  1. Putting LED lights in rear crash bar reflectors tomorrow on friends 08 Venture. What wire is the best to tie into once lead is run up under seat or to tail light ? Seen a post in here, that they blinked with turn signals and brake light. Don't want that. Just so they light up.
  2. I have to give praise when deserved. Norm from Montana turned me on to these people. http://www.bikerhiway.com/ I just purchased and installed the LED Tail Light for Yamaha Road Star and V-Star from them. I placed the order Sunday evening via their website. Early Monday morning I had an email from them saying it had already shipped. When I got home today (Wednesday) the package was sitting on my desk. It took them 2.5 days to ship me the LED tail lights. Very cool!!! Oh and these LED tail light bulb replacement board is super bright!!! Read my review here.

  5. Saturday is suppose to be nice. So I thought I would take the day and ride. Thinking about riding up to Zanesville, Ohio. Then coming back down SR 555 (Ohio's verison of the Tail of the Dragon) to US 50. Can anyone recomend any good places to stop and see or places to eat? Thanks!
  6. Where could I get one of those? I have a new LED spinner tail light but it is red and doesn't show very well with the red lens. I was thinking of replacing it with a clear one. Thanks
  7. So.. I have heard a lot of talk about the Dragon's Tail as a road that is fun for the twisties but I've never been on it. I was on two roads last week that certainly had some twisties and I am curious if anyone has ridden them as well as the Dragon's Tail and so could give some comparisons. I went to the Black Hills and first rode the Needle's Hwy down to Custer St Prk then road the Iron Mt Rd back up to Mt Rushmore. Iron Mt. Road had 15, 10 and 5 mph marked corners. It had an immediate 270 degree turn after exiting from a tunnel. It had the narrow winding slightly elevated blacktop split with each opposing lane having its own road then return together after a quarter mile. How does the Dragons Tail compare? Iowa Guy
  8. I had a great brain fart the other day! Some others may have already thought of and done this; Maybe even posted something about it that I read and forgot about. So it may not be a new idea. I have been having trouble with the tail light fuse on my 86 blowing. I put a new fuse in and unplugged the headlight fuse (so as not to drain the battery) and left the tail light on for ten minutes, then ten minutes with turn signals on. The brake and turn signals ore on a different circuit. During this time I removed the seat and wiggled/inspected wires, pulled the bulbs out and replaced them, wiggled everything. Fuse wouldn't blow! I finally found that the last time I did an oil change, I didn't secure the wires on the lights I put on the lower chin fairing and as I rode, the wind or bumps pushed the positive wire (which is tied to the front L running light, which in turn is on the tail circuit) into the header pipe and burned through it and shorted it. Just sitting there it was fime, but when I started moving it shorted! I love it when I find a definite electrical problem! OK, none of that was the brain fart, but if you're still with me, here it is: One of the things first genners are looking for is more light in back. As I had the tail light cover off I realized that the beveled edges around the base of the bulbs is painted silver but not real shiny. I got a piece of aluminum foil, cut it to fit, made the appropriate holes, put it on and pressed it into the ridges; then I pulled it back off, sprayed the dull side with adhesive and put it back in. I then used a soft parts brush to make sure it was well pressed in. It made a noticeable difference in the light output! Here are some pics but they don't really show the difference. Sorry, I can't seem to get them any larger!?! http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/01.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/02.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/03.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/04.jpg http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e138/TMagEnterprises/Extra%20Junk/05.jpg
  9. Greetings, I found a site that had clear tail light lense for the Venture but listed 99-04 models. Were the later years different? I have an 08. Links always helpful. hh

i bought a harbor freight trailer to pull behind the bike i wired the thing like it said but im having problems. when i turn on the key the running lights come on and everything looks fine but when i hit the break the right light goes out and the left light gets bright when i turn on the right or left blinker both tail lights blink this is really pissing me off its only 4 damn wires how could it be this hard? please help as i really need it Ace
  11. I just installed the Harley lights on the back of my RSV. What a difference in the quality of lighting now in the back. My question is, I would like to add chrome visors on the new HD tail lights to match the stock tail lights visors I have now. Does anyone know where I could get visors for the HD lights? Or there HD part numbers? Thanks Guys.
  12. If anybody knows, could you tell me what is the color code of the hot wire that goes to the rear tail light. My bike is a 2006 Yamaha RSTD. I am going to wire some side lights I have installed into it under the seat. I have found the plug that goes to the tail light, brake light, and signal lights but not sure which is the one for the tail light. Any help would greatly be appreciated. thanks, Jerry
  13. Tail bag, that is:) I would like something that fits well on the RSV rack. Don't care much for the Yama-bag - sort of cheap looking. Any suggestions for something well fitting good looking and that won't require a home equity loan?
  14. got it put on tonight.
  15. I purchased the P/N STR-4XY89-50-KT (2 EACH) for my 2008 RSV. They both bombed! One had no audio from the microphone at all. The other one the audio output was about 5% of the 100% that would have been normal. I've been in 2 way communication/electronics over 40 years and these were the pits! These are the ones purchased through your Yamaha Dealer. Buyer Beware! Does anyone know where I can get some that actually work on this bike? I need EVERYTHING to work properly for group rides. Need head to tail commo.

    Tail Light

GOT THIS BULB ON E-BAY THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE.
  17. Just finished up the Flanders handlebar install last week in time for a 600 mile trip. All I can say is "WOW" what a difference! Like many others I would get that nagging pain between the shoulder blades after an hour or so. Went the whole 600 miles without any discomfort. Highly recommend this upgrade if you're having the same problem. And by the way, Rick at Buckeye Performance is excellent to work with. Another change to the scoot, I installed the Radiantz LED tail light. Wished I'd done that when I got the bike. I recommend this as the first tail light upgrade and then go from there. Having a light bar up higher is also good, which I put on first. But get rid of that dull stock bulb and put this bright one in before adding all of the other little add-on's. I've had good comments on the brightness from others. It's now brighter when brakes are off than the stock was with brakes on. That make three big improvements this year. First - installing Avon's which greatly improved the handling, Second - the Flanders bars which greatly improved the comfort and Third - the LED tail light which hopefully will help keep people off by backside while I enjoy the first two.
  18. I'm wiring my 2003 venture for a trailer plug. I'm using a Hoppy #48915 which is supposed to convert independant signal/brake light, to the common combined system. I ran 4 relay's so I didn't stress the system. The problem is, all I get on the plug is tail lights, no signals or brakes. I tracked all five wires back, and even right before they go into the converter they all work fine. On the other side of the coverter/plug, of the 4 wires, only the tail light has power. Did I get a bad converter? I've read where people have used Hoppy #48845, and I don't see anything different with what I have other than the converter is in the plug and not inline. Where an I going wrong:confused24:? Thanks Steve
  19. This is a small compilation from the dragon. Not bad but I'm really just testing the video embedding feature that I am trying to add to our forum. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8Xf2Db313Y]YouTube - Tail of the Dragon, 1st edit[/ame]
  20. Ok... thanks to the help I got here, I got my headlight issues taken care of... Now the dang tail light doesn't work!! :bang head: The brake lights are ok... the bulbs are ok... the fuses are ok... What am I missing??? Why no tail lights?? Talk amongst yourselves for a bit... I gotta take the kidlet to the orthodontist right now. Scott:scorched:
  21. I finally finished wiring the trike attachment, then put the fenders on and replaced the saddlebags. I have been riding the beast around all day, and I think it's a keeper! :thumbsup2: It feels really weird when cornering hard, but in all I'm really pleased... I feel a lot less tense riding it now, so I guess it was worthwhile. I am especially proud of the two round tail lights on the trike fenders. They have 24 dual intensity red LED's for stop and tail, then an outer ring of 24 more amber LED's for signals, all in the one 2 1/4 inch light. They were expensive little dudes, but they really worked out well. Some of y'all might notice the fiberglass yellow and red rods mounted horizontally just above the radiator. They are there temporarily to remind me that I am wider than I used to be. I believe someone on this site commented that it could be a problem since you don't SEE the extra width, and the comment was absolutely right! So two easily removed reminders were added. Now if I can just retire as planned this spring, I will be ready to ride! :biker: :biker: Charlie
  22. Highway 23, better known as the 'Pig Trail' in Northwest Arkansas is lots of fun with all the twisties. We picked up Hwy 23 at Ozark, AR and followed it up to Eureka Springs. Fun Ride.
  23. I got some new leds from a truck stop near home. Light up my Angel's tail pretty good. Whatcha think?
