With key in run position push the select button unti IC shows on the display. Using the up arrow button set the intercom volume to 20. You should then be able to just speak in the mic to test the headsets. If this doesn't work there are write ups in the tech library to troubleshoot the system. I've not had to go there yet personally. Others here can chime in on that.

Have you Checked the volume control? The button is only used for the CB unless you have mic mutes installed. The intercom is on all the time.

37 MPG in a new F-150 with a 2.7 liter boxer engine
RDawson replied to frankd's topic in Watering Hole
I went back and watched the rest of the video and figured out this is an independent company that used a Ford truck. I wasn't trying to start a Ford vs Chevy thing. We all have our preferences for our own reasons. I'm usually a bow tie guy but right now I have vehicles from all the big three and one Nissan. In my experience with Ford trucks the last 15-20 years they've been in a hurry to get new things out without enough long term testing. All manufacturers have some issues, I've just personally had fewer issues with GM. -

I hope they do their homework better on this before it goes into production. I've repaired several heads on their 5.4s from blowing plugs. The fix for that was the plugs that snapped. Let alone the 6.0 debacle, Ford used a solid International engine but tried to squeeze too much out of it and created a monster. I don't mean to bash them but I'll never buy a new engine design from them until it proves out on the road. -
Cleaning and Bleeding Brakes

Sorry I don't have part numbers. I know I've bought for Honda there but i don't remember ever having to rebuild any of my Venture calipers. I take the parts in and they mic the piston and bore, go to the shelf, and bring me seals. They usually even install the seals. -
I'm not afraid of the bike at all, however the 1200 mile round trip in this weather gets me. I drove through the Rockies in a snow storm last month. Not really excited about doing another trip like that right now.

-15 wind chill and snow blowing for hours. 3-4 inches solid ice on the roads. I surrender HIT THE OFF BUTTON.

Cleaning and Bleeding Brakes
RDawson replied to camos's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Just make sure they know it's for brakes to get the right type of rubber. Some rings don't like brake fluid. Like I said the shop I go to has a huge stock, kits for some of my bigger cylinders cost $200-250 but I get them apart and take in the parts to get them sized and just buy what I need for around $40. These are 6" diameter rams 6' long. -
It's been so cold here this week people are buying up used HDs, they run an exhaust hose outside and use them for heat.

The fact I'm 600 miles away with snowy roads is all that's keeping me from going to check on it. If I knew she'd ride it I'd suck it up and go but she suffered a bad break in her right arm ina car wreck recently. Dr isn't sure she's going to get full motion back. While it's a good price I wouldn't profit from flipping it after my time and costs to go after it and fixing any issues it might have. You know there's always something even if it's just preventative from not knowing the service history.

If you have a hydraulic shop near you look there for o-rings. I rebuild cylinders now and then on some of my equipment and have found buying them separate instead of a kit saves a bunch of cash. Take your parts and they can mic them to gets perfect fit. The shop I deal with stocks a ton of sizes and types, the last ones I got for a brake cylinder cost a couple bucks. -
I'm 600 miles away and the only trike I have any experience with is my sister's Hannigan 1500 Wing. I don't know how well the training wheel trikes handle and perform. She's not one who'll drop the hammer and push it but I do want something that handles fairly well. We'll have to start from scratch as she's never driven anything with a clutch, fun days ahead for me if we get one.

https://m.ebay.com/itm/Yamaha-Road-Star-2000-Silverado-Edition-Trike-Motorcycle-12-668-Miles/232463539378?hash=item361fe81cb2:g:Xh0AAOSwxvBZoHbg I ran across this today. I know nothing about the Road Stars and admit it. The wife has somewhat considered a trike of her own instead of two up all the time. I'm not ready to go that way yet personally. I know this is a cheap trike kit but am considering checking it out as a starter bike for her to see if she likes piloting her own. She had never been on a motorcycle until I got back into riding 8-10 years ago. $1700 seems like a cheap test bike. On the other hand I don't want a terrible handling ride to turn her off riding altogether. Does anyone have any input that might educate me a little? (Just on the bike, I know I could use more educating on other things). Or anyone in the Appleton area that might have a few minutes to put an eye and an ear on it for me?

Rode the RSV Wednesday, temps around 60. Rain all day yesterday in the low 60s. 18 today with a good layer of freezing rain under a couple inches of sleet and snowing now. Gotta love living in an area where you can see multiple seasons in a 24 hour period. Now to watch cars sliding everywhere. We were working a fire call at 3:00 am in the rain and by 6:00 cars were frozen up under a layer of ice. Temps dropped 30 degrees in 3 hours. Went to work in a t shirt and left in coveralls. :snow:

Come on guys, how about some consistency? High of 62 tomorrow, low of 20, then up to a foot of snow and ice. You're making it hard on us in the South. :snow::no-no-no: . That just ain't right.

Prayers up. -
I posted a tongue in cheek post recently poking fun at everyone up north about how we get very few days of too cold to ride weather and don't get a season to work on our bikes here. I might have slightly exaggerated our year round riding season in the interest of humor. Now I'm cryin UNCLE. It was 60 degrees here a year ago, today I took a picture in town that many of you wouldn't call cold but it's killing me. I might have deserved this for poking fun of others, but this just ain't right.

84 Venture Royale CLASS problems
RDawson replied to old's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Look in the 1st gen read only tech section. You can install a resistor and shut the light off. One of the first things I did to my 86. -
Merry Christmas to all.

Ok it's flying in the air in west Ky now.

We'll be traipsing around East Tennessee down to north Florida the 1st week of April. Would like to find a Venture group if anything's going on.

One of the great things about living in the Bible Belt is we don't get politically correct. Nobody tells us what to say or how to think. Too much southern rebellion mentality for that. Merry Christmas has stayed the norm for us. Hearing happy holidays around here will get you bad looks or a quick correction. I'm glad to hear it's spreading around again.

Congrats.

I get it. When I decide to take off I usually take the wife. I think we both need it, we just cruise eAch in our own little world inside the helmets. Back in October we had a vacation planned and work had me stressed to the breaking point, she and the girls took a car while I rode the 850 miles on my own. They had their hen party on the drive and I arrived a different person. We then spent the week as a family vacation, probably the last one as my oldest starts med school this fall. Cell phones during the drive then turned them off the rest of the time.
