  1. Maybe Snaggletooth could be of assistance, he lives there.
  2. I am trying to remember the last time I had a dead battery...NEVER. Guess I don't need one.
  3. I started with a bicycle frame and a plate of steel welded to it and a lawn mower engine attached. No pix. In 1959 bought a Cushman turtle back, 2 speed from a buddy for 15 dollars and it ran. Next spring I traded and got a Cushman Eagle and loved this bike. On to a Honda 250 scrambler that I rode from Omaha to Denver and back. I became a graduate "biker" at this point. Too many more after this point too add to this post. God, I love two wheels!
  4. Very sorry for this loss. He was taken too soon, but God has a use for him and we have to let him go. "May the Good Lord hold him close"
  5. I would go with a clutch upgrade. Very easy to do and there are two that are great. Barnett makes a very good unit and there is the PCW version. There is one sold here on this site and has great reviews. You most likely do not need new discs. My RSV has near 180,000 with the original discs. Just get the spring upgrade and in some instances the full rear disc.
  6. Looks like my 2000 HD Ultra, 5 times in 8,000 miles. Said the last stator was better than the other five. Sold that @&$) piece of crap.
  7. I rode the Indian this last weekend and was blown away by the power and smooth running including the easy shift transmission. The clutch was like cotton candy to engage.
  8. Then obviously you need a cover, but I can't help since I took the cassette player out of my 2nd Gen. and replaced it with gauges from a fantastic member who will always be in my mind. God love you brother.
  9. Did you find any cassettes on E-bay? :whistling:
  10. The shift is very smooth, no clunk like Victory's of the past. No hesitation on acceleration or any problems at all with the bike. I loved it. When you ride one you will be amazed at the acceleration with all that torque (hang on). I will order a Chief Vintage sometime in the next 8 months. I want a solo seat the seat rail and the Springfield Blue and distressed brown seat. :clap2:
  11. I feel that this is why concealed carry is the law of the land.
  12. Looks like the color I saw, but I am 67 and color blind to some extent.
  13. :farmer:They call it Spring or Springfield Blue. I don't know of it's origin.
  14. On my 02, there is a spring clip on the adjusting knob shaft, remove this with a needle nose plier (don't lose it) and the assembly should come out. It always does for me.
  15. At my age I hate a soggy rear end.
  16. Just this morning I stopped on I-85 to assist a bike on the side. He was OK and the bike was OK, he was looking for something in his trunk. He asked me if I always stopped for bikes on the side, I told him I always stop for any mode of transportation on the side.
  17. I watched a rider on his new FJR leave my Yamaha dealership...he dumped it twice before he was on the street. The owner said the guy had motorcycle endorsement and said he had ridden for years. Maybe 1.1 years but the end result was repair income to the dealer.
  18. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I find the Chief Vintage to be to my liking. The Chieftain is not quite a tour bike. There may be a trunk in the future for it. I do like the Victory CCT and I have ridden it in the past. Sylvester will stay my prime tour bike unless totaled. Then all options are open.
  19. All I can say is "fantastic". This bike will run out from under you quickly (119 Lb. torque). Linked abs brakes were great and the smooth shifting 6 speed was nice. I rode the Indian Vintage, but they all share the same drive train. The Chieftain looks great with the full fairing. I found my ride to be very comfortable and smoot (even over rough RR tracks). Only three colors of red, blue and black but they are pretty colors and good paint work. The seat was very comfortable but I was only on it for 30 min. Cruise control like a car and not like my Sylvester. The only thing lacking for me was a longer handle bar, but they have options available. My opinion is that they will sell very well. The dealer said he could sell a hundred in a couple months if they were available. Everyone else that demoed today had great things to say also. The motor looks like a retro flat head. I forgot to add that it is very nimble, Of course I am comparing it to a 12 year old RSMV.
  20. I am test riding the new Indian tomorrow afternoon. Looked at them today at the Charlotte dealer and was impressed. Looking forward to the ride. Very sorry that Yamaha fell behind.
  21. In my case the groan was cured by lubricating the slide on the shock. That was done in 2003, and my shock has never groaned again or failed. :farmer
  22. Put in the PCW upgrade and pull your trailers. I do. The I basket is not an issue.
  23. One under each fin on the RSV 2nd gen.
  24. My best friend rode the new Indian yesterday in the Black Hills. If I could have seen his face it would have been all smile. "This machine is a hoss". "Unbelievable power and torque". He told me that it would leave his Harley Ultra in the dust. Also leave his 2010 Indian in the dust. I asked about his former RSV (1500cc PCW engine with V-max rear), he said it would not keep up with the new Indian. He has ordered the new Chieftain Tourer. Said they were working on tour trunks for them. I will get a test ride on 8/23/13. I am excited but also sad that Yamaha has left no options on the table for a new ride.
  25. I will post my thought about the bike, because I will ride one on the 23rd of August. Mark Moses is the owner of the local Indian/Victory dealership and there will be demo rides on the 23rd. Can't wait. :clap2:
