  1. Stratcat

    New Toy

Similar to here for my video passion, I have found a forum of some great folks and DIY enterpernuers. So when we get a new toy we like to show them off. One of the fellows on the video forum started building tripod dollies out of his woodworking business and we have beeen wanting one for some time but anything Pro Video is BIG bucks. So we bought one from this gentlemen and were emailing him to tell him how happy we were with it, he ask us to put together a video of some of our favorite shots using it for him. He also has a cool video on his site www.eazydolly.com So while not motorycycle related I threw this together last night and thought I would share it here as there are some pretty smooth cool shots in it. This things works smmoth as butter and is about a 1/3 the cost of pro models. I see some cool shots of the bikes all cleaned up and shining with this thing this summer! Like the jack adpaters and other widgets builders here you gotta love the skill kindess and sharing of those that can for us others here on these forums. So here goes us having fun with the new toys. PS: And again these are HD videos so once it starts if you click on the four arrows in the lower right corner you can watch them full screen at full 720P HD resolution. If you have a slow connection once it starts click the HD ON to trun off HD and it should stream a little better. [ame=http://www.vimeo.com/3218683]Eazy Dolly Test Shots Reel on Vimeo[/ame]
  2. How do you post a web page on here so that if you click on the link then it will display the page that I am referring to? I tried to do this earlier, but when you click the link it says that the web page can't be displayed. Thanks hairman
  3. First let me say, this is NOT meant to be hitting anybody up for donations. While donations of any amount are always appreciated, they are not required in any way. The purpose of this post is to clear up any confusion about HOW you may donate if you so choose. There are a couple of ways you can donate to VentureRider.org. The money is used to help defray my costs of running this site. Software licensing fees, hosting fees, etc. The simplest and most basic way to donate is to click on the "Donate" button on the far right of the upper menu bar at the home page or here on the forum. When you click that button, you will get a page where you can enter whatever amount you choose to donate and then click the "PayPal Donate" button and it will take you to a PayPal login page where you can complete your transaction. You do not need a PayPal account to use this method. You will see a place to login to your PayPal account if you have one but if not, you will see a link to the left of that that says "Don't have a PayPal account" and if you click on that, you can still donate using any major credit card or an e-check. The second way you can donate is through "Subscriptions". You will find this method in the User CP or via the "donate" button in the right menu. In the User CP, just scroll down until you see the link for "Paid Subscriptions" in the left menu. Click on that and you will see several options from which to choose. There are recurring monthly options as low as $2.00 per month. The monthly subscriptions are automatically deducted from your credit card or account each month. There are also options for yearly subscriptions. These are NOT automatically recurring and you will simply get an email the following year reminding you that it has been a year. Again, this option uses PayPal as the payment processor. The third option is the old fashioned way. Simply send me a PM or an email if you wish to donate via a check or money order and I'll send you my address. Again, you are NOT required to donate in order to participate in this club. Those who donate and those who don't have the same full access to everything that we offer. I fully understand that money is tight for many people and I would NEVER want anybody to donate if they are not financially able to do so. For those who can, it is always MUCH appreciated but for those who can't, I consider your participation here a donation in itself and thank you for it.
  4. The last couple days I've noticed that I can't go "back" to a forum... neither the mouse or the "alt back arrow" work under Netscape...??? I have to scroll to the top of the page and click on the directory tree. Strange that the "back button" works fine if I click on one of the "selected" member pictures at the top of the main forum... It works fine with IE but I tend to stay away from that...
  5. For all you military and airplane/ship buffs, there's some really great shots contained in each of these three links. Unbelievable photos. Click on all 3. These are great shots. http://www.tom-phillips.info/images/cool.pics.military.htm http://www.tom-phillips.info/images/cool.pics.military.2.htm http://www.tom-phillips.info/images/cool.pics.military.3.htm
  6. Some of you may have noticed that I've added a banner at the upper right of the site that says "VentureRider St. Jude Auctions". If you click on that banner, it will take you to a new classified's section that is dedicated to the items being auctioned off to benefit St. Judes. Those banners are random so you may have to refresh the page a couple of times to see it. You can also just click on the "Classifieds" link in the upper menu bar. I also want to thank the ever wonderful DragonRider for his continued efforts in regards to this cause.
  7. I've posted on this twice before but today learned something new. First, I bought one of the edsets adapters that let you plug in earbuds with the intercom. I used a pair of earbuds my wife bought at walmart for $14.00. The adapter and earbuds are great except for the click of the engine I hear in the earbuds. I bought a pair of koss earbuds at walmart for $24.00 and I didn't get any engine noise in them so I bought a second adapter so my wife can use earbuds with the intercom also. Today I received the second adpater and plugged in the koss earbuds. Music is great until I started the engine and then click, click, click. I noticed the intercom volume was at 16 so I turned the volume down to zero and guess what? No engine clicking in the earbuds. If you want to listen to music only turn the intercom volume down and there is no noise. This brings another question to mind. If I have the mike mute installed will I get the engine noise when the intercom is set to 16 since the intercom doesn't work until you press the talk button?

  10. Someone here mentioned a condition called "Dry Hub". Can anyone provide more details...maybe a fix? I've got an 08 RSV. Without the bike running, when I roll the bike forward or backward, there is a loud click coming from the rear axle. What's bad is I can hear the click with the bike running, all the way up to about 40 MPH. I tried turning up the radio, but.... Is this something that would be covered under waranty? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  11. I MEET A FEW VR MEMBERS THERE AND WE HAD A GREAT TIME. 13. When I turn on the key, the gas pump cycles and the speedo does its thing...and the headlight comes on (but I notice NOT the running lights). When I push the starter button, theres a click sound from down, left below/behind the battery. (Is there a solenoid down there?) The battery is showing about 12.8 volts. Bike has been sitting for four or five days. Any ideas? (Wiring to passing lamps was recently 'fixed'.....and the bike ran fine last weekend....all day Saturday. Has sat out (covered) in rain since then.) Thoughts? Really want to solve this one, with the last big weekend (with perfect forecast) coming up this Thanksgiving weekend. Any ideas greatly appreciated. (Going to put the battery on the charger now as a start.) Michael
  14. Or actually, North East... For those along the flight paths, you may have a chance to see some of these balloons in the Gordon Bennett Race and the Americas Challenge. www.balloonfiesta.com Click on Gas Balloons and click on the tracking maps. Two of the balloons are over the Texas Panhandle near me, in what we lovingly call 'Fly over country'. (no pun intended!) Cross posted on several websites....good luck!
  15. Let me first say that I realize this forum is mainly dedicated to the Venture and Tour Deluxe. That said, I posted on a board for VStar 650s and have not gotten any response. And with the vast knowledge here, I am hoping some one can offer some insight. I rode the VStar 650 the other day and when coasting into the driveway (left turn), heard a clicking sound from the rear tire. I put the bike up on the lift and spun the tire. I could hear what I think is the wheel bearings rattleing, as if they are dry, but no clicking. Drove the bike around the neighborhood and never heard the clicking. Today I rode this bike to work. Once there, I circled around the parking lot, pulled in the clutch and coasted a left turn or 2. No clicking heard. When I returned home, and did my normal coast into the driveway, I initially heard no noise, but then leaned a little more and "click, click, click." The final drive fluid was changed about 350 miles ago with Castrol Syntech. Rear tire was changed 2000 miles ago by a trusted dealer (known this dealer most my life and good friend of my dad's) and I was told the splines were greased. My thought is I need to replace the rear wheel bearings and grease everything up while it is apart. Any other thoughts? Thanks Bronson
  16. After a summer break, I'm resuming my biweekly column for http://www.thetentacle.com , a local (central MD) commentary site, which is not motorcycle related. My topics are either motorcycling or math education. Go to http://www.thetentacle.com/author.cfm?MyAuthor=52 and click on "The Joy of Selling." For background on this piece, click on "Christmas in the Summertime." Nick Diaz Middletown, MD
  17. I am on their website, click on the contact link and nothing comes up. Anyone have their phone #? Thanks. Jerry.
  18. This one is really rampant right now. I've personally received the email almost every day for the past week. If you receive it, do NOT click on any of the links to open them. http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/fbi-facebook.asp

  20. For my latest ruminations, with which Venture riders will identify, click on the following: http://www.thetentacle.com/author.cfm?MyAuthor=52 . Then click on "Christmas in the Summertime." As I've mentioned before, my columns for http://www.thetentacle.com are published every other Tuesday, and today is such a Tuesday. This site is not a motorcycle site, but I have the privilege of being allowed to write about motorcycling and math education (and today I managed to combine the two). Nick Diaz Middletown, MD
