Just when Ya think you are making progress!!!
RDawson replied to Yammer Dan's topic in Watering Hole
Yep. Lots o fun. I remember flying in 18 twenty five ton packs with a chopper on a toy factory on a humid day. The ground straps arcing enough to make you pucker, then starting them up two days later in the rain. I just can't understand why I don't miss that job. Industrial stuff for 13 years until a chemical plant made me decide I was done. Crazy stuff in there. -
I've never ridden the coveted 83, gotta say I like my Senior (86VR) though. She's been around the block a few times, knows what she wants and will get you a fast ride without any hesitation. Better brakes and no tranny issues of the 83. On the other hand I'm sorta partial to the Sophomore (07RSV), she's a little younger, takes a little more coaxing to get up to full speed, and and is a little wider in the hips so it's a softer ride that can go all day. So do you want one a little narrow in the hips like the 83, one that has more baggage ( MKII or 2nd gen) or something like the 2018 that will always be HOT? It's hard to pick only one year. I did pick up a 1969 model American made unit back in 92 that while may be a little wider in the hip now and may have a few more blemishes from the miles and two kids climbing all over her that will be what I keep when two wheels are no longer an option. If the 69 model reads this I'll probably be sleeping in the shop with the others. :innocent:

Hopefully they'll be straight up. My experience is that a rental car gets them in gear for a quicker settlement. To them rentals are extra expense and want to get it settled as soon as possible to get out from under that expense. Having gone thru this recently with wife's wreck they paid quick and a fair price. The medical is gonna drag out for a year or more, I hope they treat us right then too.

I agree. With lawyers today he'd probably get out of it claiming self defense though. At the VERY LEAST hit and run and failure to aid should stick. Much stiffer penalties are deserved but who knows in today's legal system. I'm definitely not defending his actions but trying to see it from a legal standpoint.

I just replayed the link, the original I saw went to a second video with an interview of biker. The link didn't do that. I'll try to find the second one.

It said he was trying to get car to pull over. Driver could possibly claim fear of violence or self defense. I agree he didn't deserve that but trying to stop a car is a losing proposition. I'll admit to trying to get my hands on a driver before with ill intentions. Just wanted everyone to see and stay safe.

I know I get highly irritated with cages but we're not gonna win a road rage battle. Watch this video from Florida and stay safe. Biker has to take some blame here. https://www.yahoo.com/news/driver-sought-cops-ramming-motorcyclist-132728068.html

Carb Issues on my 86 Venture Royale
RDawson replied to arcee360's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It should clip to the float. -
It also helps if it is a reputable company. Some pay fairly, some are hell to deal with.

In KY they pay market value plus sales tax. No book value, local dealer average of similar cars.

What the H.E. double hockey sticks?got back from a 4 day ride two days ago, woke up to this today. Global warming my hiney. April in the south. I've alway heard April showers bring May flowers, never heard it say April showers bring snow plowers.

We just got back from a 4 day trip, this nailed it perfectly.

Snow tonight in west Ky, 70 degrees by Friday. Worked outside today in a t-shirt, heavy coats tomorrow.

I'm saying Kermit. It really reminds me of those toy frogs from the 70s. You pulled them across the floor and wheels in the back legs made em "hop".

I think you'd need to paint it green. Looks like a frog to me. I ran across it for sale on FB not far from me.

Last few days I got the Amplirider, mic mutes, and the Skydoc clutch installed. Spooned on a new rear tire, checked all fluids and today got the luggage packed. Tomorrow me and momma are gonna head out for five days of CTFW. If you see a blue (best color) RSV loaded down and 2 up running around KY, NC, and Tenn give a big wave.

We're heading out Monday morning. Looks like we will head due east through Ky, see some mountain roads, then jump over into North Carolina and play a little. We'll try to get down into East Tennessee Tuesday evening and head west toward the storms. If I time it right the rain will pass us by during the night and we can head back out Wednesday morning seeing the sights slowly heading back west and home on Friday. If anybody is around Asheville, Gatlinburg, Nashville and points in between maybe we can meet over coffee and a meal. Loose plans based on the current weather maps, we'll play it by ear checking the weather often. May make a part of the Blue Ridge yet. 5 days of disconnect therapy badly needed.:7_2_104[1]:.

I totally agree about tomorrow. However I'd rather stick to a tried and true ride for a while. I know what to expect from the 2 Ventures I have. Once the new technology proves out I may consider one. Flip side of that is I love what I have and can buy lots of tires and gas for the $25k. They look like awesome bikes and hope they show the same quality of past Ventures. I sincerely hope it's the best bike to hit the road and you love it, it's just not for me right now. The 07 RSV has 38k on the clock and lots of miles left in her. Hope to have 40k on her by this time next week. Enjoy the bike.

No permanent tag in KY. We have to pay property taxes every year for anything on the road except small trailers.
