Don I have to disagree with the bad business man quote. Great move. :happy65:I believe in karma.

It's a hard decision to make. I too think it extended my grandmother's life, she was happier having someone to talk to all day and things to keep her occupied. We're at the time to consider this with our mother now. She hates setting alone all day but won't talk about getting help or a nursing home. Dementia is getting her pretty bad, dr says more interaction and things to do will slow it but she won't listen. I have to commend you for holding off so long but sooner or later there's not much choice.

Plumb cornfusing ain't it. Sorta like when I'm training new guys to use the jaws of life, we flip a car and tell them to open the drivers door, 9 out of 10 will go to the passenger side. (I did it too when I was new) I called my brother that worked for Hannigan and all their diffs are installed upside down too.
-
I'm not a Ford guy. Did the old Ford diffs have a vent on top? If so maybe that is plugged to be the drain????? I know Hannigan used Ford diffs for years that were machined to use in trikes. I don't know what all they changed in them but they made their own axles to fit them.

Take a bottle and draw a rotational arrow on the end of it. Flip it end for end and look at the arrow. I used to see it with some machinery we had that had a gear box with universal mounts. When mounted upside down it would reverse. It is a head scratcher to think about. The input rotation is the same so the output changes.

I got IMCs on EBay less than$100 each. We never had headsets before so I bought cheaper ones to try. Work fine.

Passing of a friend brings question about accident investigations
RDawson replied to baylensman's topic in Watering Hole
I've seen my own reports twisted in the paper, they may have quoted the report correctly or not. I don't know the laws there but they vary state to state, here the only people with the authority to pronounce a death are a dr or coroner. We are in a small town so usually the coroner comes to the scene, if a person is transported by ambulance then they are pronounced at the hospital. It also seems to make a difference whether they actually hit the other vehicle or wreck while avoiding it as far as fault goes. Sorry for the loss of your friend and I hope this all gets ironed out. -
If flipped over the rotation would be reversed.

How many can we get?
RDawson replied to RDawson's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
The post has evidently bern removed. It was for an autistic young man that loves motorcycles and wanted patches for his vest. Original post was asking motorcycle groups to send a patch from different parts of the world. I don't know why it's gone, scam maybe? -

Needing crush washer part numbers.

I can't imagine the trouble I'd be in if I listened to the voices in my head. -
I had one to drop a cam. There isn't a bearing in the aluminum case, just riding on oil. Check that before rebuild or there could be a second failure. Luckily we have a Briggs factory here in town and I managed to buy a new QC'd motor for $125. Every so often they pull one off the line and test it for a few hours, I got one of those 25 hp. Bolted right back in place of the Kohler.

3d printing replacement fairing and parts
RDawson replied to Harddrv1's topic in Poor Man Tips and Fixes
3D printing brings about some wild and interesting ideas for fairings. I had considered having some custom fairings shaped like the 3rd gens made for the 1st gen bikes. I love the look of the the TCs but the V twin and price tag are not for me. I had decided to sell the 86 as I dont really ride it anymore with the 07 comfort being in the same garage, buuuut now you've got me reconsidering. I really don't have the time for customizing a bike but a new custom body on a first gen would be fun. -

Not for me, but Marca has a different take

Sorry Carl, guess I owe you a beer for dredging up such horrid stories :Avatars_Gee_George: -
I still use the homemade water manometer, two glass bottles, rubber stoppers, and vinyl tubing. One of these days I'll hook up to a carb tune or vac gauges and see how it compares.

I heard it at the hotel over a beer at Freebird's MD. See if you can coax it out of Marcarl.

There you go trying to interject logic and common sense into government Condor. Where would all that lobby :mo money::mo money:go then?

A lot of good answers here. I wish there was one flat answer but it's going to boil down to the opinion of the officers investigating the call. Like many said there may be legal costs and headaches if you are forced to shoot, but that beats the alternative. While I have the CCW I rarely carry as I live in an area that I just don't feel the need. I think the fact that most houses here have guns makes people think twice about doing something stupid. I do know of a few cases where shooters were not charged with anything because it was pretty clear they shot in self defense. I have many people in my family from law enforcement and I work around many more regularly, most all officers I know fully support CCW because they realize better than most how slow a response time can sometimes be if they're tied up on another call. That's even assuming you have time to call them. A lot of times we only have two deputies patrolling our whole county at a time, they may 20 minutes away from a call or more. To me everyone needs to be equipped to safeguard their family and let the police do their job when they arrive. I am very thankful that I don't feel that I need to worry about it much here but fully realize many live in areas that needing a weapon is a reality every day.

Reminds me of Marcarl and his story of telling the border control he was coming to meet his motorcycle gang.

The right sized nut welded on a rod makes a great Allen wrench if you can't find one. -
