  1. Does anyone know of a web site called pitatebiker.com or something like that for parts for different motorcycles. looking for CB antenna. Thanks Ron
  2. Thought this was. After looking up who's on line. I noticed that SOME of YOU live here. :rotf: But what was more impressive is that 1200 of the members check the site at least once every 4 days and that's not even considering the ones who check it and never log in Plus the guest just browsing. What a SITE ?
  3. I just bought my 02 RSV this past December. I am trying to remove the headlamp visor that was installed by the previous owner. Will I have to split the fairing to get to it? My second question is regarding the passing lamps. I have been reviewing this site for the best alternative in making the lights brighter. When I opened the chrome pieces to remove the visors from the passing lamps, the whole bulb/light came out-attached by two wires that are screwed to the back of the passing lamp housing. I don't know whether these passing lamps are OEM or aftermarket. It looks as if I can't replace just the bulb without replacing the whole unit that fits inside of the passing lamp housing. Is there any one that knows a site that sells the whole unit for brighter lighting. I don't think just a H3 bulb will work. Thanks for listening! Cubby

    Intro

Greetings one & all, My name is Dan Bollacker. I live in Denver (Littleton) Colorado. I rode in the late 60's until the early 80's. Sold the bikes to raise the fam. Kids are on their own now. In 2004 I got back on a new 1300 VTX which I accessorized quite heavily. Last year I found this site while doing research on bikes that would be more comfortable especially over longer distances. Last year at "Thunder Mountain" (rally at Loveland, CO) I test rode all the brands. Later when Victory came to town with their road show, I drove one. In my opinion the RSV came out on top for all the same reasons mentioned on this site. I had to have blue. Tried to buy a new 07 last September but the bank & could not get close enough. I was bummed. Kind of gave up. I was not all that displeased with the VTX. The flame rekindled after the first of the year. I would check around from time to time. Found a used 07 with 5000 miles in Florence, CO. Where the heck is that. To my surprize I discovered this cool dealership in this small rural community about 100 miles southwest of Denver. They pride themselves on their customer service. They are THAT good. We made the deal ant the rest has been up hill all the way. This site is amazing and way beyond helpful. I've been implementing many of the things covered in this site. Thanks everyone! Especially to the fore founders whom have done all the grunt work so that us newbees have a much smoother road to travel. Hope I did'nt bore you to tears. Thanks again, Dan in Denver. 07 RSV Crystlblu
  5. I have deleted the message due to DakotaSport no longer being a member of this site.
  6. My brother is thinking about putting a 2004 RSV motor on his 98 Royal Star.I was wondering if anybody on this site had done this. Also if anybody knew of problems we would run into.
  7. I couldn't find an article about installing a speedohealer on the site, but right on their site is an article. http://www.speedohealer.com/your_pics/royalstar/sh_install_royalstar.pdf
  8. Just curious if anyone on the site has done a before and after dyno run on their second generation Venture or Royal Star after adding some or all of the following items to improve the performance : 1. Aftermarket slip ons. 2. K&N or other less restrictive air filter. 3. Dyna 3000 or other ignition mod. 4. Jet Kit. I am sure that many people on the site have done some or all of the above and if you didn't confirm the results with a dyno run what did the seat of the pants feel indicate after the mods.
  9. I went and picked up my '06 RSV today. My son, Jeff went along to keep me company and we had a real nice father and son bonding day. It didn't hurt that I bought lunch at a nice lunch buffet...LOL Here's a pic from the dealers web site. My camera got wrecked in the accident and I haven't had time to figure out how to use the new one yet. http://www.ggmotorcycles.ca/index_files/1300Venture.jpg
  10. Saw what looked to be a brown 1st Gen heading east on Sunset this morning on my way to the Golf Coarse. Was it any one on the site??......................Ron
  11. What a wonderful resource I have found here in both knowledge and kind like minded people. I just hit the donation page with a meger donation to say thanks for such an obvioulsy well run site! I have only been around a week since getting the Venture but thanks to this site, I will now make some upgrade decisions with confidence and feel I already have a good understanding of my new bike. Everyone here has been so real, kind and gracious. A rare find on ineternet fourms. The only other one that comes close is the Canon Photography On The Net forum, another hang out from another passion of mine. Anyway just wanted to extend my thanks to the administrators and moderators of VentureRider, you guys obviously have this well figured out on running an outstanding site. God bless and ride safe!
  12. I've seen this issue come up now and then, thought I'd post a link to see if it might help some folks. http://www.picturetrail.com/webpages/editor/product.shtml This is a link to a simple photoeditor I used when I was on a pc. It will do batch (multiple) resizing of photos, and even add watermarks if you want. It will also batch upload to the PictureTrail site, but you dont have to use that function, you can just save pictures to a new folder, or resize the ones you have. Then you can upload pictures to this site, or others, that have a size limitation. I'm using a mac now, and batch resizing is included in iPhoto, so I dont use PictureTrail now, but I did in the past and it worked well.
  13. I was wanting to learn a new language, Spanish, and saw TV bits about RosettaStone and wondered if anyone has tried it. When I went to the site, I want to learn Spanish. I went to their site and you have to tell them either Latin America or Spain. Here.... (Texas) they speak Tex-Mex. Son told me the Latin one was closer than the Spain. Any input????:confused24:
  14. Hi all, Just wanted to let everybody know in this neck of the woods that my web site is down and I don't know how long it'll be that way, so for now; I'll be sitting on the side lines and trying to keep up with things through the wife's web site. Even though hers works and mind doesn't on the same computer, I'll just do hit and miss things without actually knowing what I'm doing if that makes any scense, wish me luck, lol.
  15. :confused24:Hi. Have read the headlight change in the tech deptarment, but when I tried to go to the coolbulb.com site, I get nothing. Has the site name changed?? Or am I just having a bad day? Appreciate your help as I have a broken headlight and WILL NOT pay the ridiculous price of having to change out the whole mechanism as Yamaha wants us to. Thanks in advance. Arnold

  17. Greg Darling is a friend that I met a few years ago. He followed me into a restaurant and asked "Was that you that just rode up on a Venture?" I replied "That depends on why you want to know!" That was the beginning of a friendship. He had just bought a 92 and we sat and talked Ventures, I turned him on to this site and we began to ride together. Later he moved it to his house in Florida and bought an 83 to keep here in Roswell. On this site he went by GOYO, and although he didn't post, he did check in periodically. He has been battling cancer for some time and, after going through treatments last year, was in remission and doing well; getting both his strength and hair back. I called him a few weeks ago and he was in the hospital. He told me the cancer was back with a vengeance and he said he had a lot of family there, but would call me in a few days. I talked to him a little over a week ago and asked how he was doing. He said "Not too well, I am in hospice now and don't have very long. But I've had a good life and am happy with it." I told him that I expect him to ride over my shoulder and he agreed. I didn't get a chance to see Greg before he passed on Sunday (3-2-08). I am very sorry for that but after talking to his mother-in-law today, he was not really aware of much for the last week. Greg is survived by his wife Valerie and 2 young children. There is to be a memorial service on the Tuesday after Easter which is the 25th. I'm not sure where it will be held but it will be in the N Atlanta area and I intend to ride to it if at all possible. As the time draws near I will post the time and place for any that care to join me on the way to or at the service. Don, I will try to get you info and a picture for the Memorial Page. You will be missed, Greg. Ride with God.

    My Venture Trike is Gone

Just thought I'd let y'all know that I have finally sold my venture, trike kit and all! I have not been terribly active on the Venturerider site due to other time commitments, but I did want to thank you all, especially those who contributed all those techie articles that tended to improve on the design of the Venture, and I also enjoyed all the chit-chat and exchanges. My wife and I even got to attend one Meed 'n Eat in western NC... those who were there will remember the Midnight Venture with training wheels Anyway, I'd like to stick around a while if y'all don't mind... I will probably not be buying another bike, but you never know. I've been riding for 55 years, and old habits are hard to break. Thanks to all who made this site possible, and those who work so hard to keep it running smoothly... God bless every one of you and above all, RIDE SAFE!!!! Charlie
  19. I was thinking of buying a 1996 YAMAHA VMX12 (VMAX) anyone have information on it or is there a site out there on this bike
  20. A favor to ask, it only takes a minute.... * I * 6*Y Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window in the middle). This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/

  22. Well it's about time. The trunk wing is finally available for the 06 Black Cherry, and will you look at that it is also available for the 08 Dark Grey metallic. I don't see it on the Yamaha USA web site, nor on any of the other suppliers that we use here. To buy it in Canada will cost you big bucks though. Check it out. http://www.yamaha-motor.ca/products/accessories_apparel.php?section=aa&model=2440&apparel=&accessory=2020accessoryApparel Keith.

  24. I need to get a new Venture Rider cap but can not seem to find the area to order one. I went to the VR store but there are no hats. Any body know where the site is located?
  25. Hi, I joined this site recently. I use a Macintosh computer and a program called 'Safari' when I joined and logged in. However, Safari crashes quite often on this site so I tried to used Internet Explorer. I can't sign in. It does not recognize my password. I went into Safari and changed passwords to a new one. Back to IE....same problem. Even if I say I have forgotten my password, it does not recognize my username with my email address. Why is this? Is this something on my end? Thanks.
