  1. I too wish I could've been there. Thanks for the pics, glad he got to go out in PGR style.
  2. I've never lost a fight with a gator but Don's pond monster scares me.
  3. I just posted trying to get a laugh. Glad it worked out.
  4. It can on a 2nd gen.
  5. Unlock it?? Sorry I just had to do it.
  6. I'd definitely check the filter, some relocate the filter for future ease. I'd highly recommend it with the history of the bike, you may have to change it a couple times if there's a lot of sediment.
  7. Plan as of now is to ride up Thursday (about 12 hrs) and head home Sunday morning. Gotta be back on the fire truck Monday 0700. There is a small chance I'll head out Wednesday and split the ride up in half. I hope you plan to fry that gator up afterwards, they make good eating.
  8. Almost scared to go at all after this :confused07:. Remember it sometimes better to :ignore:.
  9. As far as the running issue I'd wager you'll have to clean the carbs. Before that make sure the fuel tank vent hose isn't stopped up (under the plastic housing around ign switch). Make sure the fuel pump is running and filter is clear. Filter is down at the battery and a bit of a pain to get to. You can try some cleaner such as Berrymans or Seafoam, those can help if the carb isn't stopped completely, I like the Berrymans better but you'll get different opinions on that.
  10. The fan only runs when needed which is not often. There is enough air going through the radiator while running down the road to keep it cool. On the right side follow the hose up from the water pump and you'll see the fan switch plumbed in with the wire plugged to it, you can check it there to see if the switch works. You mentioned topping off the coolant, did you fill the overflow bottle under the seat?
  11. If you have a good hardware store close by check there. I buy the button head stainless bolts here much cheaper than I can order them from a stealer.
  12. And yet another disturbing image arrrrggghhhhh.
  13. PLEASE TOM don't encourage him, I have enough disturbing pictures in my head as it is.
  14. Experts? Don't go swelling heads now. Hope you're good to go now.
  15. Spent some time this afternoon on the old girl. She has a belly full of fresh T4 and a new Shinko up front. Think I'm gonna make it.
  16. The trip is the welcoming gift for the first time attendee, right?
  17. Thanks Don, at this point I'll probably wait til I get back from WNY to deal with it.
  18. So if I follow you put resistors inline instead of modding the flasher itself?
  19. That's the flasher mod I plan to use but it doesn't say if he had changed all bulbs or just one set. My dilemma is my fronts are all that are an issue so I'm not sure if my resistor value will be correct. I guess worst case scenario would be to change rears if it isn't right. Time may be an issue. It's been 30 years since I dealt with resistors and circuit design so I'm a little rusty. Not to mention without Radio Shack parts aren't available here.
  20. I'm sure it's answered here somewhere but can't find it. I replaced the front bulbs with LED boards and the rears with 1156 leds. I understand the flasher mod to slow the flash rate so here is the question: with the rears having the resistance integrated is the .33 ohm resistor still the answer in the flasher or is that correct for front and rear boards? Here is the link I plan to use to mod the flasher. I don't want to screw this up since WNY is this week and won't have time to order another flasher. https://www.venturerider.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=109028&d=1492947796
  21. When I go to the PINT store and get a few none of my work looks right. Gotta watch that Flyinfool or he'll paint it white for ya.
  22. I can't make it to Bob's funeral so I have been trying to figure out a way to get some toys there as he requested. I looked up Operation Toy Soldier and found there are drop off locations around the country, mostly funeral homes near military bases. I thought I'd throw that out there for anyone interested. I seem to remember Bob saying he was in the 101st which is based 1-1/2 hrs from me so I plan to take a ride with the wife over there to donate in his name. Edit: I somehow missed Tiger Lilley's post about collecting toys at the rally, I didn't mean to undercut that effort in any way. Thank you Cheryl.
  23. Not the greatest but I got IMCs off eBay for less than $100 each.
  24. A friend had similar issues recently, he got a tank of bad gas. The store where he bought it doesn't sell much so they run to the bottom of their tank often. We drained it and had to change fuel filters twice to get it back to normal. It would stop up the filter with just enough getting thru to run. Once it sat for a while enough trickled thru to fill the carbs.
  25. Carl in assess chaps and high heels is NOT a picture I want in my head.
