Thanks, as I was confused. Seeing as the title of this thread is Safe trip to MD.... I made the assumption that it was referring to a trip to MD, which is the US Postal code for Maryland, which is about 20 Miles from my home, so I thought some people would be riding nearby and I would have liked to say HI in person. Your response cleared up my confusion. A QUICK search of the Internet found 404 terms that are abbreviated as MD. NOTE: I could find only two terms that have the word maintenance in them, Maintenance Diagnostic and Maintenance Drop. I could only find six terms that have the word day in them, Man-Day, Meadow Day, Mega Day, Memorial Day, Meridian Day and Mother's Day. Here is the complete list: Air Madagascar (IATA airline code) Duration Magnitude (US Geological Survey; used to compute earthquake size based on shake time) Machine Dependent Machine Direction Machinery Damage (insurance) Macular Degeneration Macular Dystrophy Mad Doctor Madhuri Dixit (Indian actress) Magazine Dr Magdeburg (German license plate code) Magic Dragon Magical Drop (SNK game) Magistratsdirektion (German: municipality directorate) Magma Design Magnetic Data Magnetic Detection Magnetic Disk Magnetic Drive Magnum Dynalab Mahler Das Mail David Mail Delivery Mail Department Mail Destination Mail Drop Mailed Main Deck Main Droite (accoridion, right hand side) Maintainability Demonstration Maintenance Diagnostic Maintenance Drop Major Depression Make a Donation Make Directory (MS-DOS command) Makers Database Making a Donation Malfunction Detection Malin Dollinger Mallard Dr Mammalian Development Management Data Management Date Management Department Management Development Management Directive Management Directives Management Division Management Domain Management of Disseminated Managerial Development Managing Director Managing diversity Mandarina Duck Mandatory (band) Mandatory Death (band) Man-Day Mando Diao (band) Manic Depression Manipulative Deception Manning Document Manpower Development Manual Dexterity Manual Direct Manual doc Manufacture Discontinued (AT&T) Manufacturer Defined Manufacturing Development Map and Directions Map and Driving MAP DISTRIBUTION Maps and Directions Marcel Dekker Marek's Disease (chicken virus) Marina Drive Maritime Defense Maritime Division Mark A Davis Mark Danney Mark David Mark Davis Mark Dershwitz Mark Dickson Mark Dougherty Market Development Marketing Department Marketing Director Marlene Dietrich Marriage Data Marriage Divorce Marrow Donors Marshalled Deployability Martian Dust Martin Dawes Martin DDS Martin Donna Martin Drive Maryland (US postal abbreviation) Maryland and Delaware Maryland Daniel Maryland David Maryland December Maryland Delaware Maryland Democracy Maryland Department Maryland Dept Maryland Dispatch Maryland District Maryland DNR Maryland Donald Maryland Douglas Maryland Downtown Maryland Dr Maryland Only Dedicated Mason Dixon Mason-Dixon (Civil War era boundary between Pennsylvania and Maryland) Mass David Mass Destruction Mass Driver (Gundam seed anime) Massachusetts Department Massachusetts Dr Master Developer Master Directory Master Document Master of Disaster Master's Degree Material Defender (Descent game series) Materials Development Materials Directorate Materials Disposition Materials Division (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Materiel Developer Materiel Development Mathematics Department Mathematics Durham Matrix Diagram (Sprint - My local Advance Auto Parts and NAPA both carry seafoam by the pint and by the gallon, HOWEVER it is IMHO expensive. I have shifted over to using products like Coleman Camp Fuel (Naptha) instead. For one gallon it costs about 1/3 the price and it is 2 times more concentrated, so it goes 6 times as far as Seafoam. I wish I could find more bargains like this. It does not have the alcohol to dry your fuel, but 99.9999% of the fuel I buy comes with 10% Ethanol from the pump, so fuel dryer is no longer needed............ Read the article HERE for more info Seafoam does contain some kind of light oil too..... but for the best value in cleaning power, get the least expensive gallon of camp fuel you can buy.

Good job!!!!!!!! I like the fact that it uses one guage, so that takes out all varriation.

Time to grease Clutch Hub Drive Pins
KiteSquid replied to jryan's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When they have the rear end out, make sure they use Honda Moly60 grease on the splines (3 places) and the clutch hub fingers. Drive shaft is on page 7-91 and see that it specifies Molybdenum disulphide grease Clutch hub splines are part number 7 on page 7-13 and the manual shows Lithium soap grease, but have them use Honda Moly60 instead as it works better in this application. -
So if I did the math correclty, you have about $34 in parts in this tool. Saber cycle goldwing parts sells a four channel mercury manaometer on ebay for $52.80 including shipping. So once again if I did the math correclty, you saved about $18.80 on your tool.

You are synchronizing the cylinders by adjusting the carburetor linkages. You are adjusting the linkages to make the carburetors flow the same amount of air on each cylinder, so hopefully each cylinder will be making equal power no matter what the throttle setting is. Being as each cylinder has it's own carburetor, we need to synchronize them to make the engine as a unit operate at it's highest efficiency. If cylinder #1 is operating at 5 HP more than the remainder of the cylinders, you will get pulsations lower overall power output for fuel input and therefore lower HP and fuel economy. We are using definition #2 from http://www.therfreedictionary.com

I thought that you said it was originally bought in the US, with a US warranty. Then you bought the bike used and exported it to Canada. I would think that the US Warranty would still be in effect in the US....no matter where the bike is registered.
-
NICE!!!!!! did you put restricters in the lines?????

When I think of cheap tools, Harbor-Freight is the first retailer that comes to my mind. They also sell some inexpensive tools too. Click HERE to see a multimeter with an inductive tachometer for $35. I think our bikes fire the plug twice in a cycle, so you might have to divide the reading by 2. There are others on the market. IIRC there is a thread about inexpensive tachometers here at THE forum.

The issue is Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd. and Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA are two different companies... Which are separate from Yamaha Motor Company Ltd who actually manufactures the bikes in Japan. All legally separated to IMHO compartmentalize losses and taxes.

Being that I'm "an exectutive" I'll take a ZR1 Corvette http://cache.jalopnik.com/cars/assets/resources/2007/12/2009%20Corvette%20ZR1%20Official.jpg Supercharged V8 with a 6 Manual Transmission Horsepower 638 @ 6500 RPM Torque 604 @ 3800 RPM WOOOO HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IIRC the instructions are in the procedures that the dealership uses for final assembly. I don't have the URL right now, but they are posted somewhere here at the forum. Probably in the VRTech section.
-
So as to NOT confuse the dealer, can you "borrow" a plate for a day???
-
So now that you have had a scarrry experacne, what are you going to do so it, or something simmular NEVER happens again? Please try to list EVERYTHING you did wrong, and how to correct it in the future. Thank you for sharing your story above.

Need help with kick stand
KiteSquid replied to ediddy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Is your stand UP??????? -
While the bike is under warranty, go by the manufacturer's recommendations, or you might have problems if you have a warrantable issue. After warranty, use an OUTSTANDING filter like the Purolator PureOne or Amsoil EaO and let your consuce be your guide. Myself, I will probably change my oil and filter every 4,000 miles to make the engine/clutch/transmission last longer. REMBER our bikes have a wet clutch, so the "friction material" that gets worn off, ends up in the engine oil................just a thought.

I think the rubber piece is stuck on with some weak adhesive.....

What grease did you use??? I hope it was Honda Moly60

The only issue I have with the Scotts Performance Products Oil Filter is they state: While the Purolater PureOne is rated at and the EaO series of oil filters from Amsoil state: IF you want CLEAN oil I would recommend the PureOne or EaO filters..... On a side note, I worked on a RADAR that we filtered the cooling water down to 0.45 microns.... about what an Amsoil by-pass filter does, but there is not much room on a bike to mount one......

Vacuum Adapters for some bikes. Correct That is what I do. but hang it high, so it is out of reach of children that my visit your garage.

UMMMM, what is a "stealer" except for the obvious reference to the man who owns a "stealership" which is a play on words for a thief and dealership.

Done in the post above. Thanks for sharing what you leared using the Friction Zone and remebering to Look where you want to go are VERY good things to learn!!!!!!!
