  1. There are instructions in the read only library to make them. Fairly easy.
  2. So those of us who have both 1st and 2nd gens have a 2-1 advantage of these 3genners right? That's how I read it. :witch_brew:
  3. It'll be a short search. The smart guys will be here soon.
  4. I'd post this in the 2nd gen section. If 5th is the only gear not working I think it'd be internal transmission. I've never been in the Venture tranny, there's plenty here that can help better than I can.
  5. Will it not shift to 5th or shifts and quits pulling?
  6. Prayers for Dan and his family. I was really looking forward to meeting him at MD. I never met him but had a good time bantering back and forth over basketball. I owe him a cup of coffee from a basketball bet that I was looking forward to settling. RIP Dan.
  7. Yep. And everybody automatically believes you know what you're doing with a stethoscope hanging around your neck.
  8. I use a HF cheap stethoscope to find leaks. Pull the probe out of the hose and move the hose around all the joints. You'll hear the smallest of leaks. I use that to isolate ticks and noises from engines too. You can find where all the noises come from.
  9. It shouldn't be too hard. From what I've heard there are people over in the eastern part of the state that cash social security checks and vote every election 10-15 years after their obituary was published. If they can do that a drivers license should be a piece of cake.
  10. Very similar to KY. If you keep your CCW current here(by giving the state $$$ ) every five years you fill out one paper registering the sale and they record your license info then you're out the door. No background check required. Nothing required to buy ammo.
  11. Here in KY it's a little easier. If you are buying from a private party, pay the guy the cash and walk away.............legally. Buying new or from a dealer you fill out a paper, the dealer calls it in and if you pass the check pay him and take the gun home with you. Usually `15 minutes or so. If you have a concealed carry permit fill out the paper, show him your card, and walk away with your gun. No checks or waiting for ammo. Open carry is legal without a permit. Loaded in the glove box of a car is legal without permit. Just don't write a bad check for guns or ammo, it's an automatic federal felony. Dealer friend is going through that now, he took a check that bounced and the feds are all over it. That's all if you have a KY driver's license.
  12. I have the PCW set from Skydoc in both of my Ventures. Recently took a trip two up through the mountains without a slip. No problems on high interstate speeds either. Only thing I notice is clutch is a little stiffer to pull. Look under member vendors here to find Skydoc for kits.
  13. Is oil change overdue? Correct oil? Those will also make gear change difficult.
  14. Yep the used market isn't much right now. I'm going to try to unload the 1st gen this year. I know I'll take a beating but just don't ride it since I bought the 07. With long legs and beat up knees the 86 just isn't comfortable for long hauls. I gave 4K for the 07 with 30k miles on it last summer, that doesn't bode well for what the 86 will bring. Not enough $$$ in both of them to think of a new bike.
  15. And there is the issue. COMMON SENSE went out the window to make room for political correctness. The lack of common sense in our modern world scares me.
  16. Wouldn't the second and third gens automatically be hotter catching the exhaust off the 1st gen out front?😝😝😝
  17. The title got me. My wife says I'm screwed up and need help all the time. Good luck on the clutch.
  18. Don't let it get the best of you. I've made purchases in the past thinking it's " good enough" instead of holding out for what I wanted, then buyer remorse sets in. Be patient, have faith, and be ready to post some pics. And no I'm not good at following that advice. Good Luck.
  19. I went ahead and pulled the trigger to say we're coming, got the vacation day. The holdup may be MIL was just diagnosed terminal with Alzheimer's, we'll see what happens.
  20. I would pull the plug, oil the cylinder well and spin it to the compression stroke so valves are closed, then reinstall plug. Carb and tank dry is how I store the generator I use during power outages as they are few and far between here. I just fuel it up and crank it as needed. The bigger generator I use working gets stored with carb dry and tank filled to the top with alcahol free gas.
  21. Double check the kill switch on right bar.
  22. Yep. Lots o fun. I remember flying in 18 twenty five ton packs with a chopper on a toy factory on a humid day. The ground straps arcing enough to make you pucker, then starting them up two days later in the rain. I just can't understand why I don't miss that job. Industrial stuff for 13 years until a chemical plant made me decide I was done. Crazy stuff in there.
  23. I've never ridden the coveted 83, gotta say I like my Senior (86VR) though. She's been around the block a few times, knows what she wants and will get you a fast ride without any hesitation. Better brakes and no tranny issues of the 83. On the other hand I'm sorta partial to the Sophomore (07RSV), she's a little younger, takes a little more coaxing to get up to full speed, and and is a little wider in the hips so it's a softer ride that can go all day. So do you want one a little narrow in the hips like the 83, one that has more baggage ( MKII or 2nd gen) or something like the 2018 that will always be HOT? It's hard to pick only one year. I did pick up a 1969 model American made unit back in 92 that while may be a little wider in the hip now and may have a few more blemishes from the miles and two kids climbing all over her that will be what I keep when two wheels are no longer an option. If the 69 model reads this I'll probably be sleeping in the shop with the others. :innocent:
