  1. My 1986 will burn out the tail light fuse when the handlebars are turned all the way to the right with the side stand up.It won't happen with the side stand down.Any ideas of what is happening? Thanks for any help.
  2. Well I've always been a person that likes the clean look on my bikes and I like to keep it simple. So I removed a tail light bar and back off module that the PO put on. There were a lot of wires and relays to remove. Now once I was finished I found two wires that I'm not sure where that go. They are at the tail light area and come out of the OEM harness. One is blue and the other yellow and both have male leads. Now every thing back there work. Tail light, brake light, turns, and hazards. I'm stumped.
  3. ronherny4 had a bunch of parts listed one of them being milled carb covers which i wouldnt buy last night, now i hate myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! o well easy come easy go next time i wont delay. nice rad cover, rear brake res cover, led tail light etc. ebay has rear foor boards for bid 80 dollars and i think list is about 219.00 to 265.00 but one has bubbles.think i'll go for them
  4. I'm wondering if anyone knows:icon_smile_question of any web sites that sells Smoked tail light cover for RSV's?
  5. ken

  6. Anyone still producing Venturerider DVD's .I would like to purchase if any I have the following: Potato Creek..2005 Vogel............2005 Tail of the Dragon ..2006 Eureka Springs.......2006 Eat and Ride ort Austin 2006
  7. so I got the modified headlight system (with the two bulbs) and i am installing this, aside from some broken tabs which needed fixing I get the thing in, tried a different RSL and re-soldered the CMU to get the high beam working. so far so good! I'm getting ready to install the other half of the front fairing when I discover the tail light, brake light and all my running lights are out (they are all LEDs) Zip, zilch, nada. first thought it was a busted fuse, not! The tail light fuse does get hotter then a firecracker though and next thing I know I look up and I have smoke coming from the CMU:headache:. there are four wrapped coils on the back and the TOP one on the left (fuel gauge side) has the clear coating melted off. any suggestions as to what might have happened? any ideas as to how to resolve this? anyone have a spare, working CMU laying around that they might want to part with? Do you deliver and can you do so today Thanks!
  8. Charlene and I spent the weekend in Indy this past weekend at my cousins home, he was hosting a family reunion for both sides of his family, which includes myself and Ken Derret, aka 1-Up, who is his wife's cousin, small world isnt it, I found this out right after the Tail of the Dragon in 2006. Well he had his trike there and I asked Charlene if she wanted to try riding it and she was a little reluctant at first but she did and she enjoyed it, even though we only rode the length of his very long drive..........I have to say I didnt do too well the turning radius is what I am used to and got it stuck in the grass and we had to get some help to back it up so I could ride it back to the house. As for the stalking part, they had a friend who stopped by and he was riding an 07 RSV trike so I talked up the site to him, asked him if he had his whine fixed and he said no, so I clued him in to talking to his dealer about an I-basket swap, I also convinced all four of the trike riders to come down to Vogel for next years Tail of the Dragon.:Venture: So how was your weekend??
  9. Always heard of the Tail of the Dragon but couldn't imagine 318 curves in an 11 mile stretch of road. For those curious... here is a video I came across. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/202/1/Motorcycle-Video-Gallery/Tail-of-the-Dragon-Videos.aspx The rider is on a Yamaha R1.
  10. hello still having idling problem I went down the list of things to check. I resoldered the pins on the tci, removed the stop switch and cleaned it. took all the conectors aprt and cleaned them, changed the plug wires and plugs but it still want idle.It starts and runs when the choke is on,but when it warms up and the choke shuts off and it starts to idle the tack drops to 0 and it starts to back fire thru the tail pipe it will idle but is very low all most the point where it shuts off. on the road it runs good but when you let off to stop the tack will drop and it starts the backfiring. when I am idling it seems to be loading up bad you get a lot of fumes from the tail pipe. Is there some way to check the tci box to see if it is bad.I would like to try that before I take it to the shop. around here its so costly they want your right arm and your first born. thanks alot Darrell
  11. I bought a flatbed trailer to pull behind my tour deluxe. Paid a whopping 35 bucks for it. Anyway, i have narrowed the bed and shortened it as well, narrowed the axle. Added some paint. Things left to do. Wire the bike, add tail lights, bearings and seals. Maybe a tire. But so far am up to a whopping 50 bucks invested. Here are some pics....
  12. Two days until I start my week of traveling down through NC. First stop is in Nags head for 2 days. Making our way to the Iron Horse Lodge to ride the Tail of the Dragon. Finish the trip by going up through WV via Charleston. 7 days and hopefully about 2,000 miles of great riding.
  13. I just wanted to let anyone who is interested know that the tail of the dragon is now officially open. They finished working on the road today.
  14. They stole" The Rooster Tail",At least half of it.It was announced today that The Rooster Tail Has been renamed The Diamondback.Story here. http://diamondbacknc.com/. The good part is that highway 80 is still the best road to ride and it still belongs to THE ROOSTER.Here is a couple videos of The Rooster Tail. 15. In case anyone missed it, just wanted to let them know that Willie Nelson no longer has his tail feathers.... After the actions at the first Potato Creek Rally, I got to wondering if there was any connection between Squidlymoving to Texas and Willie loosing his tail feathers.... :duck:
  16. I have some popping on decel that has been traced back to an incomplete connection of my tail pipe to the headers/Y. I am running Road King / Harley Touring pipes, and they have always been a bear to install. I've not been able to get them to expand enough to slip on, so I end up whacking them to force them on. I'm not a fan of that. Can I use this Harbor Freight Large Tail Pipe Expander? Or maybe the medium or small? I mean, is this the right sort of tool for this job? 17. Greetings All, I am looking for suggestions on increasing the tail lighting on my 2006 RSTD. Where I live there is limited light on the roads and I would like increase my safety percentage. I once located a lightbar that converted the turn signals to stay on all the time as red while flashing as the normal orange. If I recall, when the brakes were applied the main tail light did a "LED dance" (that's a technical term). Any ideas where I can locate such a contraption? Thanks in advance! Nick P
  18. Saw this today on the Tail of the Dragon website. Does anyone know for sure that it is open? Last I knew it was going to be July before they got it cleared. Also, the hubby, sons and I are heading down there in June. Has anyone ridden "Devils Triangle" or the Cheohala Skyway and are they really nice roads with a lot of twistes? Thanks Deb ROCK SLIDE UPDATE April 16, 2010: The rock slide on US 129 is located between the Dragon and Happy Valley Road/Foothills Parkway. TDOT has announced in a press release that the 11 mile section known as the Tail of the Dragon will be open from 8 am to 8 pm beginning Monday April 12, 2010. The only access is from North Carolina US 129. THP announced that there will be zero tolerance for traffic violations, so I'd travel the Tail with extreme caution. Please obey the traffic laws and report any undue harassment to us. We will forward all complaints to the Tennessee and North Carolina senators and representatives who worked so hard to get the road open. We will continue to post the latest information here so keep in touch. All is going well at the Tail of the Dragon. Traffic is low, so it's a great time to enjoy the road without fear of semi trucks and large crowds.
  19. Read this today on the Sickshooter Motorcycle web site. Popular motorcycle attraction, Dragon's Tail possibly closed for months Friday, 26 March 2010 | Written by Shaggy | Print | E-mail If you notice some motorcycle enthusiasts with a lost and worried look on their face, it may just be performance anxiety. The anxiety has nothing to do with any personal issues, but losing the opportunity to flex the motorcycle performance muscle as Mother Nature closes the king of all 'twisties', the legendary Dragon's Tail. 20Located primarily in Deals Gap, North Carolina the mountainside eleven mile stretch of road boasts a mind-blowing and constantly leaning 318 curves attracting bikers and drivers alike from all over the world. A rock slide has blocked the road with authorities expecting the route to remain closed until July 31st while crews cleanup. The rock slide, occurred on March 14th just as traffic by motorcyclists and thrill-seekers was about to pick up. The clean up process is expected to start on April 1st. The southbound lane was reopened briefly after the slide but was closed again because of safety concerns. The Dragon's Tail runs through both North Carolina and Tennessee, the rock slide has closed the road from near Chilhowee Lake to the North Carolina line. The Tennessee Department of Transportation will be responsible for awarding the contract to clean up Mother Nature's mess, but its the amount of time the job could take that has local businesses relying on tourism worried. "There's a possibility that we could lose the business," Jody Montgomery told Knox News discussing the Punkin Center Motorcycle Resort, located near the Dragon's Tail, "No one realized what impact it (the road closure) would have on this community until now." Authorities say the time is needed for contractors experienced in rock slide clearance and stabilization to transport the specialized equipment needed for such a job.
  20. I replaced the tail light with an LED. Simple enuf. Can I grab LED bulbs for the front markers as well? Or does it not work that way when they have to flash? If I replace the fronts and the tail light, how much wattage and Amps will I save?
  21. Tail of the Dragon...I :dancefool: Only 2 more months than I will be okay :rotfl:
  22. Some one on here had a posting for using HD tail lights lenses on Venture turn signals. I can't find that little bugger any where. HELP please.
  23. I'm in the process of installing LED's on my new to me sidecar and am considering tying them as well as all the bike's running lights (LED) into the tail/brake light cirquit after converting those to LED's. I'm installing two (2) 56 LED tail/brake lights, an 8 LED marker light and three light bars with a total of 48 LED's. And finally two 20 LED fog lamps. The bike would get the 19 LED tail light. Assuming that I am not going to exceed the current draw from the current two 1157 tail lights, my concern is that the wire supplying the tail light may not be big enough to pull that trick off any way. Am I correct that as long as I don't exceed my current amps I should be OK?? Hope I stated that accurately! Thanks
  24. Tail of the Dragon on GMA Sunday
  25. I would like to get very bright turn signal and tail light bulbs any suggestions?
