    Headsets???

I am interested in adding headsets to the 07 RSV I got about a month ago. I checked J&M and Yama and the price seems high. I use a shorty type helmet. Can anyone help me? Carl Rainear 07 Venture
  2. Has anyone used or using the Sierra helmentless headsets? If so how are they. Any input would be great. Looking at ordering this week. Thanks in advance for any help. :confused24:
  3. I know some of you guys have done this already so I'm hoping you can give me some help here. I am going to break down and get head sets for the scoot. 84 blonde royale. So it has the intercom built in but I have nothing to plug into. I'm also looking to get a CB as soon as I can find a good one. The J & M headsets look good. Question is what do I need to get besides the headsets. I know I need some more cords and where to they plug in? Wayne
  4. I've read a lot about the pros and cons of headsets and still can't decide whether to buy a set or not. Brenda and I have ridden my '06 RSV for almost 2 seasons without them and have gotten along alright but if they could help hear the radio better or for us to talk to each other, I'd buy a set. I currently wear a half helmet and am looking at an open face while Brenda already has an open face model. I've heard some people say that the intercom is noisy because it is always live. I guess I could buy Mic-Mutes for more $$ but is it really worth it? I see on EBay that you can buy stereo headsets for helmets that don't have a Microphone so that you can listen to the audio. These come with an 1/8" stereo jack. You can then buy the adapter that allows you to plug it into the headset plug on the bike. Anyone tried these? I don't want to spend the money on headsets only to find out that they don't work well at highway speeds or that there's other drawbacks. Any feedback (positive or negative) would be appreciated. Thanks; Rod.
  5. It is about time that I have to think about replacing our headsets. I've been using AirRiders for several years now and though they are OK, they are no better than a basic or mid level J&M headset. So, I started looking and trying to decide what to replace them with. I have seen several people mention the Starcom headsets and was thinking about giving them a try. I have to say though, they may be a good headset but the company is not easy to deal with. They don't seem to know their products very well. The first thing I did was contact them to find out if they have dealers in the USA for their standalone headsets. They sent me a list of dealers and websites and the vast majority of the sites were invalide (page not found) or going to the sites that did work did NOT list the stand alone headsets. I let them know about that and then they told me that they DO sell direct from the UK but that they don't make a standalone headset for the Venture, only for the Goldwing. Now the last time I checked, the Goldwing and Venture use the same headsets and cables. That may have changed with the 1800 Wing, I'm not sure about that. I emailed them back and told them that they were probably turning away business by not knowing that the Venture would use the same headsets as the Goldwing. The response was that I should contact sales@starcom1.com to suggest the development of a new product. NEW PRODUCT??? They HAVE a product and don't know it. That is what I was trying to tell them. Bottom line, they just don't seem to know the application of their own products and I'm tired of going in circles with them. Will probably go back to J&M this time. OH...and one of the initial emails told me that they have worked with clubs to offer discounts. When I emailed back asking about the discount for clubs, I never got a reply.
  6. anybody got a headset or headsets for sale cheap , i want to see if my cb/intercom works before i spend a lot of money on a headset or headsets and to see if i want to listen to Cruise control or not:confused24: [ sore ears or sore ribs ? which one that is the ? ]
  7. I finely got my new Zumo 550. I must say it is one of the best toys I have ever had. (very fun)! I have been trying to do searches here on cell-sets to run off the Zumo. Looks like the Kennedy is kind of a hard to install device and there are problem? Not sure if Buddy got his working right or not yet. I would like some links to place's so my wife and I both can receive calls through our J&M Headsets I also received an 8 GIG SDHC card for all my MP3's They are only $65.00 now. and it works perfect after the FAT32 Format! (made by Tansend) Did I say I loved my new Zumo? Thanks for any help! Jeff

    what headsets to buy?

I just purchased a 2000 RSV last week. This is my first "tour" style bike and I can't tell how excited I am! I absolutley love this bike but I'm full of questions. One thing I want to do is get helmets with headsets so I can communicate with the little lady and listen to the radio.... Can anyone recomend a decent brand/model? I've seen J&M and Chatterbox products on the net but there are so many models to choose from. I don't want buy two sets only to find out that the sound quality/volume is poor or they won't work with the Venture. Any input is welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Jay
  9. Hi Guys I need the Headset cords for the front and passenger helmets that go from the headset to the bike. My bike is a 1990 Yamaha Venture Royale XVZ1300 with the factory radio, headsets are J&M 5pin. Let me know how much $$. James (NomadicBear)
  10. ...a whole different setup that hooks into the helmets headsets on a 1st Gen? Something like J & M's bar mounted CB, XM Radio & GPS and connect an iPod that pipes through the helmets headsets and still utilizes the external speakers? And, are able to talk on their Cell Phone? What have you done? What do you recommend? How has it worked out? Do you have any pics? Wife was considering getting me XM, I want a CB and I want a set of headsets for a pair of Full Face helmets. GPS is optional at this point in time as I can't really get away and use i until the kids get a little older.
  11. if you have 1 or 2 cords that need using, pm me with $$ and ship to Tulsa, OK. I have the headsets with mics, just need the cords.
  12. My wife and I finally got our headsets and here is what happened. Purchased IMC HS-G30 for the 07 RSMV 1. We can both hear the music in both speakers but we can't hear each other. 2. Volume is turned up for the units front and back on the intercom setting. 3. Are we not doing something wrong? We may need to meet with another venture rider in the area and let them plug into my bike to see if it is the headsets or the intercom. Any help is greatly appreciated....Steve
  13. Does anyone have an easy way or some helpful info regarding the installation of headsets without having to cut into the helmet ?? I have a full face CIRUS helmet
  14. Does anyone have experience with the Helmet-Less headsets. Thanks, Dan
  15. Does anyone have any experience with the Chatterbox Headsets with the 5pin systems. Useability? Mount up nice? Sound quality? Dan
  16. I just got a new RSV but still want to wear full face helmets.. Got the wife and myself each new Shoei RF1000 helmets.. Then ordered two J&M fullface headsets to fit the bike's intercom system, but the speakers and mic are thicker than the headsets from my old audioboss system. The instructions in the headsets say to cut holes in the styrofoam liner of the helmet for the speakers and mic. I'm not to sure about doing this. Has anyone done this on an RF1000? OR know of anyone that does J&M headset installs, quick neat and professionally, for not too much, in North or Central Florida? J&M says you can send the helmet to them and they will do it, for a nominal fee, but I'd rather not ship the helmets off for who knows how long.
  17. I have headsets from a Motocomm Audioboss in my helmets from my other bike.. Does anyone know if there is an adaptor available to use them on the RSV? Thanks Al
  18. Hi all, I just bought a 2000 Royal Star Millenium Edition but unfortunately no headsets came with it. I would like to save a few bucks buying used headsets eBay, but was wondering if J&M units from Goldwings would work. Anybody know? I hate to spend another $400 for a new pair of headsets. Message me paulkett@sympatico.ca Thanks PK Slice
  19. Ok I know this has been beat to death but consider it from a different point of view. I have (easy now) a Kawasaki VN800B. It has no on board communication of any type. This is what I want to accomplish: bike to bike and driver to passenger when the wife and I ride the same bike. What are some of the experiences out there with two way radios and headsets. Brands of radios, headsets and place of purchase/price and results would be appreciated. Greying
