  1. I read the previous post about this but have a question. A friend of mine is looking at an 08 RSV at a dealership. The original owner traded in the bike so my friend will be the second owner. Does this matter as long as there is warranty left.
  2. A friend of mine sent this idea to me. He can't use it because he is follically impaired. What do you think? www.twowheelcool.com/products.
  3. All, Hey I just joined the forum today after looking around here for some time. I recently inherited a 1984 Venture Royal from a friend and am looking to fix her up. She does run but my friend laid her down and i have some fairing work to do. As he did not have great records, i wanted to get her up and running the right way so am asking if you have a recommended check list of things I look for, fluids to replace, and other items to check. I am going to have a local mech come over and check it out as well but also wanted to get some direction from the experts. I really look forward to learning from you and sharing the successes of getting this bike road ready. Since she only has about 32K miles, I figure there is a lot of life left. Any help and direction would be appreciated, as would pictures as I am very new to all of this and want to make sure I get it right. Thanks in advance, Mark
  4. Common Sense for Sale Order an extra for your closest friend! I got yours Boomer!
  5. My friend is in need of help maybe you guys can help her out. This is what she posted. "HELP! I cannot find a 2010 studded tank panel with a pouch..I have searched the web..I know my biker friends will find it! Everyone I find is not for a 2010 Heritage Softail... " Thank you in advance.
  6. Steamer and RocknRobin "sold it, sold it, sold it" and we "bought it, bought it, bought it." It was a bit of a sloppy, snowy 13 hour day, but when all was said and done we really didn't give hoot about what the weather had been. We got home with two new additions; one a bike the other a friend. What more could you ask for? However the next time we do a trip thata way, it will be sunny and on just 2 wheels. Let the Ventures begin....
  7. So far we have a total of 11 interested. If I can get a total of 20 orders the cost would be $19.50 each and that would include me buying the mailer and also the postage. I myself would be willing to buy 3 extra making it a total of 14, for those who might be interested after the order is placed. Of the 11 interested maybe there might be 6 people that would buy 2, being that this is a pretty darn good price and might want to give one to a friend for say a Birthday or maybe a Christmas present or maybe your friend did you a favor and you just want to say thank you. For anyone buying two the 2nd would be $17.00 for 2.50 less on the mailer and shipping. So please indicate if you, the below, want 1 for 19.50 and if you would be interested in ordering 2. In your reply I need your Name Mailing Address. If the total confirmed order count is less than 20, I will then ask for a new price for that order and get back to each that order. friesman1 MasterGuns Flyinfool dingy yamtom Wizard765 camos KIC gscbertrand Indiana Hayseed PB&J .
  8. A hunter and his friend were sitting in a tall tower stand near Highway 7 early one cold December morning. Suddenly, a huge buck walked out over the corn they had spread in the low shrubs. The buck was magnificent, a once in a lifetime animal. His rack was huge. The hunter's hand shook as his mind was already counting the Boone and Crockett points. Moving quickly, the hunter carefully aimed the Leopold scope on his ..300 Win Mag at the unsuspecting buck. As he was about to squeeze the trigger on this deer of a lifetime, his friend alerted him to a funeral procession passing slowly down Highway 7. The hunter pulled away from the gunstock, set the rifle down, took off his hat, bowed his head and then closed his eyes in prayer. His friend was stunned, "Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen you do. You actually let that trophy deer go to pay respects to a passing funeral procession. You are indeed the kindest man I have ever known, and I feel lucky to call you a friend." The hunter shrugged. "Yeah, well, we were married for 37 years."
  9. Kreg was kind enough to offer up his place and oh so willing assistance to do a little wrenching, and hammering on the new FJR. It was cold! Thanks my friend!

  12. A friend of mine wants a fairly new Venture. If you know anyone in the Mobile area please let me know. Thanks tew47
  13. A friend of mine who retired from the salt mine was chatting with a friend of his about bikes. He knew that they were searching for a newer bike. Bruce gave Barry and Donna my telephone #, and contact was made. Well, they came over Wednesday night, had a look at our 04 midnite, and fell in love. Took it for a spin, had a friend check it out and came back with big grins on both their faces. They called after dinner tonight, and said that they were waiting word from the bank and wanted the bike. They currently have a 1st gen...it's an 85, and it has over 100,000 on the odometer. So, they wanted another, newer Venture. We had a nice visit....it was great trading "Venture" stories. I guess to make a long story short, looks like Beth and I are soon to be bikeless. I bought my first bike when I was 12 years old, a 50cc Bombardier, and except for a hiatus while raising my boys, riding has been a passion for me. But, in all honesty, I have lost my lust for this sport.....truthfully, the accidents this year have really hit home, and probably have had some impact on my decision. Once I get on the bike, it's just like home, the problem was getting my leg swung over the seat in the first place. We have decided to try to "look in to our future" so to speak. I'm tired of the cold and winter, and we have a desire to retire on the water somewhere warm.....so we have purchased a Bayfield 29C sailboat. We will try this out, and if Beth can handle the "motion of the ocean", we will sell the 29 footer and move up to a larger sailboat closer to retirement, outfit it the way we want to, and then, as the saying goes......sail off into the sunset. We have made a lot of great friends here on this site, and we will miss each and every one of you. We do plan on continuing to attend local meets and eats...er greets when my work schedule allows us to do so. I want to say THANK YOU to all who have helped me through their posts working on my bikes, who have actually worked on my bike, who have directed me to sites to purchase new safety chrome and other accessories for our ride. It would have been so much harder to dress the bike up, have the confidence in it's mechanical abilities to just get up and go for weeks at a time. Before finding you all and this site, I couldn't do most of the repairs/updates that I've done over time on both my 96 royal star and the Venture. Changing out a clutch slave cylinder, doing the brakes, adding lighting....the list goes on. I'm still going to pop in on the site now and then to check up on everyone...wouldn't miss the enjoyment of reading all the posts and updates here on the site, seeing who is getting into "trouble" with the mods..., what's new in everyone's lives. Anyways, good luck to you all....Gary and Mary, you're just a half hour away, we'll drop in now and then, Monty, good luck with the boys overseas, Freebird, keep fighting the big "C", you are going to completely beat the beast, Ponch, keep up the good fight, we're all in your corner pushing you on, Yammer Dan...buddy, you keep the site interesting!!!! IBents, we'll see you at the wine party and get you out for a sail next summer I hope. Carbon One, keep those ideas rolling and producing accessories for these great rides. Squidley, Lonna, Kregerdoodle, Gunboat and the rest of the Houston gang, we had a blast down there last year, we'll not soon forget that ride! A ton of great memories, awesome times, great friends! gunk
  14. My co-worker and friend and brother in the Lord, Philip Howard, is need of prayer for his family. His son Ben Howard (20 yrs old) wrecked his four wheeler ATV yesterday afternoon and had to be flown to the UK hospital in Lexington,KY. He is in critical shape and may be paralyzed from his chest down. He is to be operated on tomorrow. The young man is a good Christian boy and that is very good. He is in need of prayer and please remember his family also. This is very devastating news to me and all those I work with. We are a close nit group that work together at the State Highway Department. We spend many hours working together and watching out for one another as we do a dangerous job, especially through the winter months. Please remember us all in prayer as we all pray for Ben and his family. Fuzzy
  15. I have a friend here in Perth looking for a fuel tank for a 1990 Kawasaki Zephyr 550......... Can anyone tell me the best places to look in the states?????
  16. Happy Birthday Don!!!! Many many more my Friend!!!
  17. After a long discussion with Black Owl about what "Poke in the Pines" really is & where it is & that we are invited to attend even if we pronounce it "Pork in the Pines" , I have decided that I'm going to try & get back there for Labor Day weekend. I will be leaving the Scottsbluff, NE area Thursday morning the 1st of Sept. I will most likely pick up Babe at the Minneapolis airport the 2nd & drive on to the rally. Anybody from this general area or west of Cheyenne, WY/Scottsbluff, NE headed to the "Pork in the Pines" I would sure like to hook up with you & ride to the rally together. That's about half the fun is getting to the rally with an old friend or a new one. Can't get Phoneman1981 to shake loose to go, so far. Let's get a group from here in the Rocky Mtn area to go to Black Owls party..!!!! C Ya, Parolman46 CELL = NINE SEVEN 0- THREE NINE SIX - SIXTEEN 0 SEVEN
  18. Howdy all, I have a friend with an 87 Venture. He loves his bike. I am hoping to find a salvage yard or some place to get a few things for him. He is missing some relay that is located on the upper right hand of his dash. He has to put a paperclip in the socket for it or his turn signals won't work - but if he leaves it in his battery will go dead. He is also having problems with his ignition switch - it will start but the headlight will not come back on after cranking. I would like to purchase these items for him and help him install them so we can ride together without worry of him breaking down. Anyone know of a Yamaha graveyard or something where I can acquire these parts? I have tried the local Yamaha dealer here in Omaha and they are no help. I rode to Cripple Creek, CO for the veterans rally and a vet who served in Viet-Nam with my father that rides a Venture told me about this forum. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance and keep em' on 2 wheels, Dustin Fanning spunner@spunner.com
  19. I got this from a facebook friend. BTW, you will need one of those plastic bucket side car.
  20. Friend (100 miles away) who has a V-Star (1100 I think) and has been running premium exclusively. He mostly rides it to commute (5 miles, maybe one way) back and forth to work. Talked to him tonight and he is complaining that he is having to jump it off and it runs like crap! The AutoZone battery is only a year old and he has not been using the tender that he has. I told him that with his short trips the bike cannot recharge completely, so he is gonna start using the tender. I wonder if the low battery could be contributing to the rough running? My main question for you V-Star riders, is what grade gas do you use? My friend tells me that the owners manual says "86 octane or higher". I would guess that 87 would work, but then again I don't have a V-Star.
  21. my left saddlebag is in a bind at the rear, it won't open. any suggestins as to how to get it open. I'm in Colorado and my jacket and rainsuit are in there. I push down on the latch as hard as i can while my friend tried to get it aligned. we're stumped. any help would be greately appreciated.
  22. Check out this car combo built by a long time good friend of mine. He has taken hundreds of healys from all over the US and various places in Canada and fully rebuilt them. Not all with a V12 though, this one is his personal car. I believe it is supposed to produce between 80 and 90 HP/cyl http://www.britishv8.org/Other/MartinJansen.htm
  23. well a man was mowing the grass here today and came up to me and said what kind of motorcycle is under that cover? i pulled off the cover and showed him the venture, he said start it up and i did i explained that a friend of mine eusa1 mike drove it back there and shes a runner. i let him pick at it. of course the little cracks and the great niece painting the trunk brown took some of the value off of it i showed him the receipt for tires batttery and brakes and exhaust. i tould him i cant let him take it for a ride as he had no MC endorsement and last time he was on a bike was 15 years ago. he said it pops and sputters at idle i explained that my friend mike said it could be dropping a cyclinder but he did take it up to around 75mph and never took it out of 3rd gear. well after all the looky here and looky there he came at me with a $700 offer i thought about it and said let me think it over. as its not in that bad a shape for an old girl even mike usa1 said she can be fixed maybe carbs and plug wires and seafoam the crap out of it. and well since its up and stored im thinking no.
  24. A friend took these pics and posted them on FB. He took them at our local Wally World. I wish I had actually been there to see it. Don't yet know where the guy is from.
  25. i want to thank all that attended for making this meet a total success. i knew going in that this would be my last meet, and it was the best one ever. had many surprises like b2 dad bringing aussie annie, and quick step. jason, b2 mom and dads son, who is a b2 bomber pilot, and one of my hero's, also showed up with his family. my good friend la was there and looking great. i could go on and on about all my close friends that were present, and many new folks i met. you all made this weekend one of my best ever, and for that i thank you. i hope everyone had a great time, and the weather was great. yes i trailered my bike, and the trailer is now for sale. what a ride it has been. bill
