It has to fit you like a glove or you won't carry it. All my weapons were purchased on hand ergonomics. My C-C gun is a Charter Arms in .44 special. This is easy to hide in a hip holster and will stop a bear at close quarters.
That being said I would rather have my .45 ACP when needed, but it is large and heavy. Get what fits and is comfortable to carry all day and the rest is left up to you. That means lots of practice. About the only caliber scarce here in NC is .22LR.
Ride it under a demo and listen for the whine. Sometimes this can be severe. Most all RSVs have this whine due to the straight cut gears in the transmission. The rear mono shock is a known failure point on these machines and many go to an aftermarket shock like Hagon, YSS and others.
Other than that it will last for over 200,000 miles. I have over 180,000 on my 02. Good maintenance is the key to long life on RSVs.
Many threads don't relate to the reader due to model of bike, travel history, personal experience, lack of mechanical ability, etc. I chime in when I can add some experience to the subject. Otherwise, my reply would just take up space.
Kawasaki produced many motors for other named bikes. I had a Meguro in 1965 that was marketed to military personnel on base in the east. It had a 250cc single cylinder Kawasaki motor. Made a great hill climber.
You want a coating on the wood that is impervious to fuel and oil, plus has a grit texture to it. Get an epoxy product for wood and roll it on the plywood. and then broadcast silica sand on it to give it grip. This will be a safe floor for you and will keep the wood from soaking any oil leaks or fuel spills.
None for us in NC this morning either. 5 degrees at my farm. Had to put a 500 watt halogen work light in the well house to thaw it out. I am leaving it in tonight and will energize it around 10 pm. That should control the 8 degrees in the morning.
Record 9 degrees for Charlotte tonight, but I am 30 miles west and a bit north and live in the country. I expect the low to 6 degrees here over night. Got the diesel truck plugged in and will run heat in the garage tonight so my wife's car will have a chance.
It is still better than living in Nebraska as a younger person.
In 185,000 miles I have only replace the clutch spring at about 50 k. The discs were in tolerance and all has been good since then. I installed the V-max spring.
A fellow in west Arkansas had a .22 gattling gun that would tear up targets in short time. It was a smaller version of the real thing but worked the same.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my best buddy, Jake, last month. I rescued him seven years ago and nursed him to health. He wasn't very old but had bad health issues from abuse and abandonment. My vet said that with me he had the best seven years any animal could have. Miss him greatly.
