  1. Looking real hard at a nice 1980 XS 1100 Special. Pix look very clean and the owner is going to take close ups of the aluminum and chrome for my viewing. Other than a Kerker 4 into 1 exhaust it looks great. The current owner bought it from a neighbor a few years back. He is the second owner and knows the bike well. I know it is a very fast bike and has issues with mountain curves, but is there anything else you members can tell me about it.
  2. Will 180 proof white lightning work instead?
  3. In all fairness, why would they build a touring model? We, the people who made the market for touring models, are aging out of the motorcycle market. I don't think that I could ever wear SYLVESTER in the time I have left. I don't ride near as much as I have the last five decades, and I don't ride as long when I do ride. Too many aches now. Look at how many bikes have been on the forum for sale the last couple years compared to earlier. Yes, many of them are upgrading but many are just getting out of riding for health reasons.
  4. Like Phoneman I consider the lack of stuff on the Strat a deal killer. Maybe Yamaha will build a touring Stratoliner and then I may be interested.
  5. Good that there is not one in our house, I would probably do the same or worse.
  6. Welcome aboard, mate. You will learn much and get even more sarcasm from some, I will not mention who. This is a great bunch of misfits and outlaws.
  7. :sign yeah that:
  8. My CB quit 4 years ago and I sure don't miss it at all. And my wife does not like to wear the intercom headset so I am blessed.
  9. Thanks, Woody! I appreciate the information.
  10. Went to the shop this morning to take the front wheel off to install new rubber, got the lift under Sylvester and then I saw it. Shock oil all over the floor. After almost twelve years and almost 180k miles, you would think it would last a bit longer than that. Anyone got the California phone number for Hagon?
  11. Two inches over will work for the RSTD handle bars. But I also went with four inches over in SS cables. I did this in case I went a different route later. I am very pleased with the RSTD bars on Sylvester.
  12. Make sure your kickstand is down fully, and always lift on the right side. This way you won't have a big surprise when you let it down.
  13. Drove through Somerset today, delivering a trailer to Corbin, KY. Seems odd that I get home and see the name of the town. Hope all are well.
  14. I have used J.C. Whitney, Yamaha, Kuryakin, Diamond R, and many others for my chrome addiction. After 180,000 miles they all look good.
  15. I came down from Nebraska yesterday and got into Kansas and hit snow and 29 degrees. Be glad when I get back to North Carolina.
  16. Too many fine machines for touring out there for Yamaha to be debuting a new tour bike. Victory has two, Indian Chieftain will have a tour trunk soon that is detachable (like Victory), Goldwings, HD, BMW, Kawasaki, and more. I don't ever expect a Venture again like we know.
  17. $22,990 for the Chieftain, but I will opt for a solo Chief. Options of course cost more. Sylvester will still be my tour machine.
  18. :sign yeah that:
  19. I have waited for more than a decade for the revelation of a new RSV. Can't wait anymore, the next bike will be an Indian. I will keep my RSMV and care for it as before.
  20. Should have had the boy piss in the truck.
  21. I don't think so, I have had the PCW heavy duty clutch in my 02 RSMV since 2004 when my clutch started the slipping. Now at eleven years later and 180,000 miles, I have no problems with my clutch and I pull a trailer.
  22. I use these same strobes on the front of my F 350 when hauling oversize loads. The Canadian Dot were impressed with them. Of course I have two on the front in white and amber each.
  23. BuB's forever. Love the sound.
  24. There are products that will dull the chrome finish by spray can. Easy clean up and no damage.
  25. I have know nothing of these lights, but will be grateful for the info posted.
