That link is not working for some reason.

I would like to have a nice table lift as well. That is something that I hope to add sometime this year.
-
I have seen this before but have found NO verification that there is any truth to it.
-
Nice, you should have a great time on it. I agree with you about those little mirrors but otherwise, looks like you did good.

Monty is right. We have been down this road before. While most of us here DO wear helmets when we ride, I think that most also agree that it is the right of those who live in states that don't require them to make their own decisions. I may not agree with a person's decision but I respect their right to make it and we are not going to resort to name calling and hateful discussion about it here.

Oil Filter cross ref list
Freebird replied to 67mini67's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
That's interesting. I have run the NAPA gold filter on my RSV and it worked as it should have. I wonder if they changed something. I ran into a similar problem once with a Honda filter. I found that the aftermarket filters for the RSV were the same as the Honda Shadow. I had a couple of Honda filters left over from when I owned a '95 Shadow Ace so figured I might as well use them. Found a similar situation to what you are describing. The Honda filter screwed on but didn't seat tightly. -
I don't know. I've got mixed feelings about it. I agree that the mother seemed much more concerned than the little girl did. Maybe it was SHE who was embarrassed. On the other hand. If one of my children was indeed being bullied and teased and they were feeling really self-conscious about it and there was something that I could do....I would have to give it some thought.

Need opinion, bad battery?
Freebird replied to bikerpop33's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
It won't help you this time but in the future, I recommend that you remove the battery and store it somewhere warm in the house. Once batteries go dead, they will freeze and then are pretty much shot. -
No, you can still do it exactly they way you did before if that is how you prefer.

Because you are a moderator....what if some of those guys need some moderation?

Yes, but you can always use the classifieds like you always did. Just go there and look the sections that you want to. This will hopefully be the best of both worlds. For those that abosuletly just DON'T WANT to see anything in the "Links to Classifieds" show up when they click on the New Posts button, they can go to their profile, edit options, and exclude that forum. They will still show up on the home page though.

Post the responses here. I'll close the poll thread. Thanks.

Yesterday I made a change to the classifieds. People that post in the classifieds have long complained that many of you never check the classifieds. I don't really agree with that but that is the perception. So what I have done is change it so that when an ad is posted in the classifieds, a link to it is automatically posted in the "Links to Classifieds" folder. Once an ad is posted, the link is automatically added within about 10 minutes. Hopefully this will work well and the ads will get more exposure. Now the initial responses to this change were mostly negative. I THINK that was because when I first made the change, links were made for all the existing ads and the entire home page of "new posts" and the new post button brought up nothing but classifieds. It completely buried all the other new posts that people like to read. Now that the initial import is over, the automatic posts will only be made as new classifieds are added. That is usually only 2-4 times a day and some days none at all so there shouldn't be a flood of posts like there was when I first did it. Sooooooooo.......based on this information regarding how it should work from now on, do most of you like it or not? I also want to hear again from those of you who posted in the polls area that you did NOT like it. Does this change your mind or do you still not like it? If everybody REALLY hates it...then just let me say that it was BradT's idea. If you like it, I don't mind taking full credit.

"I" basket question
Freebird replied to YamaGeezer's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Not necessarily. Sometimes it will, usually it will just decrease it and/or move it to another RPM range. In rare cases, it has even made it worse. -
I think you may not get them on any further. It seems that when I tried the RKs on my bike, there was a weld or something that created a bead inside the muffler that prevented it from going on any further. I'm not sure if they are all that way but I know that some are.
-
Yes, but I think that was resolved a while back. This isn't very server intensive but if I see it causing a problem, I'll change it. Right now, I am still awaiting feedback on whether or not people even like it. The initial responses were almost all negative but now that the initial flood of posts is over, I want to hear from folks again.

Looks very similar to one that I bought about 3 years ago except mine was an automatic transmission. I only rode it home after buying it, about 25 miles, but it was fun to ride. Sold it soon after buying it so didn't get to ride it again. I THINK that mine came from the dealer with the touring package but it was all made by Windjammer. I'm thinking it was a '78 model. The bags and fairing on yours look sleeker. Very nice.

Well, the Ipad was delivered right on schedule. I did play with it a couple evenings and I just honestly don't care for it. I absolutely do NOT understand the fascination that many folks have with the. It's not something that I can sit on my lap and tilt to a comfortable viewing position and have the keyboard remain in a comfortable typing position. Just makes absolutely no sense at ALL to me. Now, I had refrained from reporting back on it because if other folks like those things, then it certainly doesn't bother me. Now let me make something very clear. I am NOT anti Apple in any way. I have a couple of Ipods and I like them fine. I DO think that it is STUPID that Apple intentionally tries to prevent the consumer from installing replacement batteries though. Yes, I know that it CAN be done and have done so on one of my Ipods but they sure don't want you to. I also don't have any problem with their computers. If that's what people want to spend their money on, it is absolutely none of my business. I just don't choose to spend two - four times as much for a computer that I don't like as well.

OK...you can now. I hope you read my earlier post though. The influx of all the messages was a result of the feature being initialized. There will typically only be a couple of posts a day added from the classifieds. Nevertheless, I have added that forum to the exclude list. It is something that has to be done when a new forum is added and I just forgot to do it.

Folks, I THINK you are all forming your opinions way too quickly. Give it a chance. What you saw was that when I initially added this feature, it imported all the existing ads into that forum so it appeared to overwhelm all other posts. If it works as I expect though, it will now only import new ads as they are placed. That is usually no more than a couple a day and some days, none at all. So, give it at least a few hours and THEN let me know if you still don't like it.
-
OK...done. I have created a RSS feed from the classifieds that automatically checks the classifieds and posts the ads in the Links to Classifieds forum. I have it set to run every 10 minutes for now. I may change that later after we test this for a few days. Note, you no longer need to post your ad to the forum to make sure that people see it. Once you post your ad in the classifieds, it will automatically create a new thread in the links to classifieds thread. At the bottom of each new post is a link that says "more". clicking that link will take you to the actual ad. We'll see how it goes. I can always remove it if people don't like it. The posts in the forum will self-delete after 30 days.
