  1. Ok guys, after two weeks of looking for my keys I finally loaded up my bike thursday and took it to a lock and key shop. $105 later.... I had keys. I brought it home and joyfully place it in its place of honor and covered it up in anticipation of a wonderul ride Friday morning after mowing the grass. I got up at 6:00 this morning and a while I was huffing and puffing with my mower a rather playful angel appeared above me name Bubba. This angel called for all hid friends to gather around and watch this feller mow. Bubba says " hey fellers this heres the guy whos been lookin fer his keys two weeks. Watch this". And with those last two words he tosses my keys in front of my lawn mower just in time for me to watch the blade mangle them a bit. Yeah he got quite a chuckle out of me Im sure. Too bad I didnt decide to mow the lawn sooner. Oh well...it was only $105 ..or 26 gallons of gas..sniff sniff..
  2. Hey guys, all GREAT suggestions. I will take off my helmet lock and take it to the dealer Monday. That is a great and less painful idea. Thanks millions Greg and all who replied. Many blessings to you all. Terry
  3. Hey guys, I just bought a home a couple weeks ago and spent two weeks moving to it. I rode my Venture a week ago yesterday to go show a storage building dealer how to get to my place with a new building. I parked the Venture and for the next 7 days worked like a dog moving. Guess what. SOMEWHERE....AT SOME TIME...in the last 7 days I must have dropped my keys. I called the Yamaha dealer and when he found out how old my Venture was....Im sure he fell to the floor screaming... AND YOU WANT WHAT??? Oh well, no help there. He said to take my ignition out and bring it to him but he doubts he can do anything with a bike that old. Second problem...that key works the saddle bags trunk and ignition but there was a second yamaha key on the ring that takes the gas cap off. Bummer. I have not ridden in a week one day and 8 hours and I am having withdrawls big time. This move broke my wallet big time so I need a cheap idea (yeah I know...now you guys are laying on the floor saying ..YOU WANT WHAT???). Well.... any ideas would be welcome. Terry the keyless:crying:
  4. Well guys add me to the numbers. Went on a ride after church sunday ended up down a dead end rode, too narrow to turn around in one swoop but I caught a bad case of stupid and tried it anyway, lost my footing on loose rocks and down she went on my ankle no less. Broke a chunk of faring off the side but I repaired that this week. Knew better when I did it....oh well at least the only one watching was my buddy on his new Harley laughing his tail off....at least he didnt have his camera with him..lol
  5. Oh man like you guys that little bike brings back many memories. One of my best friends in childhood had one and I rode it and not too far in the future bought my first brand new bike, a Kawasaki 100 enduro. I still remember how proud I felt riding that bike off the show room floor. Man would I love to have it back. Soooo many great memories. Terry
  6. Hey Jeff and guys, I really appreciate the help. This should help get the old girl paper trained. Terry
  7. Bingo dude, that was what I mean brake fluid. As for Bike Bandit, since they dont likes an 84 XVZ1200 in pulling up parts, what model do you use to find part for your 83? Thanks for all your help. Terry
  8. Hey Jeff, I am having some oil leak problems in that area as well. I opened the middle gear cover and the "o" ring in the middle was broken so I replaced it. I put the cover back on and the leak is greatly reduced but I still get oil seeping out of the two screws holding the cover on. I did not find any kind of washer behind either screw. If this is what you are talking about, where can I get these copper washers? I have also found hydraulic fluid from time to time puddled on the floor under the bike if I havent ridden the bike in a few days. Any idea about that? Thanks bro Terry
  9. Well the good news is.. I got a great deal on them on ebay.. the bad news is.. I know why I got a great deal on them on ebay. I guess they cant handle the stress of being on a 1st Gen. They are overwhelmed by the legend of the 1st Gen...lol :rotfl:
  10. Hmm... Im not impressed with Harley boots. I bought a pair about 3 months ago. They are now cracking across the middle of the sole on both boots. They are very comfortable but they cant take sitting on top a yammer. They arent strong enough I guess. LOL.. wasted that $120 bucks.
  11. Yeah the politicians hate the competition. After all, if you go shooting crooks, the capitals would be empty..lol:cool10::rotf:
  12. yeah that will teach him to shoot off his mouth in the presence of a beautiful woman. :rotf:
  13. Heeey... I have seen that white stuff before.... ON OUR BEACHES:rotf:...LOL
  14. Man.... is this Venture Nursing facility? Just kidding... I walk with a cane most of the winter because of a busted up back years ago that now has degenerative arthritis. I keep my compact cane strapped to my venture. I am also only good for about 100 miles at a time but brother I will keep stopping if it means I can keep riding. Never heard of the med injectors you speak of either. Maybe this is something new that is going to be great for us. Time will tell I guess.
  15. Hey Frogman, I quit carrying my two strap in my bag on my 1st Gen, those 2nd gens are too heavy on my to pull and slow me down. Guess I could just get a wrecker service to give me some of thier business cards and I could pass them out...:rotf::stirthepot:
  16. From what I have seen on Ebay they arent selling 1st Gens in ONE PIECE anymore. I have seen several say the parts came off a running 1st gen. Brings tears to my eyes. A perfecting good working 1st Gen canabalized. Can you see someone removing the leg off old grandpa to sell him one piece at a time? Hmmmmmm.... wonder how much I COULD get for my ole 84 parted out ...:rotf:
  17. Ok 86er, first of all those mussles are world famous oysters out of the Appalachicola Bay. A pack of crackers, some Louisianna Hot sauce and a bag of Appalachicola's finest is a day close to heaven. Have mercy, im drooling on myself. As for the cold here in Pensacola Florida...I went to work on my Venture this morning and it was 21 degrees. Coldest ride I have had in years. Im a born and bread Floridian and not equipped for those nor easters. I gotta go check tomorrow and see if I can find a Jimmy Buffet flowery shirt with longs sleeves and thinsolate. :rotf:
  18. I hear ya Jeff.... here in Pensacola it will be in the teens too when I head off to work in the morning on my bike.. brrrrrrr....Im a born and bread Floridian..not equiped for that kind of cold.. but.. a ride is a ride...lol
  19. Yup my transmission went out on my cage a couple months ago. Told my wife I am working on it. I wonder how long I can get away with that? After all she has her cage and I have my bike...lol...but Im working on fixing my cage... really. You are a Peg Monkey You live to ride. If you are not scraping pegs or bouncing of the limiter you are bored. You wear all the gear 'cuz you know what it is like to ride asphalt. Keep an eye on your six, because if the law ain't chasing you down, your buddies would like to catch up.
  20. Man Frog.... I would never rub in the fact its going to be mid 50s and sunny down here in Florida. Only white stuff Im going to see is on the beaches as I pass by them on my first ride of 08 ....but dont worry.... I would never ever ever rub it in... ok..maybe just a little...lol.. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!:rotf:
  21. Well that old fuel might cause a problem. If the heater starts pinging and you cant get the flame to rev up very high could be the octane is a little low. You may have to jump start it with several matches before you getting running on all wicks. :rotf:
  22. Hey Gene, your just across the crick from me... ok..MObile Bay is bigger than a creek...anyway...if your ever toward Pensacola give me a holler. My ole Venture needs to stretch her legs from time to time. Terry
  23. Shooter...you win my friend... absolutely no contest and congratuations. Thats awesome. You are blessed.
  24. Marcarl...please feel free to share it with whom ever you wish. Terry
  25. Merry Christmas Bikers The trees are all set in each biker home Ornaments of yammers and sickles of chrome. Packages below of leather and gear. Cant wait to open them they say with a tear. Remembering the birth is a primary thought The Son of God given, our sins He has bought. A time for family and friends and love. The star in the heavens, a reminder above. Blessed to be living, blessed to be free. Blessed to remember while looking at that tree. The Savior is born, the angel had cried. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good ride. Written by Terry L.
