A week ago last Saturday I sold Bertha to a collector in our area. Bertha is number 5 in his 'gen'. 1 Venture Royale collection. I have visitation rights. I had just pulled up to my ususal parking space at my home dealershihp. A gentleman walked up to me and asked if I would sell my bike. I told him that I was still having a minor carb. adjustment problems and I thought the bike was running pretty well but needed a little more work with the pilot screws.Muffinman, I was able to clear the running rich problem on carb. number 2. Any way I shot the guy a price...What I paid for Bertha 3 years ago. He said "I'll take it". I had sold my 98 V-max in December of 2006 and sold my 05 FZ1 in June of this year (to buy a car,..ugh). I have now replaced Bertha with 'Angelena' my new 2008 FZ1. I went back to my performance roots. I had a ball traveling on the Gen 1., better than any large bike I had ever owned. That includes my Goldwing, and Harley baggers. I know I'll miss all of her creature comforts. I would still like to hang around here from time to time, just to keep up with the 'goings on'...Jeff, I want to thank you for you efforts, and hope you and Mini are well.....I'm still here, if you guys need me......Tommy

If anyone remembers, I sold my 86VR to a man in Germany & was looking e/where for a newer scoot. Wife & I got stranded on the scoot 4 times this year & it spent most of the season in the shop. We did make it to ES in Aug, though. Got a new scoot at a price I couldn't refuse. It's a 97 Honda Goldwing 1500 SE with custom paint, 21k miles, hitch & stinger + too many extras to list. Didn't cost much more than I sold my 86 for. Nav said 'newer' scoot...period. What do you think? Can I still be a member & hang-out with ya'll?

Now I remember why I sold the Vmax. I used to ride a bonneville to high school. I'm thinking get that cabin up on the other side of the creek. Then a garage and one of these. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2006models/2006-Triumph-RocketIII-Classic.htm

I sold my 86VR on eBay yesterday for Buy Now price. The strange thing is, the man who bought it lives in Hamburg, Germany & is having it crated/shipped to germany via land or sea. I had a post about a fellow in MN, who wanted "Proof of Possession", but this guy said we are both members with 100% feedback over many years & that was good enough. He called, from Germany, & asked a bunch of good questions, then bought it. I had $500.00 deposit within the hour. He bought it 6 hours before end of auction. The scoot is in good shape, looks decent, & fair price.....but sold & shipped to the-other-side-of-the-planet? WOW! I NEVER , NEVER would have expected this one.

It's the end of the 3rd quarter and I'm only $1000 short of meeting my investment goals for all of 2007. My annual goals are only 12% gain for the entire year. Now for a strong 4th quarter and I might see 15%. Gone are the days of 45% returns like we had before the dot com bubble. Real estate has been good up until the end of 2006. I sold mine in feburary 07 and glad I did it's been down all year. How many of you manage or monitor your retirement and personal investments?

Over the last two weeks (since the 08 line up came out) I have emailed a half dozen or so dealer in my region, northwest ohio, southern Michigan, northeast Indiana, about an out the door price on an 07 blue/raven. These were dealers that have ran ads on the net and in auto traders listing the 07. Only one dealer responded! and this was a dealer that sold two 07s in the last week. What is going on? I also thought salespersons worked on commission. Can anyone explain to me why a dealer would not jump at the chance to make a sale? I bet Honda would. There now I feel better.

Lots have spoken to the seat change-out issue... anyone done anything with the passengers backrest on the RSV? The wife wants something more like the 1st gen (which we just sold) or a Wing. Taller, more wrap around. Not seeing aftermarket customizations like this. Any ideas? bob

For those who have not met me (well, I haven't been exactly over-active) my name is Charlie (yep, another one). Anyway I bought a new 06 Midnight Venture last spring, and I am loving it, except that I find it a bit too much to handle when loaded 2-up. I am 68, beed riding since I was 14, but now the old legs seem to object trying to balance over a thousand pounds of motorcycle, so as I see it my only SAFE options are to sell Midnight or trike it. Well, I had the bike out for a ride today and now the answer is obvious: anything but sell the bike! I have been in contact with Tri-Wing and I'm pretty well sold on their kits, but I would like some opinions, like, am I biting off too much to chew by planning to do it myself? How much time does it take? Are there any special skills/tools required? I should also mention I am planning to retire in June or July (second time) so obviously finances are a consideration. But the bottom line is, I am JUST NOT READY TO GIVE UP MY MOTORCYCLE! By the way, I had a 1st Gen, an '87 that I bought new in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I sold it here in Raleigh in 1998 here in Raleigh, NC where we live now. And NO, I will NOT enter into the 1st Gen vs. 2nd Gen fracus! I loved my 1st Gen, and I love my Midnight! Thanks in advance for any advice/help/warnings. Charlie

I have decided to off a small discount to anyone purchasing either one of the Lift Adapter models during the month of Feburary. Standard adapters will be $70 and the freestanding model will be $120 and I'll include foot pads all that are sold then as well. As before shipping is included as well. Canadian members will have to make up any actual differences in shipping coasts. As they have in the past. Thanks one and all for your comtinued support. Larry
