  1. What a joy to wake up and see snow pouring down and actually sticking to the ground this morning. We had several inches across southern Louisiana and Mississippi. School was called off because people don't know how to drive in it here. A friend was driving to Florida today and had to turn back because the interstate was closed down about 40 miles from here due to the snow and then an ice storm. I have lived in Louisiana all of my life (55 this month) except 3 years in the army and probably have not seen snow here 10 times. It did snow a lot the year I was sweating in Viet Nam. My wife made me a snowman and froze it in the freezer until I got home. It was ice then. Glad it doesn't happen often but it is fun once in a while. About half of it has melted now. It is supposed to be back in the 70's by Sunday. What weather we have here. Lyle

    gone hunting

pulling the pin at 6 am, so won't be seeing you, till next monday night, i like your weather forcast; Friesman, just don't like that thin ice, ends up that you have to take more hunting suits than underware, trying to get a quad back ontop of thin ice one is bound to get wet. and guys if you are going to poke someone with a stick, make sure it is a sharp one, at least give him an excuss to howl. It's all fun and games till someone loses an eye, then it gets halarious. pete:thumbsup2:
  3. Any one up to a ride this afternoon to get Ice cream???? Thinking about a ride to FayetVille.... give me a call on my cell if you want to get together... 281-802-6772 Kreg
  4. looking to take a trip in October to Dowagiac MI what is the weather like around that time should i be concerned about snow or ice around that time?
  5. What a beautiful day! Riderduke, his wife, Kitesquid, his wife, KA Woodworth, Bugfish and I met and had lunch at Willey's BBQ in Westmoreland. Good stuff. Than we hooked up with Jrichard, stopped by a custom paint shop, did a little dreamin' and headed back to Fredericksburg for some Carl's Ice Cream. Old Rusty, his wife and Two Tone White joined us there. Mmmmm, the ice cream went down way to fast but oh so yummy! Bug and I had a little spit from good ol' Mother Nature on the way home. I hope everyone else stayed dry. Here's a few pics. My camera's batteries were dead so I settled for a couple shots with the cell. It was great to see everyone and also to meet more Venture riders. Lookin' forward to PA! Hope to see you all again soon. Wendy
  6. One of the things that goes with our hobby is bad things happen. Therefore, I feel it is real important that you carry an ICE card, that's an "In Case of Emergency" card with pertinant phone number contacts. I have one that I carry on me and I also have another one in my motorcycle. I have my name, my wife's, my son's and my two sister's names and phone numbers listed. I printed them up on yellow paper and laminated them at work and I have them about the size of credit card. I hope I never need them, but if I do, the information is available. With todays use of cellular phones, it is not as easy to look up information as it once was. RandyA
  7. Well, after being home from the rally,I'm just not feeling myself. Dr.Shari has diognosed the problem as "Timmies Withdrawl" She thinks we may have to head back to Canada to get me a large Ice Cap... I usually don't like cappachino, but those were really good...:D:D
  8. Table ! Well I finally got the table put together. Its made of concrete. It just doesn't get any better than to enjoy an ice cream along the river on your own DQ table.....
  9. Just wondering if there is any plans for a ride this holiday weekend? How about it Al and Diane (I scream for ice cream)!! Joe
  10. be careful Next time you go ice fishing...............
  11. I don't know how often I'll be able to check in today. We got slammed with an ice storm and it took my internet out. I have a wireless service at home and apparently the transmitter on top of the tower somewhere is encased in ice and has my service shut down. They couldn't tell me how long. They can't get up the towner to clear the ice. So...I'm sitting in the car now in town where I could get a WIFI signal to check my messages. I'll check in when I can but if you have a problem, please understand that I may not reply as quick as I usually do. My mother in law's funeral is tomorrow so I'll be pretty much tied up tomorrow also. Step father's funeral was yesterday in Texas. I didn't make it but my brother has reported that all went as well as can be expected. Thanks to all of you for the condolences.

    vest pin

We have been purchasing pins or stickers on our destination trips. One of my wifes has had the pin break flush with the back of it. Anyone have a sure fire way of reattaching it? It can't be heated or it will ruin it. Ice & Boredom.
  13. Last week, I took my children to a restaurant. My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, 'God is good, God is great. Thank You for the food, and I would even thank You more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!' Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, 'That's what's wrong with this country. Kids today don't even know how to pray. Asking God for ice cream! Why, I never!' Hearing this, my son burst into tears and asked me, 'Did I do it wrong? Is God mad at me?' As I held him and assured him that he had done a terrific job, and God was certainly not mad at him, an elderly gentleman approached the table. He winked at my son and said, 'I happen to know that God thought that was a great prayer.' 'Really?' my son asked. 'Cross my heart,' the man replied. Then, in a theatrical whisper, he added (indicating the woman whose remark had started this whole thing), 'Too bad she never asks God for ice cream. A little ice cream is good for the soul sometimes.' Naturally, I bought my kids ice cream at the end of the meal. My son stared at his for a moment, and then did something I will remember the rest of my life. He picked up his sundae and, without a word, walked over and placed it in front of the woman. With a big smile he told her, 'Here, this is for you. Ice cream is good for the soul sometimes; and my soul is good already.' The End I love this story! Sometimes, we all need some ice cream. No wonder us Venture Riders love DQ! We know it is good for our soul! I hope God sends you some Ice Cream today!!! Ride Safe to the nearest DQ! Bobbie

  16. We all carry our mobile phones with names & numbers stored in its memory but nobody, other than ourselves, knows which of these numbers belong to our closest family or friends. If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this "ICE" (In Case of Emergency) Campaign The concept of "ICE" is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name "ICE" ( In Case Of Emergency). The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialing the number you have stored as "ICE." For more than one contact name simply enter ICE1, ICE2 and ICE3 etc. A great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today! Please forward this. It won't take too many "forwards" before everybody will know about thisIt really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest . ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

I have an chance to do some school in the Sacramento area three weekends starting on Feb 22. What is the weather like this time of year? I have an Aunt who lives there but they don't ride. 20. Hi Guys! I just purchased a friend's (pull behind the bike) trailer and it has the perfect place to mount an ice chest cooler rack right between the hitch and the bed. So, now I'm looking for some suggestions where to look for this type of rack. It would also be nice if I could use it alone (on the hitch) without the trailer. Anyone have some ideas or pictures to share? Thanks & Be Safe! Pete.
  21. This is our typical day of Ice Fishing -40 F
