  1. See I knew somebody would catch what I wasn't thinking about on the parts order. However since the RSV speedo is electronic I think I'll skip that. thanks for the input.
  2. After 25 degrees last week and a glancing blow from the Fool the week before we now are looking at temps in the 60s. I plan to load the pillion Sunday and make one more run for the year. Once that's over I'm going to put her on the lift (bike not pillion) and start a tear down. I bought the bike a year ago and don't know the maintenance record of the last owner. The first owner was diligent and put most of the miles on, I put on about 14,000 this year and the clocks showing 44k. Valve shims are first, new wheel bearings, brakes, pack neck and swing arm bearings, all fluids again, MAYBE a dark side rear tire, plugs, and carb synchronize for sure. I updated all the electronics to my liking already, and added the clutch spring kit from Skydoc last spring. Ignition bypass added also. Shock and forks seem fine so probably nothing there besides fork oil change. I've looked at the list of known issues and believe I have it pretty well covered. What am I missing on the list? Really thinking of fuel pump points as preventive maintenance. In the past I've been more of an oil change and tires kind of guy fixing everything else as it comes up, really want to stay ahead of the game on this one as I plan on keeping it into retirement. Best bike I've ever had IMO. Last year: fluids, tires, front brakes, battery, bad boy horn, ign bypass, Buddy Rich splitter, Garmin gps, Bluetooth receiver hardwired, amplirider, mic mutes, removed cassette and installed charger plug with USB ports, clutch kit. Sure I'm forgetting something.
  3. Spammers and robocallers deserve the death penalty.
  4. I used one from eBay for around $20 and wired in the same way you are. I stream pandora all the time on it, works great. I ended up running a new hot wire from the battery later to run more items I installed in the fairing and used the aux plug to fire a relay to power all the extras in there. Good luck.
  5. I just saw this video about trailer dynamics and tongue weight. It does a pretty good job of showing the importance of proper loading. It doesn't really show tongue length and axle location differences though.
  6. If I understand you're getting oil from radiator overflow? If so I'd start with the Twinkie seals.
  7. We're hit in West KY!!!!!
  8. With only a 30-40 minute ride per charge I'd rather have the bikini clad pillion.
  9. I have a very close friend in his 50s with type II that had gained tons of weight, losing his eyesight, and was going down hill quickly. He got to the point he could only walk 50-100 feet without stopping to rest. This is a guy that holds many long bow world and national records, great bow hunter, and was very active but got to the point I'd have to help him climb into my truck. A few months ago he saw some videos by Dr Jason Fung on YouTube about intermediate fasting and diabetes. He watched those and downloaded an app called "body fast" and decided to try it. He cut his carb intake and cut out sugar. All I can say is WOW at the difference, he's lost over 75 lbs and counting, walking around, going deer hunting again, and is now off ALL of his diabetes meds even the insulin. His A1-C is under control and his sugar levels are great. I know it won't work for everyone but I thought I'd share it. It doesn't cost anything to try it, nobody is selling you anything and I've seen it work. If anyone is interested I will get you connected to him on Facebook, he'll be glad to share his experience. I know this sounds like I'm selling something, I'm not and neither is he. He's not dieting, just watching what he cooks and eats all he wants.
  10. Is this what you're looking for? https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?16960-hiway-pegs-happy-wife
  11. Awesome. Thanks. Hope the new bike is doing well.
  12. Hey Ron I'm reviving your thread. I'm looking to add similar pegs for the school marm. That 9 hour ride home from Don's MD got to her a bit. Do you have any pics of the brackets you made? I haven't pulled the boards to see what I'm getting into yet.
  13. Oh boy!!!!! Plugs, oil, and tires in one post!!! That'll be enough to keep those guys up north who store their bikes all winter busy arguing until the first spring ride. Maybe Flyinfool and Saddlebum will argue about this and leave us alone down here this winter. Now it's 60 degrees here and I'm off work today, think I'll ride some and feel sorry for those parked northern bikes. :witch_brew:
  14. The original links had the holes at 6-7/8 inches on center. Leveling links at 6-5/8 inches. You may be able to to see the difference if the PO used homemade links without measuring. Look in Freebirds post and you can see the difference in shape. If he bought links made to look like the original you may have to measure them.
  15. Wish I could say I wasn't at the CRS stage myself, I re-read the instructions Freebird had in the link when I looked it up or I wouldn't have remembered it either.
  16. Actually shorter links raise the bike. I made mine following Freebird's instructions in the read only library. They work great. 1/4 inch shorter than factory raised the bike about an inch according to his calculations. I went from a Baron's lowering kit that was on the 07 when I bought it to leveling links. Huge difference in the handling, not to mention I'm sort of long in the legs so it's much more comfortable to me. Here is the link to Freebird's links. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?492-Leveling-Links-Raising-the-Rear-of-the-RSV
  17. German engineering at its best??????
  18. I'll be in Lexington this weekend and really like pie. You deliver that far?
  19. It's all I use in my 07 RSV. No problems at all.
  20. You have to split the fairing, move the radio out of the way, and pull the cassette deck from the front of the bike. There are instructions in the read only tech library. It takes a little wiggling and prying to get the door past the inner fairing. Just be easy with it, it's not too bad. I wish I'd done all this at once instead of one piece at a time. I've installed the Edsets splitter(Buddy Rich cable), a 12 volt Bluetooth receiver, Amplirider, and now this charger. Now I can answer phone calls, stream music, and use the gps through the bike's sound system while the phone charges in the cradle. It makes it easier for me to get away knowing my kids can reach me if needed and being able to answer customer calls.
  21. Flyinfool I tell my kids all the time just because you can doesn't mean you should.
  22. I hope y'all keep that stuff up north where it belongs. We got our first frost this morning but it'll warm up in the 60s today. I'm gonna put a few miles in this afternoon. Frosty cold mornings for deer hunting and warm sunny afternoons for riding, it don't get no better than that.
  23. After gutting the deck I installed the charge port and re-installed it, the door still works. The mistake I made was in not realizing it has an internal LED that stays on. I had installed an extra fuse box behind the battery and ran a hot wire into the fairing so I could charge the phone without the bike running. Rather than pulling it back out I added a relay that fires from the factory lighter port so it only works with the key on. I routed on charge cable out the back of the box through the fairing and up the bars to plug the phone in while in the cradle. If I had it to do again I'd use a port with an on/off switch or get one without the LED. While I had it torn down I installed a WOLO horn and finally put on the leather tank bib I won at Don's MD. Weather man says 60's here next week so it's almost time to ride again.
  24. I use the canned fuel for my two stroke engines. It doesn't have all the additives in pump gas. I can leave it in the tank months at a time without eating fuel lines or clogging carbs. My saws get used once or twice a year and always fire right up.
