    cb mic

can someone tell me if there`s a mic hand held made for the cb on the ventures???
  2. I'm going to buy a set of mic mutes at maintenance day. I asked Bill Morphy with mic-mutes if he would help with installation. He said he had only installed on a gold wing. Anyone with mic mutes on their venture be willing to help?
  3. I posted this in the wanted to buy section but not getting any help so I will post it here I hope that is all right. I am looking to buy a 5 pin handheld mic that will plug into the 2nd Gen plug that sits on the gas tank. J&M use to make one but not anymore. I have been to 3 truck stops and the few 5 pin cb handheld mics they have do not match up and all the rest of the mic's are 4 pin. I would like to buy a handheld mic that works with the 2nd Gen or if someone has a model number of a handheld mic that they could give me I can Google it and buy a new one. Thanks Harry:puzzled:
  4. I was just wondering if anyone has been able to get the Mic Mutes to work on a 1st gen and how hard that is to do? Seems I'm getting some wind noise from the Navigators headset. She has a Modular helmet and I think with her shield open the wind is buffeting around the chin bar. Mine is a 3/4 helmet and there is no noise at all from it. Wayne
  5. I am trying to install a CB on my 83 Venture. Ebay has a head unit, but it does not include wiring and mic. I am trying to locate whatever I need to install a CB on a bike that does not have one now. Thank you for any information you may give me. AL
  6. Hi Guys, Bought a Garmin Nuvi 550, I currently have it hooked up with through the audio in/out. I want to be able to "Key" the mic so that when the GPS gives audible directions the "keying" of the mic will let the other riders hear whats being said along with me. When I key the mic now, I can't hear whats being said and nobody else can hear anything...... What am i doing wrong? I know it's possible as I think somebody else has it working from a group ride I was on last year.

    Microphones

What mic would fit the Venture S 2008? I need to buy a mic for a Venture I am planning to buy in a few weeks and it dosent have a mic. Cheers
  8. The plug broke off inside the auxillary input on the 2007 RSV. Can't get to it from the front. Will I have to take off fairing to get at it from the back? Will I be able to get it out from the back or not be able to use ? Also have a squeal in the sound system when only the front headset is plugged in. Sometimes it will squeal all the time sometimes only when you go over a bump. When the wife plugs in in never squeals. Dealer said it was mic feedback but it doesn't go away when I cover up the mic. Thanks
  9. Greetings all. I'm having a reoccurring problem with my intercom and wondering if anyone else can give some insight. The intercom is picking up what sounds like ignition pop through the speakers, because it speeds up and slows down with the engin rpm. It comes and goes usually when you hit the right kind of bump in the road. I can also give the fairing a good tap on the left side and sometimes that will make it go away. Other times nothing makes it go away, very irritating!!!! It doesn't make any difference which audio is on (radio or cb) when it has a mind to do it. Sometimes the only way to get it to stop is to turn both audio and cb off. No sound at all then. It did this before mic mutes and has started again after mic mutes. I've had it into the dealer for it once, they couldn't find the problem, so they replaced the entire intercom system (they said), and it stopped for a long time, but its back now. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue, or has any thoughts on what to check. Thanks to all. Chris
  10. Does anybod use a throat mic for thier CB??? What brand works well with the CB in the 2nd Gen RSV???? I wear a half helmet and would like to use the speakers on the bike to listen to the CB and would like to talk on the CB, but I dont want a boom mic on my helmet. Any sujestions????
  11. Last weekend, me and my best friend took a 900 mile trip to Texoma and back. Me on my RSV and him on his Valkyrie. Our wives, who weren't too keen on making the trip on the bikes took my Taurus. Anyways, we setup CBs for both his bike ( a little hand-held motorola with a headset) and the Taurus (little cheapo Cobra with a magnet mount antenna). Prior to the trip we tested both of my headsets, a J&M and a Chatterbox. On both headsets we noted that I was coming through real quiet like. Didn't think much of it till we actaully got on the road, in which case the girls could hear and understand me (barely) but he couldn't very well... Now, planning for furture rides, I am curious as to whether their is anyway I can increase the gain on the mic...don't know of one in the settings, but is there a turn pot somewhere I can tweak? As an appeasement to the CB gods, I have included 2 shots of us headed home. One runnin' down US77 and the other runnin' down TX22 about to cross over Whitney Lake Dam...
  12. During the ride to the last Va meet and eat I found out that my microphone died.Well after thinking about it for more than a week I emailed J&M this I have a HS8154 headset that is 2 years old and the Mic stopped working I already checked the pins and tried a different cable and it is still out.The speakers work fine what I would like to know is do you have any suggestions as to what I can do so far as troubleshooting the Mic itself? Thanks Jeff And this was the reply from them Jeff ,,,,,, I am sorry that you have had problems ,,,,,, Please send the headset to my attention at the address below ,,, we will take care of it for you ,,,,,, Best regards ,,,,,,, Mini mailed the broken headset off for me last monday and we recieved My headset back today repaired and good as new at no cost. I think that this is very nice of them to replace defective parts 2 years out of the box. As far as I am concened they have excelent customer service. Jeff
  13. I just finished putting in the Buddy Rich fix for using the cell over the zumo, and it works great. My question is that the head set I have hangs over my ears and is really uncomfortable. If I switch back to the external speakers will the mic still work? If no one knows I will give it a shot when I get home this afternoon.
  14. I am going to install the mic mutes today, and was wondering, has any one relocated the drivers head set cord off of the tank to another location?? also any tips on this installation would be great!! Thanks, K
  15. I recently had my Zumo's motorcycle mount replaced due to a bad connection at the mic input jack causing problems when I tried to talk on the bluetooth phone. I had been using a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to connect the mic. This adapter was a straight adapter which along with the 3.5mm jack caused the whole jack assembly to stick straight out from the mount. My theory is that this put quite a bit of stress on the female jack from the vibrations of the bike. So I went online and found a 90 degree cable adapter that allows me to connect the mic and keep the weight of the cable off of the jack. I figure it can't hurt. If you are interested here is a link to the adapter that I bought: http://www.eforcity.com/cothxxxxad01.html DT
  16. I am fairly new to the club and just got back into touring bikes, so bear with me. I'm driving the 07 black & blue, love it, but want to use a hand held mic and the external speakers for CB communication. Does anyone know how to wire the mic into the 2gen 5pin intercom? I realize I am opening myself up to the safety comments. But I have seen that some have either bought one or made them up. I've read all the threads and looked at the diagrams posted, but just can't figure it out. How about a simple diagram, or web site to buy one from.
  17. I'm not to smart when it comes to electronics, but logic tells me that this should be possible. I have an 85 VR with the radio\cassette, and intercom but no CB. I also have a Uniden Pro 510xl CB with a Mic-Master 'hands free' mic attachment that gives me the push to talk button. (these are used by truckers, mic on the ear, PTT on the gear shift, and takes the place of the mic on the CB). Can I wire all this into the bike amp to make it work through the intercom speakers and mic?
  18. .....is there such a thing? First off, allow me to point out that I am not one who is particularly interested in doing a lot of conversing via cell phone - especially while operating a motor vehicle. And, as another poster had informed, my aim is to be able to field important calls from my family. I use a full-face helmet, and my bluetooth earpiece will not fit with the helmet on. So I wondered if there were such a thing as a bluetooth headset which was made to be attached to the helmet's outer side, with a long enough boom mic to reach the operator's mouth location at the helmet's lower inner side. A guy that I used to ride with, years ago, had a similar double-set unit that he used to communicate with his passenger. His was a different setup, of course, and for tethered communication. But they were both able to hear each other, through the shell of their respective helmets (earpiece attached to outer side), and speak back through the boom mic that reached underneath their protective headgear. It would be nice if there were a singular-design bluetooth headset for bikers, who desire what I would like to have.

    Microphone help

I am looking for a microphone that I can switch easily between helmets. I don't need a headset as I listen through the external speakers. I ride Tailgunner and am constantly talking to the Road Captain so a handheld model won't work. I have an older J&M set that works fine, but it is a hassle to move around and the boom mic is giant. Does anyone know of a throat microphone available that will plug into my 2nd Gen's CB? I would also consider a compact mini-boom that I attach - as long as I don't have to mess with the ear phones. Any help is appreciated.
  20. I just got a new RSV but still want to wear full face helmets.. Got the wife and myself each new Shoei RF1000 helmets.. Then ordered two J&M fullface headsets to fit the bike's intercom system, but the speakers and mic are thicker than the headsets from my old audioboss system. The instructions in the headsets say to cut holes in the styrofoam liner of the helmet for the speakers and mic. I'm not to sure about doing this. Has anyone done this on an RF1000? OR know of anyone that does J&M headset installs, quick neat and professionally, for not too much, in North or Central Florida? J&M says you can send the helmet to them and they will do it, for a nominal fee, but I'd rather not ship the helmets off for who knows how long.
