  1. Well Puc I don't plan on any 150 foot jumps, I remember what ramping Tweeksis did for ya last year. From what I understand the labral tear is a bigger problem than the rotator cuff. I didn't ask doc about heal up time or what it'll do to my firefighting yet. I'm not sure I'll ask about riding, I've never seen a dr yet that didn't back up when you mention that word motorcycle. I'll probably play that by ear and jump on when I feel like it. If I don't ask maybe momma won't yell that I'm not listening to the dr. The last shift I worked was Christmas Day, shouldn't have been there then but if I took off one of the young guys with kids would've been forced into missing Christmas at home. I'm ready to get it fixed and back to life.
  2. Anybody here have experience with a labral tear in the shoulder? I go Wednesday to meet with the surgeon to schedule his fixing that, a rotator cuff 50% frayed, and maybe removing some bone spurs. My tear is in the back and somewhat unusual according to the first surgeon I talked to, he referred me to another dr with more experience with that injury. I've been trying to get some accessories on the bike and have it ready as soon as the shoulder will handle it, waiting for the hitch and passenger peg mounts to come back from powder coater. SOOOOOOo the big question is how long will she be setting in the shop? I don't personally know anyone with the labral repair. I do know this getting older stuff ain't for wimps.
  3. I appreciate seeing others experience, that's the real reason I put it out there. This is my first try with a CT, coming off of a Shinko 777 and then a Michelin. I got 14k out of those two rears added together and while longer mileage would be great I've read a lot about stability and braking with a CT. I like to learn from other's experience before I learn from my mistakes. I'll be interested to hear about your 155 ride thoughts.
  4. It doesn't look like I'll get to check it on the interstate for a while. Weather man says it's gonna be cool and wet for the next couple of weeks. I recently repacked swingarm bearings and while I didn't get to the steering head bearings they feel ok for now. I'm running OEM sized front Shinko and have leveling links installed. I did get up to 70-75 for a very short distance, not long enough to really get a feel for it. I have a shoulder surgery coming up soon so it may not get back out of the shop for a while. I'm hoping to stay with the 165/80/15 so not to lose height with the 155.

    ouch

Hate to hear that. Watch that shoulder, I thought I had a minor shoulder injury last year, going in for surgery in the next few weeks. Don't let it get away from you.
  6. Sorry to hear it. Hope everyone heals well and Tinker is good.
  7. I got the Nexen tire mounted and installed today, up around 100 psi to pop it on. Set the pressure at 40 and went for a short run, winds are gusting pretty bad so I didn't go far. The quick impression I got was WOW. It does feel a little different swapping sides in some short twisties, not bad just different that I'm sure I'll get used to. The ride is very smooth and the emergency stop I tried sold me. It has never stopped that short and didn't lock up even when I tried. I found a stretch with thick woods on both sides to block the wind and let go of the bars, straight as an arrow. I hope to get enough decent weather to break it in good soon and play with pressures to find what I like.

  9. A wet saw will cut down on dust or holding a shop vac hose next to the blade.
  10. That CO stuff will make ya wake up dead.
  11. Maybe Carbon One needs to get ahold of an SVTC.
  12. Hate to bust your bubble but those Ford police cars made me a bunch of $$$$ back in my wrenching days. An idea on your truck issue is to hang some fuzzy dice and carpet the dash with the high front. :stirthepot:
  13. Funny you mention that, guy at work was recently telling me his F150 locked up after shutting it off. I popped the belt off and it fired right up. AC compressor locked up and the belt wouldn't let the starter turn it. Ran into the same thing with the local Sheriff dept on a cruiser years ago but it was the alternator locked. They brought it to me for a new engine, very surprised to get it back the same day and the much lower bill.
  14. Amen. I have been off work for month with a torn shoulder and have passed a lot of time reading old posts. I miss Yammers 1st gen vs 2nd gen pokes. By the way it's gotta be faded blue to be fast according to Dan.
  15. Congrats on the new job. On a side note I was digging in the storage room yesterday and found that backrest. The business got swamped with orders last year to the point of forgetting many things including that. Send me an address if you still want it and I'll get a shipping quote. I also have the original passenger armrests if you need them.
  16. If there's anybody in my part of the country wanting a set I have some with P clamps I took off my RSV. PO still had the originals I put back on. I like quiet. I'd give em to a member.
  17. Now she has an alternate place to put her feet and the hitch to bring the trailer with extra shoes. On the way to powder coat.
  18. My wife calls smoking an HD a sickness I have. I overheard two riders at a gas station talking about the "sharp color of blue wasted on my POS Yamaha" last week. I waited for them to leave so I could take em on the highway. Didn't take long. I laughed the next 50 miles. Glad I'm not alone.
  19. You didn't say what bike. Assuming 1st gen since 2nds don't have a factory tach. The tach fires off the #2 coil, start testing there. Also check to see if running on 2 or 3 cylinders. Mine dropped 2 with a bad tci. They run amazingly well on 3.
  20. We need to get together sometime. I put in about 225 today through W KY and ILL. Karbers Ridge and Garden of the Gods.
  21. No time to be bored today, I designed and fabbed up some brackets for a new trike company that will debut in Daytona next month. Tomorrow will be 50 degrees warmer than it was a few days ago so I'll be out on the Venture burning up some miles. Mid 60s in February :7_2_104[1]::banana:
  22. I believe kids need exposed to some of the jobs we had as teens. Most of them have no idea what a hard days work is. I grew up as a hod carrier on my dads job sites, 5 boys in my family and we all spent our summers on the job from age 12. I spent the months of August and Sept in the tobacco fields. Spend all day cutting, spiking, and hanging tobacco in 90 degree heat 90% humidity and you'll understand a days work. Most firefighters work a 2nd job on their days off as pay is far from great. Nearly all of us older guys are in some type of construction but these younger guys think they deserve high pay/low work jobs. I had one with a wife and kid at home complaining about money problems so I set him up with a friend to work on a block job. He made it to lunch and told me that he wasn't going to work that hard. I always thought a man did what he had to do to pay the bills. Now all the farmers and many construction companies are using immigrant labor because young America is too entitled.
  23. In light of the current weather I thought this might need bumped.
  24. We may have to drink our summer air but you can keep that winter stuff up there. Supposed to hit single digits here next few days but I put 100 miles on the RSV today. NANNER NANNER.
  25. I burned through thousands of rounds in my earlier years but don't shoot much anymore. At the rate I shoot now I should plenty of ammo for life. This is my version of fun with guns now. I hunt some for food but love to watch the kids on a hunt.
