  1. Just a test...
  2. Got a wierd little thing going on with my front headlight. Sometimes it's nice and bright, other times it's dim. My first thought is possibly a bad ground somewhere. It seems to be just confined to the headlight, because I haven't noticed the dash lights dimming. Has anyone else had a situation like this? I'm going to test the regulator and stator first, just to make sure they are ok. The bulb is new, just replaced it, but the old one was doing the same thing.
  3. OK I have had a new front tire mounted for 6 months on a spare rim. I aired up both front and rear tires on the 84. I aired up the new tire on the spare rim and changed it out Saturday. I little test ride Sunday seemed OK so now it was time for a test run through the gears to see if everything was OK and that clutch slippage issue was gone. The bike pulled strong through the gears but developed a front end wobble at about 110mph. I brought it back in and noticed the front rotor was hot on the linked brake caliber side. The pads are new and I think some dirt and grime got between the back of the pads and the caliber piston. I was only out for about 50 miles total and this evening I decided to check air pressure again before another ride and the new front tire was down to 10 lb. It dropped about 30 lb from the time I aired it up last thursday. That might explain a little wobble at 110. Now where is that leak I hope it's only a valve core.
  4. Okay, here's a game that is "putting" my patience to test! Good luck! Bobbie http://www.matchpractice.com/game/
  5. we got our 1st new toy in today , and i got to brag a little bit , its pretty kewl , alumn. frame and fiber glass , goin to load the bikes up this week end and take it for a test drive , when we brought it down form OH. the driver had no dif. in gas mileage going up with no trailer and pulling it back .
  6. Last weekend here in Columbus, OH, one of the local bike dealers had 2 of these Can-Am Spyders available for you to test ride. I case your not sure what these things are, they are 3-wheeled "bikes" with two in the front and one in the rear. Powered by a 990 cc Rotax engine, 6-speed, power steering. We were allowed to ride them for around 20 minutes and got up to around 80 mph. They cost around 15K and let me tell you, after riding that thing, I couldn't wipe the smile of my face and if I had 15K at that moment I would have bought one. It took me back to being young and one of those first times riding a motorcycle. I think I'll wait for some other companies to start building them and get the price down, but I will buy one. If your dealer has Can-Am around to test drive these things, DO IT! spyder.brp.com
  7. Went with guy from work to the Rock's Harley test ride yesturday. Don't know why people say once you ride a Harley you won't ride anything else. Was not impressed enough to buy one unless I had amnesia and won the lottery. Was gad to get back on my own bike without all the VIBRATION and hand numbing ride.
  8. Before I left for the Natchez ride I had a 6 month Dr. Appointment. At that time when they did blood work my Glucose came back higher than normal and that is the 2nd time it has done that. I told the Dr I had a Granola bar right before I got there, but she thought it was still high even taking that into account. Therefore this morning I'm going Coffeeless:crying: and have to go in for a 2hour test. I've been praying all night that what is God's will to help me accept it and deal with it. So keep me in your thoughts & prayers Thanks
  9. I'm talking to you folks who have to put your scoot up for the winter. I am just getting over a really bad bout of gout and just today rode my RSV for the first time in 3 weeks, gosh it felt so good to be back on her. I was going NUTZ without riding and that was just 3 weeks. I can't imagine what an entire winter would be like. Actually I lied, I did get a test ride in on Saturday albeit a short one to test my ankle. I live on the East coast of NC and our winters are moderate enough. There have been some cold days and I have ridden 50 to work in 17 degree temps, but for the most part the days haven't been too terrible this past winter. You folks must be going stir crazy. My heart goes out to you.

  11. Just a quick question, first some info... I know how everyone likes it. I changed some gaskets on my 89 VR including the breather assembly which meant draining some coolant! Finished the job,no leaks oil or coolant, Put everything back together added coolant per owners manual topped off overflow tank to full, took for a test ride and every things ok, except now my temp gauge isn't moving and I cant remember what temp it ran before repairs! I know its pumping coolant you can see it when radiator cap is off. I drove it a couple of miles during the test ride, that should have been far enough to get my gauge to move. Could my thermostat be stuck open? I'm totally confused, I've been wrenching on that thing most of the winter and I'm ready to ride, just don't want to hurt her now!! Where should my needle read at normal riding temp. Thanks everyone, and safe riding to all.

    No Demos To Ride (Arghhh)

Is this something new in the industry ? I went to 2 different Yamaha dealerships to hopefully test drive an RSV, and they had absolutely none in the showroom, however, there were 2 being held at their warehouse. Last new bike I bought (1999) the dealer handed me a set of keys and said "have fun". I actually bought the bike after the test drive. I don't think I'd buy a bike unless I could test drive it first, maybe I'm a minority in that aspect. Maybe I never will get my RSV. Oh well, that's my rant for the day. Ya'll have a nice day and ride safe. -Dean-

    Do the test

This is kinda interesting... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4]YouTube - Test Your Awareness: Do The Test[/ame]
  14. About a month ago I go out to get on the bike and my speedometer does not work. No gas gauge or anything. No problem, pull the fuse and tested it. No, the fuse is good, but just for the heck of it I replaced it anyway. Speedometer works! No problem. Noticed a week or so ago that the cruise control does not work. Not a real issue, because I rarely use it. When I leave the office this afternoon, my passing lamps don't work. So I pull the fuses from the fuse box and test all of them. They all test ok, but I replace them anyway and the passing lamps now work. I don't know if the cruise works yet, but I would bet that it does. Any Ideas? I use a multimeter to test and I know it works. On a related issue. The plastic screw that holds the bottom of the lower farings together seems to be striped or something. I could not get it loose. Any problems with drilling this thing out?
  15. Since I cant afford the Flanders mod at this time I just installed the Barons risers instead. Just got back from a test ride and man, what a difference. Im getting ready to put some mileage on them now to really see how they are. Im not too crazy about them touching the ignition cover but its really not too much of an issue since I run the black one. It also would have been nice if they were chromed, but what the hey..... Big test will be next weekend...600 mile trip to West Palm Beach.
  16. Ok, I talked to Bill Morphy who builds the Mic-mutes. He says I have microphonics!!!! This is not life threatning , nor will I need antibiotics. But I'm P.O.'d nonetheless. This is a follow up thread to the mic-mute one I did a couple days ago. I did a test in the garage. Turn the key to accessory, leave motor off, turned on the stereo, turned down the sound of the music audio to zero. Turned the IC up to 20 with helmet plugged in and then toggled the PTT. The mic would mute but there was still a ton of white noise (background noise, static, whatever you want to call it) Would those of you with mic-mutes try this test and tell me if you have this same noise. I'm about ready to get ahold of Yamaha mothership if my case is unique and ask about warranty replacement. Your help with this test would be greatly appreciated. Look forward to your input. P.S. if your interested......look up "microphonics" under google or more bike specific to a "goldwing microphonics" search. Thanks for your input. Jim

    awareness

    I do not know how to get it over to this site but on Break.com there is a great video called Awareness test. It would make a wonderful motorcycle awareness video for the public;
  18. There is a Test Ride Event on Sunday March 16th, starts at 10:00AM. Address is 6051 North Washington Blvd (301) in Sarasota, its just a bit South of University. They have pretty much all of their line there. Just sign a waiver, bring a helemt and show your motorcycle endorsement. You then pick the model you want to ride and go. They take you on a 7 mile loop, never got up to highway cruising speed though. I went on 4 rides in a row today, as long as a bike is available they will let you ride.

  22. I recently got the best Christmas present of my life. My daughter, who I knew was special, got invited by Duke to take her ACT at the age of 12. This didn't suprise me since they have been scouting her for a couple of years. I took her for the test last month and waited patiently for the results. I was expecting a 14-18 for a score and was just thrilled that she had taken the test. She got her results last week and scored a 28!! Her guidance counselor was amazed and said in all of his years (he was my teacher in 7th grade also) he had never seen any 12 yr old score higher than a 22! Anyone know the implications of this? Maybe in a few years I can get a new Venture and name it "College Fund"? Sorry for the bragging, just a "proud pop". Curt

    test

this is a test...hmmm guess I cannot remove this once posted huh.?
  24. When I was taking my motorcycle training(to get cheaper insurance, back riding after 15 years of not) One task we had to do was accelerate to 60 km's/hr(about 40 mph) watch an instructor in front of you point left or right and you had to brake and avoid by turning the way he pointed... Sounds easy enough, except they also teach us to turn off our fuel petcock every time you leave the bike.. So I come back from a break, its my turn to do the test and halfway up to speed my bike bogs down......had to reach down quick and turn on the fuel while still trying to acheive that minimum speed for the test...I did it, but did not get up to a fast enough speed, I failed that test, was humiliated by "rookie riders", but I did pass the course...
  25. I found this stress test at one of my favorite research sites; www.ldolphin.org http://www.sbac.edu/~research/stresstest.html
