Testing the waters for a MI VR rally
ArticusMedicus replied to ArticusMedicus's topic in Watering Hole
We are stuck with dealing with Baja's race and practice schedule. We have the last weekend in August open. That weekend we could gather at the site and see what we think. We can camp for the weekend or just for the night...what ever you like. As noted there are hotels about five miles away near I-75. I have never planed anything involving more than ten people, so I am kind of at a loss as to what all is needed. If anyone wishes to get together on the last weekend, which would be the 28th-30th of August. Let me know. If you have a clue as to how to plan something like this, any suggestions would be welcome. This is an over view takin from a helicopter a couple of years ago, this is about 8-10k people ( We had 1200 racers per day that weekend)..http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu178/Wheellock/Bajaarielview.jpg -
Brad, your makin me miss Old Red even more... Looks like a great bike!!

Testing the waters for a MI VR rally
ArticusMedicus replied to ArticusMedicus's topic in Watering Hole
Ic, that is the place. Most of the stuff is already on or near the site. Like the port-a-lets. Grocery store/gas station within three miles. What am I missing in my initial thoughts of what would be needed? I just woke up after working the late shift, so I am stuck on stupid till the coffee takes hold. -
I have at my disposal an 80 acer piece of land ( Baja MX Millington MI ) use satellite view and zoom in. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=baja+mx&ie=UTF8&near=mi&f=l&split=1 After talking to the owner of the track they are open to the idea of hosting a rally/get together on their property. We could offer a large community bon-fire at night, as well as individual camp/cooking fires, swimming pond, port-a-lets (clean), Movies at night (outside, drive in style) via projection TV and a DVD player on a 12'x12' screen, A concession stand for lunch ( burgers, hot dogs, Pizza, chicken strips, Fries, sodas...ect.) There is a lot of land for camping. Frankinmuth is a stones throw away, Prime outlets mall just down the road, and some nice riding in the county. I am just wondering how many folks would be interested in something like this. We could even have a trial run the last week of Aug this year if anyone was interested in just getting together with friends. What you guys think? Am I biting off more than I can chew? Art~

What cruising speed are you comfortable at
ArticusMedicus replied to E-Fishin-C's topic in Watering Hole
On the new 04, I'm still getting comfortable so I just stick to the speed limits or just a little over...80 is a good round number on the highway. On my old 84.... Lets just say she really liked triple digits.( Red did, not the wife ) Seemed to cruise very well at 100. But at times, I liked to go fast.- 51 replies

My Carry weapon in a Para Ordnance 12/45 LDA double stacker. About the same size as the Springer and the Kimber carry, but has a double stack mag = 12+1. I'm a...larger fellow so the grip is not to thick at all for me. Thats why I like my Para, being an LDA, I don't have to worry about hammers. Throw the safety and your ready to run with the big dogs. That being said I also tote a Rock Island officer model with a Kart barrel. But that usually stays in the Bug out Bag. Here's my 1+911 system http://i645.photobucket.com/albums/uu178/Wheellock/DSC00262.jpg

It is this medic's opinion, that crash test are in no way indicative of real life scenarios. I want to see what that matchbox toy does VS a tree, A guard rail, a dear, a ditch, a semi truck, an SUV (like my Tahoe)....A bison. ( yes I have seen that happen here in MI... Not pretty) I want to see what impact real traveling conditions have on the out come of the crash. Drivers side T-Bone for instance. Crash on a curve with a good degree of slope to it. Highway type side swipe. Or any number of non-scientifically calculated collisions. I bet a T-bone would show two to three feet of intrusion into the passenger compartment. I hope these cars all come with DNR orders.

Just make darn sure you are taking care of yourself. It's real easy to run yourself down when you get to workin like that. Rad. Treatments do tend to cause a break down in one strength and endurance. Be well bro.

Heel & toe, no problem. Learned about that REAL fast. Popped down to third when I was wanting fifth...Scared the snake snot out of me!!! I'm already used to highway pegs... Had those on the 84. I am just so used to having my feet under my hips. I did catch my pant leg in the Heel shifter the other night, just about dropped the dang thing. I really hope I don't do anything stupid and scratch my bike:scratchchin:

Found another little item that is driving me nuts.... How long will it take before I start putting my feet on the floor boards and not trying to put them under my hips??

Hey bro, I just had a thought.... No matter where you go south of Ohio, the road will be a damned sight better. The back woods county mountain road in TN are, as smooth as I-75 is. Art~

Yes That was the day!! 05?? Holy cripe!!! Don't ask me what I was doin with that cane... Guess I was dreaming. Reminds me of the old farmer across the street from me and what he would alway say when Carter was on TV... " Oh He ain't worth a bent...." Well anyhow. Thanks Brad! Now if only I could find the ones of the ride after lunch... Someone has one of me and the wife on the first gen, that I always loved. Somehow I lost it when I reformatted my PC. I remember it hot quite hot and I ended up cutting of my sleeves. The tat on my arm go some attention...as naked ladies always do.
