After I took a break from this night mare I remember my first Gen was doing the same thing, the pick up coils were not getting good connection?. It would only fire off of one or two cylinders, found the pig tail for the pickup coils was not getting good connection. So now I'm looking for the pigtail for the pickup coils on this Second Gen. Where to start is another story. Can any one tell me where the pigtail is located for the pickup coils? Buddy

We came back from our trip to St. Charles MO. and all seemed well. Bike was getting 37mpg hwy. Went over 2,000mi hit some rain at times but all seemed OK, Let the bike sit for a few days in the garage and went out to ride to town noticed that it had no power and at one point it felt like it was going to die but went ahead and rode it to town. Went by the shop and picked up my Temp.gun and did some readings on the exhaust side and here are my readings. EXHAUST READINGS #1 410'F #2 135'F #3 89'F #4 130'F By the readings I'm running on one good cylinder? I bought some more plugs and changed them out, all four plugs were black with carbon but not wet looking. Even after new plugs installed still have same reading on exhaust. I would appreciate any help you guys can give me as where to go for further diagnostic.? Carbs - wiring - ? Buddy

It will be nice seeing you again Don, Since the last get together was in McKinney TX. Peg & I should be at the Hub around 2-3pm Saturday if not sooner. Buddy

Bill, We will be at the Hub in the afternoon on Saturday. We will miss the Lunch We will be there for sure!!. Peg is going to the Doctor on Monday to get her back checked out, Her back is still bothering her some. The Venture is to hard on her back so she will no longer be riding the Venture. We will be in Tipton MO. early Saturday morning picking up our new touring ride. Once I seal the deal we will go straight to the Hub and meet up with you guys. Peg is more excited than me, she loves the ride and it wont break our wallet either So I won't need two full time jobs to keep it.. Blue 2001 Gold Wing GL1800 ABS

Yep I'm impressed with the Avon Venom as well. On the way up to St.Charles M&E I found that I could scrap the mufflers in the twisties with 2up loaded down with luggage along with a full 12X24 ice chest with no problems.

I lucked out when I bought the 83. It was a one owner and he did a top notch job of taking care of it. He replaced the Trans gears and so on. I would have no problem going across country with the 83 also my first Venture. but as for buying a first Gen. I would go with the 86-93 model due to more luggage space. Both have bullet proof motors and run like a dream.. I like the 83 very much - pure power and can eat up the road in a heart beat and can pull the tire off the ground in first gear & second gear with two up. the 83 model is the baddest of the Venture line to date. But I prefer more luggage space now. Peg is riding more with me now days so more room is needed..... Buddy

I think you did good, as for price I seen one here at the Yamaha dealer last year. 03 Midnight with 35,000mi for $14,500, which I think was too much since it had nothing extra added, plus it had no history either on maintenance..... Buddy

As of right now it looks like I'll be going solo. Looks like Peg will have to stay and cover for a coworker. She is in the hospital and looks are not good right now as they do not know what the problem is. Peg is praying for her coworker, yet Peg is not happy she was looking forward to this trip very much - get away from work and see the family again..... Buddy

Peg & I took the First gen to Lawton to ride around and eat out, after awhile our rears were hurting big time. Stopped by Wal-mart and bought the beads for a car seat for around $8.00 lay it on the seat and it was a perfect fit what was left over I just slide it under the trunk area. We noticed a big difference we could get air to our rears and it help remove the pressure off the legs, and it made the seat feel like a new one....I recommend the beads too.....I going to modifle the beads for the RSV on our trip next week So it might help Peg out some..... As for the Air Hawk I never used one but i might buy one for Peg if I knew it would help her back Buddy

I never owned an Corbin untill I took the RSV. First time I sat on it was dang this thing is hard, dont know if I'd like this or not. But after awhile riding it home I noticed my back was not hurting and when I stoped to fuel up, I also notice I had no problem getting off the seat either, my body dint feel like it was tired out. Acourse my wife does not like it , Too hard for her and with her back I will have to make some adjustments. But for me its great........ Buddy
