  1. I did come up with a simplified logo for some of our earlier caps. Maybe not the best and I'm not suggesting that it be included in this patch, just thought I would let you know. Here is a picture of it on a cap.
  2. Yes, it does exist. People who have used it have reported good and bad experiences. If you are out away from a dealer, they can be very slow to respond. You should receive a card that has the number on it. Some have reported it taking MONTHS before you get the card. My bike is long out of warranty so I don't think I have the card any longer and therefore, don't have the number either. Somebody here has it I'm sure.
  3. It really doesn't bother me one way or the other. Condor makes a good point though. In the early days, it was a way of helping people find us. We have become fairly well known now among the Yamaha riders and it may no longer be necessary. Just so you know, I did that on the bells. They will have VentureRider on the front but no .org. Don
  4. No problem and certainly nothing I care to argue about. We will just have to agree to disagree on this one. In the meantime, I'll continue to enjoy mine.
  5. I'm not saying that it justifies the price but there are MANY more differences on a Bushtec than just paying for the name. They have a patented suspension that is the best I have ever seen. These trailers just will not bounce whether loaded or empty. The larger motorcycle type wheels and tires are not back there not spinning like crazy to stay up with a bike running 70 MPH, no big deal but I like it that way. Their color matched paint jobs are superb...very close to any factory paint job you might have on the bike. Great swivel hitch system and heim pin coupler. The tires are very heavy weight. Many reports of people getting flats and being able to ride into the next town because the sidewalls are so strong that they really don't even feel flat. Not to say that ANY of this justifies the entire price but to each his own. You can pretty much apply the same logic to many things on the market. Why is a Cadillac so much more than a Chevrolet...they share many of the same components. The bottom line is, it's your money, spend it the way YOU want to. I love my Bushtec. Don't know that I would have it had it not been for some crazy VentureRider members but I still love it.
  6. I'm not saying that cleaning the contacts is not fine but I would caution you all that it is probably a temporary solution. Most electrical contacts are plated. Sometime nickel, sometimes copper, etc. I don't know if the contacts in this switch or solid copper or copper plated but if they are plated and you clean them enough to actually remove the pitting, I can assure you that you are only buying some time. They are copper plated to improve the conductivity. Once that copper is removed then the resistance between the contacts will be greater, arcing will be greater and you will get pitting again but sooner and worse than before.
  7. oh...I'm sorry.....did I say that out loud?
  8. Very nice bike but I DO think it is a repaint. If so, it appears that they did a very nice job though.
  9. They are a bit of a tight fit to put on but mine worked well once I DID get it on. Here is the article that I wrote for the tech library about it and there is also a link there to the kit at Dennis Kirk. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=497
  10. Well....I think the article said that the conversion was about 11,000 euro...that would be USD $16,245.27. They need not hurry on my account.
  11. Interesting story. I KNOW it's not necessary...but I would sure like to ride it. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcycles/triumph-rocket-3-turbo/index.htm
  12. I merged the two duplicate threads.
  13. Yea...just what I have to do to pay the bills. I was in Buffalo, NY this week and will be somewhere else next week...and the week after that...and the week after that.......
  14. Nawww......I'll just roll the dice and see if I remember....they are FUN to watch.
  15. Yea, our cable here is terrible and very limited. I know it doesn't help you because I don't think it's available in Canada but I ended up going with Dish Network a couple of years ago and have been SO much happier. I don't get my Internet through them but TV is much better.
  16. Just wait until you are trying to maintain a site such as THIS ONE. When we crashed a little over a year ago, I was on a business trip. At about the same time as we crashed, the Internet went down at the hotel. I ended up sitting in the parking lot of another hotel from about midnight until almost 5:00 AM rebuilding the site and getting it back up.
  17. The chat room is back now. Sorry about that. Something about them expecting us to PAY. I spoke to them via their online "Live Support" this morning. She told me that they normally send out at least 10 reminders before turning it off but I never got one. I do have access to an online customer account portal but hadn't checked it. Anyway, I pay this for 3 months at a time so we are good to go unless I forget again in 3 months.
  18. Charlie...I think you are getting senile. You posted this same thing last year. OK...here's my take on it. I can remember when I was a kid. Living in Texas with on a hot and muggy night about 95 degrees with the old swamp cooler running adding even more humidity and that dead fish odor to the house while I laid in bed sweating and trying to sleep. I later moved on with the times and we got air conditions and slept nice and cool with little humidity. I could have stuck with the old ways but I moved ahead because I COULD and was more comfortable. I can remember taking family trips in old cars. 105 degrees outside. No air conditioning, now power steering, AM radio that would only get a couple of decent channels. Later moved up to nicer cars with A/C, power steering, AM/FM/Tape and later CD and etc. Must more comfortable. I could have stuck with the hot old beater but I moved ahead because I COULD and was more comfortable. I can remember putting many miles on various motorcycles. Mostly with no windshields, no backrest, no music of any kind, no trunks or saddle bags. Just tied what I had to on it and went. Still had a great time. I was later able to upgrade to a new bike. One with cruise control, backrest, saddle bags and trunk, music, and even pull a trailer when it allows me to extend my trips and not load the bike itself down giving my wife and I more room to be comfortable. I could have stuck with the older bike but I moved ahead because I COULD...and I am more comfortable. To each his own. I love riding. I loved riding my old vibrating 250 Harley Sprint when I was 15 years old. It brought me a lot of joy. I'm a bit older now and I love riding my RSV. Complete with AM/FM/MP3, Cruise, Air Suspension, Backrest, Highway Pegs and sometimes pulling my trailer when it makes things more comfortable.
  19. This is something that Charles emailed me a while back. I fully support his efforts and what we need now are ideas and brainstorming about anything that we can do along these lines. Whether that be us doing something on our own or getting involved with an advocacy group where we can make a difference. So please, let's not take this lightly. Let's put our heads together and see if we can come up with some ideas that would make a difference.
  20. It's already in Excel format. Check the sticky "Updated Members List" at the top of the Watering Hole.
  21. I just received word that our VentureRider Guardian Bells are being shipped to me today. That means that I should have them in a two or three days and will then get them shipped out to you ASAP.
  22. I agree...I don't know what is wrong with people like that. Keying cars, kicking things, etc. It's sad.
  23. Nope...no kidding... http://www.hitchdoc.com/price.html That $100.00 looks pretty good.
  24. That's a bargain. Hitchdoc sells them for $235.00 and the only chrome you can see is the bit of chrome where the ball goes. Heck...take it and have it chromed and you are still ahead of the game. Not to mention that they don't even sell one for the '83-'85. OH...Hitchdoc also makes one for the Magna...it's only $258.00.
  25. OOPS....Guess I should have read it closer before cutting and pasting the list. Not only did I remove it from the list but also from the supported sites. Thanks for noticing.
