  1. Thanks for the reply. No it was a 1981 4 part mini series. Cheers.
  2. Thats the one BUT. I went to download it and it wanted to charge me a few dollars for a two day contract (no problem) and then another $96 dollars for the year. All on the same payment so I chose not to download it. So I am a bit disapointed as I do not know whether they will really cancell the years payment or charge me for it and never let me have it back. Old Miner.
  3. Thanks and yes I have been in contact with them, the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre. I have even got a contact within the BBC all were unable to help me. It is still shown or is active within Masterpiece theatre over in the US. Old Miner. Mini series of four episodes a joint venture between the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre: Sons and Lovers (D.H. 4. Thanks. I Have looked at all the Amazon type sites for years but to no avail. Mini series of four episodes a joint venture between the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre: Sons and Lovers (D.H. Lawrence). 1981 15 May 1983 (USA) First Shown Trevor Griffiths adaptation. Starring: Eileen Atkins Tom Bell
  5. D. H. Lawrence's book. Not a bike related problem but I guess you are my only hope as I have tried every other avenue I can think of. I know how you get things sorted for our Ventures, so... Here goes: During the late 1970's and early 1980's the village I live in was used to film a four part mini series based on the book 'Sons and Lovers' by D.H. Lawrence. It was only ever shown in the UK once and that was shortly after completion, the rights etc were then passed over to Masterpiece Theatre over in the States and has been shown several times over there by them. Our village and people (including dogs) were used for the series and there are several local stories about the film, it is part of the fokelore of the area. But there is not a copy available in the UK. Just wondered if you good people out there knew where I could get hold of a copy of the series if indeed it exists.. Many thanks. Old Miner. Hope I have not put it in the wrong place. There are other versions, there is a film starring Vanessa Redgrave, and a more recent one starring Sarah Lancashire. There are other versions, most are readily available. Mini series of four episodes a joint venture between the BBC and Masterpiece Theatre: Sons and Lovers (D.H. 6. Hi there. Having noticed threads on the forum for both First and Second Gen. With regards to uneven front tyre wear. Something which I found on one front tyre myself recently. I was surfing the interweb and came across the following article about the subject. http://www.rattlebars.com/tirewear/index.html It is a bit heavy going but I think there is information of use in there.......... All the best. Neil. (Old Miner)
  7. Many thanks. That is how I imagined it would fit. Neil.
  8. Thanks for that. I have a spare wheel that I swap in and out every other tyre change and I clean and lubricate the whole assembly before fitting, thats why the confusion arose. Neil. (Old Miner).
  9. Hi again everyone. Need some help. Im replacing my rear tyre on my 2nd Gen. 1999 RSV. Made a note of everything except the way that the hub dust seal #8 on enclosed diag fits. Is it the flat side to wheel and indented or slotted face to outside edge. or. Flat side to out side edge and indented or slotted face to the wheel?????? (Cant think of a better word to discribe the two seal faces). The flat side has a rim around the middle but is for all intense and purposes flat. Thanks. Neil. (Old Miner).
  10. For my two penneth, should we not also include Zero in the count as there must be people out there with an original unreplaced shock. So it is not showing the true result. Just a thought. As per FuzzyRSTD. Old Miner.
  11. Hi everyone. Thought I would share this one with you for what it's worth. I had a lot of plastic caps left over after I fitted my new Kitchen and thought of a use for them. They fit over the heads of the Phillips screw heads to tidy the units up after construction. I have used them to tidy up some of the heads of Allen studs on the bike. 1). First find ones that fit into the holes of the Allen studs you want to cover even if they don't fit snug a little waterproof sealer putty or paper tack (Blue-Tack) the stuff that does not set can be added on fitting. 2). Push them into some of the putty type stuff previously mentioned. This is to stop them blowing away when you spray them. 3). Spray on some metallic paint or whatever colour you like, this stuff I used is supposed to be chrome. (No way is it chrome but it is a good alloy colour). Allow to dry and fit to bike. The horrid black bits on the engine are corn flies, they get everywhere this time of year. Best Wishes. Neil. Old Miner.
  12. Aren't side electrode and multi-electrode plugs commercially available for more modern vehicles? Or did I dream it? Neil. Old Miner.
  13. Hi there. I had the exact same problem with a set of air horns. Only the front horn worked and the relay for the compressor would not even pick in. Each of the two fitted horns worked solo from a battery as did the air horn compressor. After many hours of trial and error I found it was the horn button connections on the handlebar switch. I stripped the switch down and found the contacts very slightly blackened. I cleaned the two contacts with a contact cleaner to remove the black deposit on them. I think these contacts may be silver or silver coated. It is only a little bit of a deposit so clean gently. I now I have twin electric and twin air horns all working together in earshattering harmony. Be warned though it is a very fiddley job and it doesnt hurt to lubricate and clean the indicator mechanism etc as it seems that the design of the switch harbours water after you wash the bike. Neil. 14. I regularly ride 160 miles round trip to the coast to my caravan. The speed limits vary from 30-70 mph and the roads are twisting and winding and several long straights but with few hills. Traffic often is delayed by roadworks etc. I used to get high 40's miles per gallon (Imperial gallons) until I found out that the dealer (Yamaha Main Dealer) had fitted the wrong grade of plugs so I now service the bike myself. I fitted the correct plugs and regularly get low 50's per gallon solo. Old Miner.
  15. I had a similar problem after washing the bike down but the fault turned out to be flooded connections under the rear seat to/from the CB unit. Cleaned them, dried them with a hairdryer and have had no further problems. I also go easy with the water near the back of the bike now. Not like when I had my Gold Wing 1100 with aftermarket fairing and radio cassette, with a hose-pipe shot a jet of water into the flap where the tape went. Did that a lot of good. Neil.
  16. Hi Rockdoc, try this link. http://www.yamahaventureclub.co.uk/forum/default.asp?SID=da3zbadd736828a5de75bzb9z6745a7f Dont you think the colour scheme of the new wing is a bit, well BMW ish? Neil.
  17. Yes I totally agree with you. I'll keep mine too and ride it as long as I can. Old age and poverty permitting.. Neil.
  18. I said we would need some lateral thinking, but I read recently that Yamaha had also patented a turbo diesel engine as well. Who knows what the future might hold? Neil.
  19. I came across this on a UK website and with a bit of lateral thinking could this be the missing link to a 3rd Generation RSV??????? http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-new-bikes/return-of-the-trx/17434.html Old Miner.
  20. Mmmmmmmmm????? Thanks for that, on closer investigation the manual shows only one of the fork legs with a bottom drain plug/ stud. I think I will leave well alone until the seals go or I cannot think of anything else to do on the bike.. However it must be the only bike I have ever had that will not allow this. Many thanks and best wishes. Neil. (Old Miner).
  21. So from this I take it that it has never been done?????? Neil.
  22. Is it possible to change the front fork oil on a 1999 Second Gen. RSV with the forks still on the bike? It has done 30K miles and everything is OK with it but it may be the original oil and may need replacing. I have had the bike four years and it has not been changed. Your thoughts please. I have looked at as many threads as I can and at the Yamaha manual and the Clymer and they all show the forks removed.(I don't want to go down that avenue just yet). Thanks. Neil. (Old Miner).
  23. Is that the one your on about? Mine were just blank aluminium stickers that had crazed lacquer and looked a mess. It was raining that day. Any Help? Neil.
  24. I had a large Union Jack sticker floating about in my garage and so I used the old aluminium looking originals as templates and made two red, white and blue stickers, one for each side. Next time I go into the garage I'll take a photograph. Basically its just an old sticker cut up in place of the originals. Neil. (Old Miner).
  25. Thought I would share this with you, it is the original 1998 Venture Press Pack presumably released to accompany the launch of the bike for 1999. Dont know if anyone has put this on the site but here goes. RSV2 is the booklet. RSV2a is the remaining photographs and graphic card that held a disk with the photographs on. The final one is the Press Pack Cover. I dont think Yamaha will mind. Neil (oldminer).
