But does it have cassette in 2105?
-
Yes it will be required to cross state lines.

So you waited for spring to get the ticker fixed? Just couldn't lay off the white washer could ya? Wish you well on the upcoming procedure and hope you pass through with flying colors.

That's the plan. I put in the vacation time in case dr releases me before then. We applied for our passports last week so we can see it from the Eh side. Dr and therapist both looked at me funny when I told them but if I can fight fire by then the bike should be no problem. Neither of us have been in that neck of the woods so we're thinking 8-10 days to get MD and do some touring. Got momma some passenger pegs installed before surgery and plan to build her some arm rests before we leave so she will be happy. Have a friend stationed at D.C. In the navy that may meet us up there for a day or two.

You get me!!! I get the same crap all the time about my trucks. I have a 2000 Z71, 1994 Z71, and a 2000 F250 (don't tell anybody about the Ford I make more fun of them than HD). The Chevys have 160k and 190k on the clocks and I just like them. I've had 3 of the 94s over the years and it's my favorite truck ever built. I've had several newer trucks and 2 brand new ones the last an 07 that I just didn't like as much so I sold them. I guess there is some merit in keeping new bikes to have a warranty for someone who doesn't want to or can't wrench on their own. I grew up broke and wrenching on your cars was the only way to have a car. That being said I do keep them in top mechanical condition and will drive them anywhere without worry. That just fades over to my toys also.

Check your gas cap right now!!!

I checked mine last week, tightened up about a 1/4 turn. Dr is keeping me off of it for a few months so I went through what the northerners call winterizing a bike. Good reminder. -
Im doing my best on that not setting for long idea, the therapist told my wife this afternoon that she's worried about me getting on too soon already. I'll be good long as I can . No worries on the pressure washer, I know the dangers and I'm not a show bike polisher. I like to look at glitzed up bikes and cars but won't own one. I stopped for gas in IL a couple weeks ago and talked to a guy that told me I was crazy riding because it rained the night before and I was getting the bike dirty, his was under cover in the garage. I do hand wash it occasionally but that's it. As far as the valve lash I thought hard before doing it as I haven't heard of many coming apart in the past. I did just to have more confidence on the long trips with mama aboard. She's not hard to keep happy but breakdowns test her. The availability of Skydoc's shim kit and tool didn't hurt either. After reading all the horror stories of how hard it was to do I was dreading it but with the right tools I buzzed right thru it, didn't mind it at all and maybe one of these days I'll get a chance to help on someone else's. I had posted originally because it stumps me how some people are so brand loyal and not trust the brand:puzzled:. She did tell me she liked the 2Vulcans they had before the HD better and doesn't like the burned ankles she gets now.

Had my surgery last Tuesday and started my PT today. My wife knows the therapist and had told her about our summer trip plans to make MD and then go to Niagra Falls for a couple of days. After trying to discourage it because of the surgery and me laughing at her we talked bikes. She and her husband had a new HD delivered this morning, she explained that their old 2014 had 65000 miles on it and that's just too many miles on a motorcycle to go touring on. I know I poke the bear here sometimes with HD jokes in good fun but HD has stepped up their game and have friends with 100k on their HDs. She asked me if I would keep mine with that many miles, I couldn't help myself but say my 07 just got her 1st valve adjustment at 45k (bought it last year with 31k) and guessing it won't be opened up again til about that many more. We are cosidering retirement next year or two and plan to start heavy touring about when it hits 60-70k. She looked at me crazy when I told her I expect 200k minimum miles. I've never owned a HD, not my cup of tea, to each their own but can't imagine paying those prices thinking I'll only get less than 100k.

It's official the governor signed it. June 1st KY will be constitutional carry.

Beautiful bike!!! We also made the 1st gen-2nd gen jump and love it. I still have the 1st gen but with my long legs the 07 is hands down more comfortable. I like the 1st gen for a short fun ride in the twisties but I'm old enough I don't do it much anymore. Hope ya like it as well.

You're stuck now..... just like hotel California. Congrats on the purchase, keep the pictures coming and you'll find all the help you need. Some of it will even be useful. -
One of older brothers worked there for several years in development. I don't know how much he did on trailers but he designed bodies for trikes and built the molds. He designed the RSV trike many here have. The volunteer fire dept in our county asked for our help during the Hannigan fire, I fought part of that. After the fire I helped them install the new paint booths and a few other things.
-
Good looking setup. Hannigan is built here in my hometown. I've spent quite a bit of time around their shop. They make nice stuff.

I believe that is Dfitzbiz.

83 is 1200. It may have the 1300 clutch basket and side cover put on it. -

If you're asking about 2nd gear or frame breakage the answer is no. Yammy fixed both. -

Use the link above and click the second entry, things to look for. Don't let it scare you as most of what is listed are things seen over 1000s of bikes and pretty easy to take care of. 1st gens are great bikes and a blast to ride. Keep it wound up, they like to spin, and ride it like you stole it. If this deal falls thru you can get a later model without the 2nd gear issue. You can find info here of when Yamaha fixed it. You'll find the $12 spent to join the best investment you can make, help is always a keyboard away. -

Wait for Cowpuc to chime in here. 83s without 2nd gear have been his choice of bikes for years. Just sit back and be ready to be entertained. Oh and Welcome to the nuthouse. You'll find anything you need to know about a Venture here. -
I agree and will keep my permit for crossing state lines. Lucky I live in an area that I feel safe and hardly ever carry unless traveling or going somewhere I feel the need to. I did talk to a deputy recently that encouraged me to carry at all times as drug problems are on the rise. I also have mixed emotions on the constitutional carry, I watched a woman at the range when I tested for my permit that needed much more training than was required. She was very dangerous to be around. I am pro 2nd, grew up with guns, and raised my daughters shooting and hunting. I have no qualms carrying or letting them carry, however my wife won't and I wouldn't let her. She has very little experience and no wish to start shooting, she's not against it but no interest. I would be afraid she'd panic and blast away. I guess it's my line of work but I've seen so much that safety is always on my mind. My kids laugh at me always on them about driving, shooting, or even cooking. I've loaded too many ambulances and zipped too many body bags to think normal I guess. We preach MSF courses, I don't mind gun safety courses being a requirement to carry concealed. I apologize if I'm getting political.

Is that an E.T. Phone on the side?
-
It looks like our state is going constitutional carry. We've always been an open carry state but legislation has passed to be conceal carry without a permit.

I'd start by making sure the red cable is on the phillips and black on the flat. Or is that the red handle screwdriver is positive and black negative? Oh! The insanity...........is the smoke still in the wires. ....

2011+ RSV with Ipod & Isimple Gateway
RDawson replied to Du-Rron's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I wasn't clear, it's a Bluetooth receiver plugged in under the fairing to the 3.5. I didn't want to have to deal with downloading so I use Pandora. It'll work with iPod also without any other equipment. I have a ram mount on the bars so I control from there. It's just a way to bypass isimple and software issues. One of many options. I'm a techno-phobe so I stay away from iTunes. -
I made these after the 9 hr trip back from Don's took a toll on my wife. The arms are 1/4" 6061 aluminum with nylon swivel washers for smooth movement. Tension in adjustable. Pegs can be black or titanium color. All stainless hardware. You do have to drill one 1/4" hole in the floorboard mount bracket, takes longer to do that than install them. I have the same type bolt heads as on the side covers to match them. I go in for surgery Tuesday so it'll be a few weeks before I finish the ones I have cut out and can make more. I think I'll do some with and without the horn tab. If there's much interest I'll list them in the classifieds. For members only they'll run $125.
