  1. You know at this point in time that would be fine. At least I would have everything including two complete sets of levers. But I would be so .
  2. The CC companies only give you 60 days to file a claim. So it would have to be in small claims court.
  3. It may turn out to be about pirates if I don't get my parts back.
  4. HD has very trained mechanics and great marketing and they stock their parts at the dealers and not a warehouse. You would think that a simple machine screw and nut would not be hard to stock but for Yamaha it is. I love my Venture and I don't buy many parts which is good. This is kind of self inflicted.
  5. I would rather not say right now. He has my parts and my money and if I start trashing him I may never get either back. I'm beginning to think that's the case anyway. I gave him until May 29th to get me my order or I'm going to file a law suit. He has agreed so we will see. I just thought it would be a simple task to replace my levers and it should be but for some reason it's not.
  6. :225::225:You know some times no matter how hard you try things just seem to go from bad to worse. About 5 and 1/2 months ago I sent some parts to a vendor to have the levers leather wrapped and some other parts leather worked. So my MM has been sitting 5 1/2 months. I have been trying to get the guy wrapping the levers to send me the levers for 6 weeks. I told him I wanted to get my MM on the road. He keeps telling me he will send them right out. Well the last time he was suppose to send them right out was by last Saturday. I'm still waiting. Now this is frustrating enough by itself so I decided to try and find some used levers to put on the MM until and if I get my levers back. Well I got the used levers in night before last and tried to install them. Well guess what. The front brake lever did not have the 6mm screw in it. Well if you think about it (now I'm thinking about it) you would need that screw if you change to new levers. Okay so I'll replace the clutch lever and run down to the Yamaha Stealer for parts. Well I go to install the lever and I notice something is missing. Then I remember I found a part on the floor awhile back I didn't recognize. So I get the part and run up to the computer and check and sure enough it goes between the clutch lever and the clutch master cylinder. Alright I know where it goes now all I have to do is install it. I go to install it and I notice I'm still missing a part. Ah ha I remember finding another part I did not know what it was and I also remembered where it was. Alright I got it but I needed to do something so I laid the part I just got on the corner of a box and I when and did whatever it was I needed to do. Alright I get back to replacing my lever and for some stupid reason I decided to move some boxes before I got started. Well remember the box I put the part on well that is one of the boxes I moved. Oh know! Where did the part go. I have hunted two days for that part and still have not found it. So now I have to order that part along with the screw and nut for the other lever. I get to the Yamaha Dealer and of course they don't have any of the parts in stock. Why would they? So I order the parts and of course it will take 3 to 5 days. I sure will be glad when this is all over.
  7. You may want to try the Michelin Commanders. I am running a set of those on one of my bikes and I have no complaints. People tell me they get about 13,000 to 15,000 miles out of a set. I have about 9,000 on mine and they still look great. I got a flat on the rear around 4,000 miles and plugged it and have been running on a plug since then. I prefer the E3 but the Michelin is doing fine.
  8. I've got about 13,000 on mine and still look great. Love them. People I've talked to say they are getting 18,000 and up on a set. I saw where someone was running 41lbs in there tire. If you are running that much or more that might be the problem. The max tire pressure rating on the E3's is 40lbs. I run about 38lbs. You may also have just gotten a bad E3.
  9. I hate to say it but some people don't know what they're talking about. I don't believe it either. Some people think any Venture made in 2000 is a MM. I also have a 2001 and a guy come up to me and asked how much it cost $30,000? People just don't do their homework.
  10. So your not a Venture rider but you are still a VentureRider...Right?
  11. I agree 100%. I am tried and true American. I've lived in the deep south all my life. It shames me to hear stories like this one. If she had broken a law or even suspected of braking a law the border patrol should say "sorry mam but I am denying you entry into the US for the following reasons". You then list the reasons. You should always be polite unless it gets ugly then use whatever force you need to use to back up you decision. And there are two sides to every story and she may have gotten a little ugly but the US border patrol should have just denied her entry into the US and that's all. If it got to ugly for the US to handle then they should have asked for help from Canadian officials to take care of their Canadian citizen. I love my country but from what I have heard the US was totally wrong!
  12. Thanks for the update and we will keep you in our prayers. Just continue to take it easy and try not to push yourself.
  13. Thank you all for the best wishes and support. As you can tell he is devoted to his sport. However it turns out I will be just as proud whether it's first or last. Of course first would be nice because he would get his Pro Card and that will open more doors for him. Thank you all again.
  14. That is terrible! No one should be treated that way unless of course we are talking about illegal immigrants from Mexico or any other illegal immigrant. Talking about taking jobs away for Americans.
  15. Very nice job!
  16. Well this is not about any motorcycle topic. It is just a proud old papa (me) doing a little boasting. As many of you who have children know raising kids is challenging and rewarding. One of my three children has accomplished something very few amateurs ever accomplish. He is a amateur natural (no steroids) body builder. He is on the current issue cover of a national magazine, Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness. I am very impressed and proud that they chose Josh for what is usually reserved for the Pro's. Muscle Tech is sponsoring him and sending him th Barbados to compete in the INBF Mr. Universe contest. This is in itself an honor because Muscle Tech does not usually sponsor amateurs on contest outside the US. I bought my tickets and I'm going with him. So wish Josh luck the competition is on June 12th. Sorry for the thread but I know my VentureRider family will support us in this endeavor. Here are a couple of pictures of Josh. One is the mag cover and the other is him at the gym. Thanks, Harry

    Seat

The Royal Star seat does not fit the MM. I have a MM and I have 4 seats for it. I have the original tan standard seat that came with it. I have a standard seat that I sent to Rick Buttler and Had him rework it. I have a Corbin seat. And last I have the pillow top seats which only come in black and I am dying them tan to match my MM. If the dye doesn't work I will have them recovered tan for my MM. The standard seat sticks in my opinion. The one I had Buttlerized is great the Corbin is great although I have heard some complaints about the Corbin especially the passenger. And of course my favorite is the pillow top. If I can get it to take a dye I will send it to Rick to have him rework it.
  18. If you bought it for a Honda dealer they probably don't even know what they sold you. I saw a Royal Star Tour Deluxe at a Honda dealer and inquired about it. When I asked the salesman about the Tour Deluxe he said oh you mean the Venture. I told him I didn't see the Venture where is it. We were talking about the Tour Deluxe and this salesman actually argued with me that it was a Venture. I would not back down so he went to the website and saw I was right and apologized. I didn't by the Tour Deluxe. So they probably overfilled it with oil. Now saying all that there are other possibilities for the oil leak. Believe me when I say this is the voice of experience talking here. The oil leaks I am about to describe all leak in the same general area as the down tube just off a couple of inches at the most. 1) rear shock leaking. This should be easy to detect since the oil would be right under the rear shock. Probably not the cause unless you move the bike before you noticed the oil. 2) leaking middle gear gasket and/or loose middle gear drainage bolt. 3) loose crankcase bolts above the middle gear cover. Oil leaks out while your riding and runs down the back of the engine and drips in the same area as the down tubes just a little behind or to the side of the down tube. I have found all of this on my bike with less than 6000 miles on it. Harry
  19. Smells bad to me. Under the photo's there is a link to click for more bikes in that price range. There is a 2005 Harley Road King with 10,000 miles for $5,400 or best offer. I think there fishing and I ain't biting.
  20. If that is the case then it may be a clogged pilot jet. A friend with a 05 had a couple of clogged pilot jets and it ran fine but idling and starting off was a little rough. I put new pilot jets in mine just to prevent anything like that happening. They are not very expensive. I probably did not need them but I had the carb apart anyway. If you do replace the pilot jets make sure they go in the right place. May not make a difference on a 1st gen (don't know) but on a 2nd gen they are different even though they look the same.
  21. Hi Bob, It was a pleasure meeting you in Jacksonville Saturday. Sorry I had to leave early but I needed to get on the road. I know nothing about a 1st gen but here are a couple of things that may be worth checking. Check all the vacuum hoses and you may want to just replace them. I know on auto's they hoses will crack in places that are very hard to see. Also in auto's sometimes the hoses get weak and will try to collapse restricting the vacuum. Also check the 4 rubber boots that the carbs sit on. I know most of the times they just crack and the crack doesn't go all the way through but just maybe??? Anyway I'm through guessing. Good luck. Harry
  22. Spotted on I-75 North bound just south on Macon, Ga. yesterday 5/8/2010. Three bikes the lead bike was a 2001 green Venture, the second bike was a 2009 red Venture, and the third bike was customized so I don't know what it was but it was nice. Any of you out there yesterday? I think it was a STAR ride as I think I saw one of the riders wearing the vest.
  23. Thanks but no thanks. I'll buy the WOLO which has more chrome for only $14 more including shipping. As much money as these bikes accessories cost I don't mind the extra $$$ for 1st quality and more chrome. Thank you very much for the heads up though.
  24. The only thing I can think of is trying to get some penetrating oil in there and let it set overnight. Might help and certainly will not hurt.
  25. Already think about what I'm going to do with all that extra time on my hands since I don't have to clean 3 bikes anymore.
