  1. If you were working tomorrow, this would be a really great distraction! I'm leaving tomorrow at 0400 CST, going round the lake. AKA, going around Lake Michigan, counter clockwise. We're taking about 3 to 4 days, give or take. So, I purchased this GPS transmitter that will transmit my location during my journey every 10 minutes on the internet, which means you can "track" my travels as I go along. Again, not something to do on a sunny weekend day! I will also attempt to post to this forum via Blackberry, as I did when I purchased the bike and brought it home 1115 miles. Murphy is of course, kicking my arse at the moment and, whaddya know the web tracking website is DOWN. All friggin day. The link below "should" be working by tomorrow morning, so they tell me. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=07AVc4aiQsNh8cYYCBy7sbYRAizTEtyEW So again, this is kindof experimental but, it has worked previously. Just, don't try now, as the web site is down. C ya!
  2. Heading out Sunday early (3)am for Salt Lake City, plan on being there on Monday morning/mid day. A friend who owns a KTM dealership here in Lexington and I are planning on making it under 36 hours. A couple guys from SLC have already offered their hospitality to show me around while my friend attends those boring meetings and such. Will attempt to be online Monday night with results-if my laptop decides to come out of its coma. It went comatose yesterday and is now on life support. At this time plans are to leave either Wednesday night or early Thursday morning for return to Ky. I'm gonna have a blast, been wanting to do this for years and i'm going to go even if I have to ride my Vulcan!
  3. Talked the hubby into taking off Thur-Sun to go over to Lake Michigan this week. Don't really have a plan. We plan on camping as it's so reasonable to camp in Wisconsin. Because of one drama after another, we haven't had much riding time and it will do us both to get away for a couple of days. Anyone know of any special roads to ride, places to stop? Any nice campground by the lake? Thanks
  4. Hey all you members in the Salt Lake City area, I haven't been a member long, but the members back East are putting us to shame! We look downright un-sociable by comparison. I am willing to organize a Meet - n - Eat if I get some feedback showing interest from members in the area. If you would be interested in having Meet - n - Eat's once every couple of months at different locations around the Wasatch Front and possibly the Wasatch "back" (places like Heber, Park City, Morgan) let me know and I will agree to try and set em up. 5. Just got back with over 1000 miles under my butt in 73 hrs. From home to Spillville Ia, House on the Rock, Wi, Wisconsin Dells, Eau Claire Wi, visited grandkids in Eau Claire, then around Lake Pepin on the Mississippi, both sides, Red Wing, Lake City and Wabasha, then to Rochester, Mn, Owatonna Mn, Sleepy Eye, Mn then the quickest way home as it was getting late. Never before tried this, Venture performed flawlessly, I didn't tried to kill on some uphill starts, and redlight goofs. Had lots of fun trying to get a motel room this weekend around here, as Sturgis riders, both coming and going were filling most motels along the interstate. Had lots of fun. Daryl
  6. On I-5 headed for Lake Taho, Two weeks ago, crossing bridge over Lake Shasta, saw this Aircraft, and was lucky enough to get some photo's. Anybody recognise this Old Aircraft ?? ( WWII Vintage, only 3 of them left )
  7. She did it to me again..... in fact out fished the other 2 boats in the area She released 4 walleye and 2 lake Trout and I ended up with 1 walleyee and 1 small mouth bass
  8. Just got back from Lake Taho, today. Two day ride, return trip, 830 miles. Rode from Sacremento, North, to Redding Calif yesterday on I-5. Temperature in the Calif. Central Valley, was 112 Deg. F. About 180 miles at that temp. I intend to avoid doing that again !! Forcast on TV at 6pm on Cable TV in Weed, Calif. yesterday evening. They said, 114 deg for the next 5 days. Anybody planning on riding in that area this week, or weekend, Be Advised !!!! ie. Interstate 5, I managed, 45 min. rideing, and had to find some air conditioned place to cool off at, then go another 45 min. Phweeeeeee. It was HOT However the bike, ran like a Swiss Watch, seemed to like the Heat!!! Had a great time rideing all the roads around Lake Taho, with my Sister, and Hubby. Saw the Fireworks display on Lake Taho, pretty spectacular. I would estimate there was about 20,000 people there. Must have been at least 2000 Harley's !!!! Lots of great roads to ride, around Lake Taho,
  9. I have taken off work for the next two weeks. Dylan and I will be going to Kitchener for the Rally on Tuesday and will return on Friday. The following week, Eileen and I plan to get away for a week. We are thinking about just riding down to North Carolina for a few days. I'm thinking maybe the Lake Lure area. If so, I can get free hotel rooms in Black Mountain, Hendersonville, Ashville, Arden, Forest City or Marion. Now bearing in mind that we really like areas that are not too awfully crowded with traffic and etc., which would you recommend. I'm leaning towards Arden at this time but that is just a gut feeling. Also, any areas that would be BETTER than the Lake Lure area? I'm certainly open to suggestions. Wouldn't even mind going on to the coast but again there is the traffic and TOO MANY PEOPLE problem. We really aren't looking for exiting things to do or shopping but just nice riding, pretty scenery, a laid back time.

  13. A very nice ride up to Lake Lure, NC. Sunny, birds singing, bugs splattering the windshield, Mechanic takin pics on some twisties. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhakws%20Mechani%20Lake%20Lure%2020080301/ :cool10:
  14. Haven't dropped by in a while, and not quite sure why. Maybe it's because I don't seem to have much downtime lately... or because after sitting on a computer all day at work I can't bring myself to hardly look at one at home! Hopefully everyone is doing well, and hopefully at least some of you are able to get out and ride. I'm having withdrawals so bad right now, spring can't come soon enough. Anyone planning any exciting trips this year? I'm hoping my dad and I will get our plans set in motion to take a trip up and around Lake Superior. We talked about it last year, but scheduling never got worked out, and my mom was having problems with her foot and was in a boot for 6 months (that put a damper on her riding). Anyways, just thought I'd drop by and say hello, and hope everyone is surviving the winter!
  15. Try your hand at this fishing game. Read the instructions (below) first. You will see the fish swimming in the lake. Click on the place in the Lake you want the man to cast his line. Remember the fish are swimming and if you click on the fish by the time he casts his line the fish will have moved beyond that point. So click on a spot ahead of the fish where you think the fish will be after the line has been cast. This is for all of you great outdoors men who love to fish, but don't want to drive to the lake...so, good luck, and no lies!!!...and turn up your volume. Note: There is a tackle box nearby, want a different lure? Just click on it! Kenai River Run http://www.peninsulaclarion.com/kenairiverrun/kenairiverrun.html
  16. I have done this ride a few times and it's a good ride. My club uses it because it gives you a little of everything. We start from the Harley dealership in Kissimmee on 192 across from Old Town. You can alter this any way you want but this way takes you mostly back roads both twisty and straight for about 145 miles and 5 hours if you stop for lunch. Leave Harley dealership and head west on 192 to Avalon Rd north (545) Take Avalon north across Hwy 50 to the first light which is Oakland Make a left on Oakland and follow until it turns into 438 You'll need to turn right just before you get to 50 again by the west orange trail. There 438 will turn into old hwy 50 Follow that and it will turn into 455 Stay on 455 till you come to a stop sign where it intersects with 561 Make a left on 561 and follow that till you hit Hwy 27 Make a left on 27 and go about 4 miles to Old Hwy 50/Washington and make a right. By now you may be hungry so when you get to the stop sign about a block away look on the SW corner. It is the Lake Minneola Inn which has the Tiki Bar and Grill behind it. An excellent burger while you're sitting on the deck on the edge of the lake. Leaving Tiki go south on Main St. till you hit Hwy 50 and go right Take Hwy 50 west into Tarrytown and make a left on 471 Take 471 till it dead ends (about 37 miles) into 98 and make a left Take 98 to the light which is Rockridge Rd and go left Stay on Rockridge and it will curve into Deen Still Rd. If you make a left you can follow rockridge but don't. Take Deen Still till you cross Hwy 27 and about 2 miles look for Lake Wilson Road (Chevron on corner) and make a left Stay on lake Wilson, which will turn into Old Lake Wilson when it crosses Osceola Polk Line Rd, till you get to Hwy 192 again and make a right. The Harley Dealer will be about a mile or so on the left.Sounds complicated but I'm a bit anal and wouldn't want anyone to get lost. Ride it once and you'll see how easy it is and never need the directions again.
  17. Has any one rode to Lake Louise ??? I probably spelt the name wrong...but hey...its early... I am from NW Montana and have been there years ago in a cage, but would love to ride there...
