks and the rear. It works perfect for me.
  20. Just ordered the Ipod adapter from Pioneer. Talked with Chad, nicest parts mgr I have ever talked to. Wish they were closer to do more business with them......there is always the internet.
  21. Do you have the number for Pioneer? I am in NC and don't know where to look. Thanks
  22. Who did you purchase this from? I hope they have plenty in stock. Also, what is the part number to order by? Look forward to seeing your pictures. Thanks
  23. I have rideen a friends 103 and it didn't seem to hit as bad as the 110 while at a redlight at idle. Under power they were both as smooth as our V-4's, plus I didn't think they had the same oomph as ours when you rolled on the throttle to pass. oh well, just one mans observation........thats why there are many brands to choose from.
