  1. Looking for some help on my sound system. The bike is an 06 RSV and the sound from the system is intermintent in the left ear in the head set , both rider and passanger. I have two helmets and have eleminated any problem there. I do not know if the problem extends to the speaker and don't know if in fact the system is sterio when in the speaker mode. I have checked all obvious connections and applied dielectric grease to all connections and then taped them together. can anyone suggest where else I might look for the problem. If I don't find it I will take the bike to the stealer this winter (dread) I hate to let them near a fine motorcycle. thanks for you suggestions
  2. THIS WAS FORWARDED TO ME FROM JERRY MCDANIEL , EDITOR OF THUNDER ROADS OF GEORGIA MAGAZINE. I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE IT WITH YOU. "Out of the mouths of babes." No teleprompter and a lot more brains than most of those in Congress. Let's make her Speaker of the House. Lots better than what we have now. [nomedia= ] [/"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia]
  3. I'm working on swapping out the stock front speakers in my 07 RSV. Got my Polk DB401's and followed the instructions I found on the site to disassemble the fairing to access the speakers. Then I hit a wall. I can remove the nuts holding the speaker in place, but the inside side of each speaker is behind a metal structure keeping the speaker from sliding off the bolts (see the yellow trace in the picture). I thought maybe the speaker mounting bolts might slide out from the back of the fairing if I could get the speaker grill removed. But, after removing the only screw I could see that might hold the grill in place (the red circle in the picture), the grill would not come off. http://i41.tinypic.com/11rruy1.jpg Now, given that so much of the fairing assembly is made of less-than-tolerant plastic, I didn't want to "force" anything without getting some guidance. What's my next step? Thanks to all. -Dave
  4. Right speaker louder then the left. Is there a way to balance the speakers?
  5. Hi gang, would somebody go out to there garage ? *lol* I need a measurement from the back of the rear passenger seat to were it meets to the back of the speaker pods or trunk pod. PHOTO would be OK too! Thanks, Jeff
  6. Well my project is well underway of painting the RSV. All is well except for one mishap. Does anyone have a left front speaker grill that they can sell me. Mine cracked during prep for paint.
  7. I just took out the battery and charged it. When I put it back in the radio doesn't play through the front speakers. I can barely hear it from the right rear speaker even up at max vol level. My bike is the 2000 venture mm.
  8. Hello everybody. Is there a parts wanted/available forum anywhere on this site? I'm looking for a right speaker frame/grill assembly for an 86'. Thanks in advance. Great forum!
  9. I just recently bought a standard first generation Venture that a previous owner installed a radio and speakers in. The radio is good quality but the speakers might have sounded good at one time but leave a lot to be desired now. Two questions, what is a good reasonably priced speaker to use and how difficult is the job of putting new speakers in the Ventures faring. Thanks in advance for the help and information. Mike
  10. I tried a search but couldn't find anything. I have a 99 RSV and one speaker isn't working. Right front. Clarion 090-0051-47. It has power to the speaker but won't do anything. Any info on where to get one? Thanks:Venture:
  11. I am looking for tips on how to replace blown speaker, thanks
  12. Who else cut the cassette for the amp? Where did you tap into the speaker wiring?
  13. the standard speaker is 15 watts. anyone ever upgrade to 20 or 30 watts? if so where get them? (sorry - originally posted amps + I am rebuilding a broken 07 and riding an 01 RSV) need a front speaker grill - right side - any one have an extra?
  14. Doing the amp for cassette mod and ran into something I'd rather avoid. My right rear speaker wires come out of the pod so I can see the color for them to split up at the radio. However, the left rear speaker pod has 4 wires going into it. Apparently when I swapped speakers I connected them inside the pod. I don't know what color is (+)/(-) or for that matter what two of the four is the speaker. Anyone have a diagram that tells? Haven't found it so far. Thanks.
  15. I'm not sure on any bike but my 07 if yours is not like mine then I don't know what to Tell you, but my rear speakers are Stereo. I got bored again so I decided to take a look at the rear speakers again. Now if you look at the wiring diagram for the audio circuit you will notice that they only show one rear speaker along with the two front speakers. It struck me funny that anyone would build a stereo amplifier for the two front speakers but only incorporate a mono circuit for the rear two speakers. So I decided to tear the MCU apart and take a look at this to see If it was possible to add another rear output. Well I know what your thinking, why would someone tear their MCU apart. Well I didn’t need to because while tracing the wiring for my rear speakers on my 07 RSV I discovered that it has two outputs for the rear speakers (a left channel and a right channel). That’s correct the 07 has stereo rear speakers. I don’t know about any other 2nd Gen but I would think they are all the same but I don’t know for sure. I traced the wires from the MCU to the front and rear speakers and I have attached a diagram showing the wire colors. I have also attached a few pictures showing the 18 pin MCU connector in the front fairing ( all four speaker wires run through this connector) and the two speaker connectors (one for the left rear and one for the right rear) under the passenger seat. I then made an MP3 file with sound on the right side and then sound on the left side to test what I found and even though you get some sound in the right rear speaker when there is no input for the right rear it is minimal and I think it’s just feed through from the MCU. The same is true for the left rear speakers. What you hear in the front speakers is what you get in the rear speakers if it’s stereo in the front it’s stereo in the rear. I was under the impression that the rear was mono, not true in my case on the 07. wire color code: Left Front Speaker ------Red/white + Left Front Speaker-------Gray - Right Front Speaker------Red/Black + Right Front Speaker------Blue/Black - Left Rear Speaker--------Red + Left Rear Speaker--------Brown - Right Rear Speaker-------Red/Yellow with a gray Strip + Right Rear Speaker-------Brown/Black - Am I wrong?
  16. I was wondering if anyone has ever placed a different speaker in their 2nd Gen. Venture. If so, what kind? Thanks.
  17. There must be a few electronics wizards out there. I have a IMC Motorcom 100 intercom on my Venture. This unit works fine in intercom mode but can also handle Ipods, cel phones, VFR and CB radios. I have added a Cobra mobile radio. The unit is mounted into the space where the tape deck normally goes. There is a remote handlebar PTT button. The problem is that the intercom unit has a three contact 3.5 mm stereo plug that serves as both the mike and speaker connectors. The CB radio has an external speaker mike and a standard four pin microphone jack consisting of TX,RX, Audio and Shield. I can get speaker sound to the intercom using one contact to the TX pin. No combination of pin-outs seems to make the transmit work through the helmet mike. I trust there is a simple answer. Can you please indicate how this unit should be wired? Thank you
  18. I'm not the greatest with computers but i'm gonna try and put pics of my bike on here but this trunk was on my bike and i know its not original cause its got a different key. there was sitcker on the top that said ABS but unless i've just been missing it i haven't seen pics of other bikes with speakers in the trunk. that's what i really need is a replacment speaker cover for the right side but it's tough to find something when your not really sure what its from. any help would be appreciated
  19. Hey Fellow Ventureriders! I own an '86 VR. My head set speakers sound BAD (tinney, rattles, etc.). Does anyone have any suggestions on speaker replacement? Thanks
