Just got one...as far as the installation, for those of you that have one, how did you hold it down to the tank? Did you use double sided tape like the stock rubber piece uses? Since back of it is felt I'm thinking that might not hold too well. Or don't tie it down at all? Just wondering...thanks for the info...JR

I just bought the Craftsman lift jack but have never used one. I read the thread and replies on lifting an RSV, using the lift adapter, hockey pucs, 2x4's, etc. Seems pretty simple. I am usually alone when doing anything in the garage so the question I have is what is the best way to hold the bike staight up while getting the jack positioned and lifted? I know another person would be the easiest but not always possible.

Class/CB panel attachment fix
BJB posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Don't ask me how this happens LOL, but if you have problems with the Class/CB panel cracking around the hold down screws this may help you. Since all of mine were cracked and broken, I removed all the screws (6) and replaced them with m4-0.7x25 metric screws. I also went to hardware store (home hardware in Canada) and picked up 6 beveled washers in size 00 in the facet section. Simply thread the screw through the washer and then through the panel. It's not as neat as the original recessed screws with caps, but it does hold the panel down and doesn't look all that bad. Hope this helps someone in the same situation. See attached photos. -
Anyone know a good source for the screws that hold the reservoir covers? I ordered two chrome covers and I assumed they would come with chrome screws (ass u me). Actually, they didn't come with screws at all and the dark grey screws that come on the bike don't look good with the chrome reservoir covers. I am also looking to replace the screws that hold that piece of chrome above the gas cap with chrome ones.

Greetings... Was puttering around the yard sales today... Found this: A Victorinox small-pack- the company that makes the original Swiss army knives. - so you KNOW it's quality!! Heavy nylon construction, waterproof, excellent zippers... The Bag - $.99 - at our local Pussy-Cat Salvage Store - a local "thrift-store" that devotes the procedes to 'rescuing' cats... Terry (excellent saleman who also rides! Willing to search the entire store!) at REI provided me with 2 sets of $.80 clips (2 ea) that fit the straps perfectly - 2 at the top, and 2 at the sides. A few minutes installing the clips - which fit under the top-cover and hold the bag perfectly - Total cost: $2.60 + Governor's cut. We'll call it $3.00 even... Big enough to hold the 9mm, ammo, camera, the mail, Jacket, gloves, and other assorted goodies found in my pockets- and a bottle of water in the expanding side pouch. No more Velcro coming unglued in the extreme heat -positive hooking, easily removed and installed without taking off the top-cover... Took the Tersiphone up to 100 mph to test for function - lost my cigarrette but not my new bag!!

I am leaving for Star Days on Monday, just noticed that the lower left side cowling/fairing as a horizontal crack starting from the outside and working its way inward towards the radiator. Need to hold it together for the week ride. This is the 2nd one I have gone through - first one (original) lasted 8 years, I just replaced it 1.5 months ago and now this one has cracked. Anyone have any advice? TIA

After a lot of consideration I have decided to trike my bike. I leave Monday the 12th to go up to Seymoure, Indiana to have a Hannigan Trike kit installed. (reason why Indiana, I have family up there and it's a good time to visit.) My legs are getting bad and it becomes hard to hold the bike up when stopping and starting again. I know that some of you have already or are in the process of triking your bike. I'm going to miss being on two wheels, but I still want to ride. I have a lot of camping to do with the bike, I mean trike. I will have some parts for an "04 White RSV, so if you know anyone that needs something in that line have them get a hold of me. I will also have a trailer hitch, and a jack adapter from Carbon 1 that I wont need any more. I look forward to riding with you all. Ken

Hi Guys and Gals: I found a chrome bumper with lots of lights on eBay and purchased it. So far I think it is pretty good and is cleaning up nice. I have one problem though. There are two "U" bolts that I need for installing this thing. They go around the saddle bag roll bars and hold up the front of the bumper. I believe the originals are chrome and flattened on top. Does anyone have these animals or know where I could find something like this? Wayne

A Winter statistic say 98% of Canadians say "Oh S### before going in the ditch on a slippery road. The other 2% are from the East coast and they say "Hold my Beer and watch this "

Leveling unit question
Burninator posted a topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I put my 86 Royale on the centre stand and set the front and rear to low, medium or high the compressor pumps the pressure to the correct P.S.I and will hold it without loosing any air. As soon as I switch the key to any other position and back to check the pressure both fron and rear are at zero p.s.i. There is no error message on the display. Is the most likely reason for the sudden loss of air pressure when the keyk is switched off due to a bad solenoid? I have a friend with a spare and we are going to swap them to see what happens. I think that the ability to hold the pressure indefinitely with the key in the accessory position means that there are no plumbing or seal leaks. I hope that it is a solenoid as that will be an easy fix. Has anyone out there had a similar experience? -
I asked because I went out today and got one well almost will know for sure tomorrow by noon .I put a down payment on it to hold it till we work out the financing on it .But if they had any problems I knew you folks in here would know. Ron

Hey Yammer Dan we need a barn raising party. I'm thinking 6 swinging a hammer, 2 running saw, and 2 with shotgun holding neighbors at bay. We could raise a garage for you to hold those first gens all in one day. What a party that would be. Oh yea 10 lb of coffee.:cool10:
