  1. You're right, I have changed the rear on this lift but the jack is easier. I'm not backing it on to change the front. Valve job, any engine work, cleaning the bike, etc it's the berries. The knees and back appreciate it. I only did the rear on it because I was waiting for shims to come in and didn't want to move it torn down.
  2. How long since fluid change? Is fluid clear like it should be or brown and nasty? Fresh clean fluid, bleed the system, make sure the small return passage in the master cylinder isn't clogged.
  3. Only problem I see is we aren't there.
  4. I use the HF unit with my RSV, I have long enough legs to ride it on and use a chock in place of the clamp so it stays vertical when I step off. It's not wide enough to put the kickstand down without a block on the floor.
  5. Congrats on the ride. Don't let the 20k on the clock bother you, it's not even broken in yet. My 07 doesn't have the whine bad at all but the Motorkote is interesting as a lot have the issue. Keep an eye on the cheaper pads since you're stopping a heavy bike and ride it like you stole it. Remember she's not a twin and likes to rev. Tennessee has some great roads to cruise.
  6. Nice. Now just find time to enjoy it.
  7. I have the HF unit, like Kretz said he prepared to change out the clamp it's pretty flimsy. I also use the lock bar and don't let the hydraulics hold the weight if it's gonna be up there long. Instead of a clamp I built a chock I ride into to hold it. I caught them on sale last fall and bought one, next day I saw a near new used one cheap so I bought it and returned the new one. It was great when I did my valve adjustment and service.
  8. Get your valve stems to the 6:00 position and spray soap water around them and try to wiggle them around looking for bubbles. Take off the caps and spray into the valves. At 5-6 psi a week the leak may not show up instantly, let it set a while and look for the bubbles. I'm against sealers in my tires and if it's leaking at the bead they may never get in there to seal it anyway. AND if any of our tips so far work I'd find a new tire shop.
  9. Is "ickyness" the technical term?
  10. I'd check the valve core first and then around the stem. Not all dealers change valve stems.
  11. You better grab it. You'll have a one of a kind.
  12. The local HD dealer is advertising a push it- pull it- drag it sale. They trade on anything running or not. Now I understand how they get repeat customers. I stopped in looking for a tail light gasket and wasn't gonna be that way until the Jap bike comments started flying. All good natured ribbing but it did get to one salesman when I told them that. All in all a fun few minutes of visiting but they didn't have my part.
  13. I have the tall 2 piece Bagger shield. The knobs are low enough that they don't bother me. It's a bit tall for me, I'm looking thru it in the rain. I'm considering drilling more holes in it to lower it instead of cutting it down. I only tried it once with the top removed and didn't like the the low windshield but do like the added width.
  14. Give those blue ones a little time in the sun. A man once told me the faded blue ones are fastest.
  15. Just saw that the driver was arrested and charged with 7 counts of negligent homicide.
  16. Best thing in the toolbox: familiarize yourself with the member map and members in the area you're traveling. All the tools and knowledge in the world out there
  17. Too much going on there for me. I'm hardwired to the bike so I don't have to deal with dead batteries in my helmets and I have two rear view mirrors to see what's behind me.
  18. Do they match the Mag light from last year?
  19. I know both ways have pros and cons, as well as the different brands and models. I too choose to go corded simply because I don't want to deal with batteries. I don't want to have to charge constantly or end up on a long ride without the coms.
  20. I'm with Don on this one. Briggs engines need valve adjustments regularly. Have a brother that makes a fortune buying slow starting or non starting mowers, adjusts the valves and resells them running great
  21. There is a higher output stator available, not as easy as an alternator swap.
  22. Thanks Freebird and Cowpuc for the reviews. I must've been typing when you tagged me Don, just now saw it.
  23. Diamond R is the only ones I have seen but the common complaint was they pushed the knees way too high. I looked at a set this weekend at Don's that had the screw removed and they were still very high. I made my first set about the same height and my short legged wife complained they were too tall. I lowered them an inch lower and she loves it. The ones I offer aren't adjustable but can be lowered farther by filing off the aluminum where it hits the stop. I'm thinking of making a steel set with powder coated chrome arms that will be adjustable but won't have them available for a few weeks as I have a couple of prop sets to build first. They will also go much lower than the DR. This pic is before I lowered them. You can see them in Cowpuc's video of maintenance day as they are now. Mine also include an optional Wolo horn mount built in.
