If you drop farther south through ILL you can see the Shawnee Forest, Garden of the God's, Cave in Rock where Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn floated the raft. You can cross the river at Paducah KY or ride the free ferry from Cave in Rock to Marion KY. West to East is the West Ky Parkway which isn't very busy, Hwy 80 is farther south but goes through the older smaller towns. Towns aren't far apart here and hotels are usually pretty easy to find. While in Lexington look for the Castle, it's near the end of the Bluegrass Parkway where it changes to hwy 60.

please help, what would you do?
RDawson replied to made2care's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
It does change the friction zone somewhat. I have it in both my bikes and wouldn't change back, especially pulling the trailer. The biggest problem I've had was 1-1/2 hrs of stop n go thru Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, I think my left forearm was twice the size of my right from pulling the clutch. -

There's a 1/2 clutch plate in there too. With the upgrade Skydoc sells you do away with the wire and put a full plate in place of the 1/2 and with PCW diaphragm spring the clutch will hook up at all speeds. -
A lot of good points. I sometimes like to get up the morning of departure and look at the weather map, whichever way looks best is the way we go. We look at it each evening and morning and turn accordingly. We've found some cool things that way just watching for signs or locals to talk to. That's how we plan to end up at MD just spending a week meandering north east.

After cleaning it up better and studying it with my glasses on I think a passing truck threw something into it. There are multiple small cracks near the bottom of the bag. I have someone looking at Hannigans to see if they have a pull off here local but if not Mike Eycamp has one in I'll. Finding one here would mean I can have it before MD as we're leaving this Sunday and taking the scenic route.

Yeah, since he traded HER Slingshot for it he'd at least take her for a ride.:witch_brew::whistling:

Reading this brings back what Hannigan went through with the GW reverse trike. Some wanted the both the reverse trike and the conventional trike making it a 4 wheeler, or in other words a car. His argument was the bolt on trike kits also had 4 wheels on the ground. I don't know what happened with that.

Not jackknifed, it happened on the road. I boxed everything up that was in the bag and it weighed more than I thought it would. Still don't think it was too much but maybe, who knows.

The banjo bolt holds the line to the master. Pump it a couple times and crack that bolt loose while holding lever and see if you get air. Make sure to keep fluid off the plastic.

Did you bleed the master at the banjo bolt?

I found a car audio shop nearby and talked to the service guy, he cut me a piece of ABS sheet and since he's a rider too he wouldn't let me pay for it. A trip to a hobby shop for some model glue and Lowes for ABS pipe glue and clamp, and Harbor Freight for a cheap heat gun to form thee ABS and I'm getting it back together. I'm gonna leave tape on the outside for the trip home and hope for the best.

It had few tools but nothing heavy or packed full. All the rubber mounts under and in the bag mounts. I'll go to a hobby shop in the morning and get some Testors glue and Home Depot for some ABS glue to get a fix put in it until I decide what to do. Older brother worked at Hannigan's for years and he's going to see if they might have a blue pull off as he's doing a project with them right now.

Pulled my trailer 265 miles to my daughter's place and found this when I got here. I find it an odd coincidence that it happened the first long ride with the trailer. The hitch is a copy of the hitches sold here and fits great without binding. The saddle bag has all the original rubber mounts and bolts on without any binding. Has anyone else seen this happen, or have an 07 blue/black bag for sale?

That's where all the cool kids are.

We're at the Red Roof.

Looking at Travelocity Best Western, Quality, and Super 8 only have a few rooms unless they hold some back from the travel sites. Liked that Red Roof let us use the pool room later last year.

I haven't made reservations yet, I'd like to be where the others are also. We're open to any of them and saving $$ is good if they're clean.

Cruise Control does not Set

On the VR that works but the RSV is only 4-5th. No idea why they changed that. -
Air Pressure Front and Rear??
RDawson replied to ENG2242's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There's a post somewhere here that used air shock fittings and hose to make an equalizer. It had a tee to add air thru. I also just use the zero loss pump and never had an issue. -

Check clutch and brake switches are closing. Push forward on the levers to make sure they return fully. It only works in 4th and 5th gear. -
1st Generation Clutch Slave
RDawson replied to ChrisL's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The inside of the cylinder is what is honed. I'm assuming we're using different terminology. The aluminum casting has the cylinder bore that the piston moves in, it needs to be clean and smooth. If it is pitted or grooved the seals on the piston can't make a good seal. It's best to sand or "hone" around the bore so there are no grooves for fluid to seep around the seals. I'm fairly confident in re-using the crush washers so I doubt you damaged them, I rarely replace them. -

Before you give up did you get the copper crush washers installed on each side of the line where it bolts into the slave? Your leak could be there. Rebuilds can be hit or miss on these things but I'm running on a rebuild right now. Did you hone the cylinder smooth before assembly? If so it can possibly work. Yes to the gear cover washer, it goes under the bolt head. I re-read your post, is the leaking liquid oil or brake fluid? -
Hey Skid I posted a pic of some pipes on the MD thread. Our plan is to be coming through WV on the 10th on the way to Niagara. If these will work for you and we can meet up you're welcome to them. They were too loud for me and I went back OEM. They have mounts for the RSV. They could use a good cleaning.
-
Cleaning out the shop. Anyone coming to MD need a set of pipes? They do need a good cleaning and have a little surface rust on the bottoms. I have no idea what brand but PO had the originals and I put them back on. I like my bikes quiet. I also have a Baron's lowering kit and a set or two of leveling links. I can throw them in the trailer and bring em.
