Hi have met both a couple of times and like most of the people I have met on VentureRiders are super people that are willing and able to help. Tod and Steve are fine examples of this community.

About 18,000 miles on my Venture last year with over 11,000 miles in one month. Another 2000 on my Road Star so about 20,000 last year total.

Got mine today and boy do they look GREAT! Thanks!
-
Great job! They look great! Thanks!:clap2:

Don fix'n to pay for two, Harry

E3's you'll love them or at least I do. I had the Commanders on and although a great tire I like the E3's a lot better.

As much as I love my Venture there is no way I'm paying that kind of money for a brand new 11 year old bike! I would switch to a HD Ultra Classic for an additional 2K and have a better looking bike and a bike that has kept up with the times. At least HD is making changes that need to be made to address their customer complaints. :soapbox:Sorry but that's my worth.

The money for 2 - 2nd gen pins is in your account. Thanks:thumbsup2:

Disappointed with the 2010 RSV

Well maybe:think: My son has a Chevy Cavilier and we went to the dealership to by a new part for his car after it was just 8 years old and they no longer made the part. Hopefully Yamaha cares more about their customers than GM. -
Ok, yea I have a similar one mounted in the same place. A friend of mine with an 05 Venture has the same one you have. He loves it. I think he has his wired with 3 running and brake lights and the two (4 light) turn signals. He added two round running lights to the antenna mounts because he said he wanted more running lights.
-
Well I've never seen one mounted there. All the ones I've seen are run along the pin stripping tape on the trunk. What did you mount the light to? Or are we talking about the same light. The light I'm talking about comes in different lengths and if flexible and about 3/16" wide and very bright.

The Chrome glow light bar We just installed one on a friends 06 Venture. They look great but here are some of the problems we encountered. 1) we had to return the first one as the clear is really white and sticks out like a sore thumb on a dark bike plus the light was packaged wrong and we we afraid it might be damaged. 2) we received the red one. Everything looked fine so we unwrapped it. The end where the wires enter has a little cap on it with no two sided tape so we had to caulk it to keep it together. Doesn't look to good but you have to get close to see it. 3) you have to but an additional pig tail in order to have running, stopping and turn signals. reasonable but is an additional charge. 4) you have to drill a whole in your trunk. 5) IMHO way over priced for the quality you get. Great idea and looks great (especially from a few feet away). I've seen a few of these and we may have gotten a couple of bad lights.

That would be alright with me. I do love my Venture but I have been saying for couple of years I would love for Yamaha to make a touring edition of the Stratoliner. -
Well I tightened the bolts but it still leaks so I've ordered the parts and I guess I'll put a new gasket on it when it gets here.
-
Well I guess I'm out. My Venture developed a oil leak. The rear head cover gasket developed a leak on the left side. I tightened all the bolts but it still leaked so I took the rear gasket off and I am waiting on the part. I called three places and none had one in stock. So I ordered it from the cheapest dealer and now I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I know I can't have it back together by the registration deadline and depending on when the part comes in I may or may not have it ready for the ride. Oh well:95:
-
Your absolutely right it is an either or thing. Where as mine has no adjustment it is strictly running and brake lights. I don't want the turn signals or need them. My license plate has additional turn signals on it.
-
Chrome Glow has one for about $32 I think and it has four wires so you can have turn signals if you want them.
-
No way Jose!

Actually there are a number of different manufacturers of these type of lights. There are different combinations of running, stopping and some have turn signals built in (4 LED's but I have not seen 5 LED's per side) I have seen prices from $15 to $60 and to be honest with you from the ones I've seen I think this one is the best built and best looking IMHO. Yes it is the most expensive with the fewest lighting options. I have one on my bike that came with the bike. It is the first model that came out (11 running and 11 braking LED's). He has come out with a few other combinations but like I've said before I have seen at least 4 other light bars and this ones quality seems to be surperior to the others. IMHO:stirthepot: Is it worth twice as much as the others? Well some don't think so but only you can decide that for yourself. Mine was on the bike when I bought it so I don't have to shell out any money for it. They all look nice IMHO but some look better than others.

Thanks for the tip. I'll make sure I have everything I need before I start. Harry:hihi:

Thanks Randy

Thanks Don that helps a lot. Harry:thumbsup2:

Yea it's my left rear also. I'll check the bolts. Do you just tighten them down or do I need to torque them down? Thanks. Thanks Steve for the offer. If that's what it needs I may take you you on that offer. I'll let you know if the tightening works. The 82 Maxim runs great. Harry has an appointment for the safety course on Sept. 24, and 25th. Thanks guys, Harry:thumbsup2:

Thanks for the support. I was reading about the valve adjustment on a 1st gen and they talked like it was quite involved. So I assume a 2nd gen is easier?

My Venture sprung a leak. I have done a search but none of the situations seem to give me any help. The left head cover gasket is leaking. Not bad but it leaks and I don't like it. It is the gasket near the top of the engine (right under the chrome covers). It has just started. My Venture is 9 years old and has 47,000 + miles on it. I have a few questions; 1) Will it hurt to keep riding it until I have a chance to fix it? B) Is it something I can do or should I take it to a dealer? 3) If I do take it to a dealer is it very expensive to fix? D) Should I change both now or just the one that is leaking?
