  2. Good luck Yammer I hope your stronger than your desires.
  3. I like this. I feel a little sorry for the people that live the biker lifestyle but never have the biker experience.
  4. Earthquake yesterday, Hurricane Irene today, Japanese earthquake and nuclear power plant disaster a few of months ago; Doesn't it kinda sound like the prophesies of the end of days, Biblical, Nostradamus and others. December 21, 2012 ...............15 months 28 days My 58th Birthday December 22, 1955........15 months 29 days Not Fair
  5. Man your crazy but I love ya man. Great to see you and BlackJack at Vogel. I'm glad you made it. Sorry about the loss of your lighter. I know you miss it.
  6. No thank you Lewis, for all the you do and have done to make The Vogel's events to remember and all that you have raised for the kids at St Judes. Eck said it all at the Raffle. What more can we say:thumbsup2: You Da man
  7. Ok, Got the Trailer loaded, cooler loaded, bike gassed up. I made a list and checked it twice and am pretty sure we got everything we are gonna need. The only thing is the HUNTING equipment would not fit in the trailer with all of the camping equipment. So, I guess we'll have to leave it behind. All you innocent bystanders are safe. If Yogi shows back up and I can't handle it with the traveling pistola. I guess we will have to wrestle.
  8. I guess it is possible but I have spent a lot of time focusing on the carbs and am within about 2000 miles of a total work through on the carbs after a Valve shim job. I'm pretty confident on the valve shim adjustment, Carb work through and carb synch. I'm betting TCI I've seen how tempermental they are to many times before.
  9. Name is Bob, But I agree I have an order placed with Dingy for the new TCI Mod.
  10. I agree, I did do that and the problem got a little better but did not completely correct itself meaning that I have more consistant low end accleratrion and the high end accleration starts at a lower rpm (about 4000) But still sputters before it kicks in at 5000rpm. I just want it to run 100% all the time so I'm looking forward to the new programable TCI Dingy is putting together.
  11. Dang, That's where i laid mine down leaving Vogel III due to wet road and sudden break lights ahead of me.
  12. Looks like it's gonna be early Thursday for me and my son Clint. Planning on leaving before daylight to enjoy a sunrise ride to Vogel. See ya there:7_6_3[1]:
  13. This morning on the way out the door for work, I woke me son up who will be going to Vogel with me and told him very clearly " Please dig the CAMPING equipment out the basement to get it ready for this weekend". When I got home he had dug out all of the HUNTING equipment and arranged it neatly in the carport. He had the rifles in the gun case, ammo, all the hunting gear ready to go. I know that I said CAMPING but in his half awake state he heard HUNTING. As I was going to tell him about his mistake, I remembered Vogel III and my encounter with Yogi and BOOBOO and their attack on my poor defenseless cooler. I all could say was, "Good job son now get out the Camping equipment too. We will probably need it too." So we have everything ready to go for Vogel IV and we are coming loaded for BEAR.
  14. I took a road trip to Augusta, Ga. and back this weekend (2 1/2 hrs one way). the bike has been running fine. While there I got rained on for a few minutes. But, on the way back it developed a little accleration ( I hesitate to call it a problem) more like an accleration surprise. While acclerating at cruising speed all of a sudden it would sputter a little bit then launch with a sudden burst of power that would lift the front wheel off the ground and launch the bike forward like it had NOS and someone flipped the switch. .......OMG was my first reaction. Thinking it might be carbureation on the next fill up I bought a can of seafoam and poured 1/2 a can in the tank to see I could clear out whatever partial blockage was in the carbs. Evidently there is some unrealized power potential in this bike I haven't witnessed before and I would like to figure out why and harness it full time. Today, riding to work and back I tried to duplicate the experience everytime I had some accleration room ahead of me so that I could watch what was going on closely. Everytime I was acclerating in any gear and the RPMs reached 4500 to 5000 it would launch up 1000 to 1500 rpm with an incrediable boost of power and seemed to keep going untill I backed off of the throttle. Does anyone know what might be causing this?
  15. Prayers sent from Atlanta, Should be reaching Ponce in Houston right about now.
  16. And My jar of Dukes mayonaise, package of Sugar cured Ham and bottle of Pre-mixed Gin & Tonic.
  17. I'm now thinking I'll just ride up there after work on wednesday. i don't think I want to miss a minute of it.
  18. Ah aint that sweet. The same thing happened with me and my second wife. But, in my case i had a hard time getting her to leave after 13 years. And she is still lurking out there somewhere waiting on her chance to pounce. I'm glad it's different for you. Congrats
  19. WOOOO HOOOOO you mean to tell me Aussie Annie will be at Vogel and I'm gonna get to meet her too. This Vogel thing just keeps getting better and better:banana::banana::banana:
  20. I coming up on thursday I don't mind sharing my site with whoever is coming. But', I have to warn you I have had a history of being Bear bait at vogel.
  21. Sometimes your the bug sometimes you are the windsheild
  22. You can increase idle RPM by using thumb screw knob on center bottom of left side of carb bank, Adjust so bike should be idleing between 1000 and 1100 RPM. I suggest moving your questions to 1st Gen tech talk where you will get the best detailed anaylsis of other possible problems and solutions. There are a lot of other possible causes of bad performance and checks and solutions. Most easy some not so much so depending on your knowledge and skill level. Good news is your at the right place because the experts are on this forum and eager to help a fellow member.
  23. It looks like it is all there. I've had success with a 83 that looked alot worse.
  24. Before I had done the valve shim thing on mine reading the articles made it seem scary. But when I did do it with RandyR's help it was not as bad as it seemed. Synching the carbs without the Valve shims correct does no good because the valves shims need to be within tolerances before the sych is accurate. With the Valve shims and carb sync correct the performance on my bike increased about 30%. It looks like most if not all of the other possible contributing causes have been covered. RandyR is a good source of information and help on the Valve shim adjustment proceedure.
  25. STOP... In the name of love before you break your heart. 1. The bolt your trying to loosen to drain fluid is the bolt that holds the outer slider to the inner pistons. They only need to removed if you are taking the tubes apart to replace the fork seals. If your fork seals are not leaking I would leave them alone. you do not need to to disassemble the tubes to replace the springs. 2. The small phillips head screw on the back side of the slider is used to drain fluid. 3. Once fluid drained. You will need a 30 mm socket to remove handle bars. Just lay them aside with everything attached. Loosen cinch bolts on top end of tubes and remove fork tube caps with 17mm allen wrench socket. 4. Once you have opened the tube caps you will see the spacers sitting on top of the old springs remove the spacers and old springs. Note the overall length of old springs and spacers together. The progressive springs will be a different length than the old springs therefore you will need to make new spacers out of 1" PVC pipe so that the overall length of new springs and spacers equals the overall length of old springs and spacers. 5. Replace drain screws and fill each tube with equal amounts of Fork oil. I believe the amount is to 5 1/2 inches from top of tube with froks completely compressed but verify this with other articles posted on the forum on this subject. Extend sliders and Drop old springs and spacers in tubes. It doesnt matter which end of springs are up or down. 6. Replace tube caps. To do so you will have to compress the springs to get the tube cap threads started. Note that the threads on the tube caps are very fine and soft aluminum. Getting the threads started while compressing the springs and not cross threading the tube caps can be challenging. You must be very careful not to damage the threads on the caps and inside of tube while doing so or your screwed. I've found the best way of doing this is with use of a 1/2" drive hand crank speed bar with the 17mm allen wrench socket attached. By sitting on the bike and using this tool you can applie steady downward pressure with your left hand on the top of the speed bar while directing the cap to start threads straight by slowly turning cap in place with the right hand cranking action. 7. Once the caps are back in place tighten cinch bolts and put the handle bars back on an button up. The reason you keep turning the bottom bolt and it is not coming loose is because as you are turning the bolt the inner piston that it is threaded into is free turning inside the tube. You need to use an impact wrench to break the bolt loose from the inner piston. Hope this helps. Good Luck
