  1. Santa's sleigh, well Grandpa/Sleeperhawk's pickup, is all loaded up and ready to make the Christmas journey to a little town in Alabama!!! :sleigh: There is even a slight hint of a little snow on Christmas day! Merry Christmas Everyone! Have a wonderful and safe holiday!!! We are looking forward to another year of riding and being with our VR family!!!!
  2. One of my best friends passed away suddenly Thursday. He was told only 2 weeks ago that he had lung and brain cancer while being treated for a bad cold at the hospital. The doctor told him that he may have up to a year left but only made 2 weeks. The bummer was no one knew but his wife, he denied anything was wrong and kept saying he hoped the cold would clear up so he could stop coughing. His way of dealing I guess. It was bad to have to say goodbye while he was lying in the casket. Makes one realize just how quick any of us could be gone. He was 73 and only retired 6 months ago. I tried for years to get him to quit so we could do some traveling in our RVs but he always said he would when he got more bills paid off. All I can say is if you can quit and enjoy life do it while you can still enjoy it, I know I am, my house is going on the market this spring and as soon as it sells you will see the wife and I passing you somewhere on the highway while we are visiting all the states. That is my goal anyway. Sorry for the rant but needed to vent a little. Merry Christmas to you all and I hope we all see the new year.
  3. Just wanted to share our Christmas card with my fellow VentureRiders.
  4. Twas the night before Christmas when all through the garages Not a motorcycle was rumbling, except for Santa Claus' The leather was hung in the closet with care In hopes that nice weather, soon would be there Our bikes were all nestled snug in their covers With visions of blacktop and burning up rubber With momma in her bandana and I in my skull cap We had settled down for a long winters nap When:Venture: out on the lawn, arose such a rumble I sprang fron the bed as I started to grumble When what to my wondering eyes should appear Was a pack of motorcycles, with riders and gear, With one old driver so lively and quick I knew in amoment it must be biker St. Nick He was dressed alll in leather, from from his head to his foot His clothes were all tarnished with bugs and road soot A bundle of chrome he had flung on his back Down the chimney he came, carrying a big red sack He spoke not a word but went straight to his work As he filled all the riding boots, then turned with a jerk, And laying a finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod,up the chimney he rose He sprang to his motorcycle,to his team gave a sign As they cracked there throttles and got into line, Now Honda,Now Harley,Now Triumph, and Indian On Kawi,On Suzuki,On Yamaha Venture and Victory, But I heard him exclaim as he roared out of sight Keep the rubber side down and have a good ride Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPLY NEW YEAR TO ALL MY VENTURE RIDER MENBERS
  5. If you have kids or grandkids or you're a big kid...........................Here's the NORAD link to tracking that jolly old elf so you know when he's in you're neck of the world. http://www.noradsanta.org Merry Christmas Margaret
  6. To all of you, Haylie and I want to say Merry Christmas and thank you! So many of you sent me notes and helped us out I just couldn’t answer everyone and thank everyone. You all brought a smile to my face along with tears and I will never forget! My brother does a lot of traveling and he used some of his frequent flyer miles to book Haylie and I a trip home to my family in Ohio for Christmas. Tho we are getting excited about it, its bitter sweet in a way : ( Even tho my future is kind of “unknown” at this time, I am doing whatever I have to for us as best I can. It is starting to slowly get a little easier settling into being alone but all the emotional trash is still raw. I am having to make some tough decisions as I go along because of some bad choices someone else is making. My heart truly aches for him because he is blinded to how it will all end up coming back to hurt him some day. Please keep him in your prayers. I am truly trying to forgive and treat him as best I can, but believe me some days I lose my temper. Legalities are started and we will see where that goes after the 1st of the year : ( Thanks to you all Christmas will be better than I anticipated for Haylie, I didn’t want it to be any worse for her than it had to be. The way I see it, the past cpl years have been pretty tough for us and they can only get better now. I owe a lot to God and my faith, He has never failed me thru it all I hope all of you have a wonderful Christmas full of love and family and blessings! You all have a special place in my heart!
  7. Found this the other day and thought it was cool. http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/camera-lens-mug/ merry christmas all DAvid
  8. Is there anyone in Athelstane, WI that can look at a 99 Venture for me? The fellow selling it seems to have issues getting pics uploaded, plus there is no substitute for someone to actually get there and have a look. We have a few days until the fellow gets back in town for Christmas, so theres no rush. Brian
  9. Just wanted to wish everyone to have a Very Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year from Wisconsin. I hope Santa will bring you everything you wanted for X-MAS and more. Keith & Bonnie Bikenut & Choconut:big-grin-emoticon:
  10. This is a wish for all Merry Christmas to all! http://ak.imgag.com/imgag/product/preview/flash/pdShell.swf?ihost=http://ak.imgag.com/imgag&brandldrPath=/product/full/el/&cardNum=/product/full/ap/3173936/graphic1 :santa:Dray
  11. I rode in a Christmas Charity Ride this morning, with about 650 other biker's ...................and look what Father Christmas gave me "Best Decorated Bike" [2 years in a row] I was called a mobile tree by someone
  12. Christmas lights!!! Here's ours and Motorcycle Tom's place 2 doors down!
  13. My daughter had friends over who damaged the string of C3 LED Christmas lights we strung on the back patio. I've replaced them and want to re-purpose the damaged set for holiday illumination of my bike. I want to wrap the luggage rack behind the passenger seat (note: I have an RSTD). Is it easy to run these LED Christmas lights from the bike? Or is there some current monkeying that I need to do? Ideally, I'd wire them into a Powerlet plug, and run them from the jack. Dave
  14. Sorry to break it to everyone, but Christmas is cancelled this year....Santa died laughing when I told him a few of you had been good!
  15. Im not a story teller nor good with words. In short Brad and Lonna,(Squidley and Sweetnothing) came over for the weekend..I knew they were coming but should have known, knowing Brad and Lonna, that they had more of a reason than "just getting away from the rat race". Thanks to both for helping with a few things I have been unable to do the last few weeks, simple things like not being able to get the Christmas Tree down, Cutting some limbs off of a big oak tree in front, putting light bulbs in where they had been burned out the last few weeks. I want to thank them for everything they did but most of all bringing the Christmas Spirit to our home this year. We went to Johnson City last night to see the lights there..Beautiful site if you have never seen it. Debby couldnt last long because of her health problems but She enjoyed it. Brad,Lonna after you left Debby started looking at the decorations and like I figured She put up the blue lights on the tree and has been looking at the tree most of this afternoon. I was thinking afterwards....sometimes I do things just to help another and never thought about it much but as I was sitting here after they left I remembered I have always heard if you give you will receive 10 fold.....I have. An early Christmas greeting for all..Have a Merry Christmas!
  16. I am asking Santa for a clock to go on my handlebars. What are you and your Venture hoping for this Christmas? :sleigh:
  17. This may be politically incorrect, but here it goes: Get your stamped card ready and hold it until two weeks before Christmas and the mail it. THIS ONE IS FOR A GOOD CAUSE..PLEASE PASS IT ON Pass this on to your church, co-workers, family, and friends. What do you have to lose but 44 cents, what do you have to gain ----------- more than you will ever know. What a clever idea! Yes, Christmas cards. This is coming early so that you can get ready to include an important address to your list. Want to have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year. As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world. Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it. Here's the address, just don't be rude or crude: ACLU 125 Broad Street , 18th Floor New York , NY 10004 Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend 44 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a " Holiday Tree". It's always been called a CHRISTMAS TREE! And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!! For those of you who aren't aware of them, the ACLU, (the American Civil Liberties Union) is the one suing the U.S. Government to take God, Christmas or anything religious away from us. They represent the atheists and others in this war. Help put Christ back in Christmas!
  18. 21. I thought this was worth sharing and pulled it off another site… Please don't drink and drive. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2mf8DtWWd8]YouTube- TAC 2009 Christmas Campaign TV ad - 20 Anniversary retrospective montage "Everybody Hurts"[/ame]
  22. With all the intelligent people on here who posted insatallation instructions, I thank you. I feel confident to take this project on. The advise I need is Halogen or sealed beam. What is the major difference. Also, I plan on running a fuse box. If I do this, should I still use a relay. I received a gift card for christmas and plan on getting them this week, but I want to check the prices at the bike show first. Thanks to everyone who contributes and saves me money at the stealership.
  23. Here is a photo of my granddaughter with her first motorcycle at Christmas, this was the first time she ever stood still or quiet long enough to really learn anything, she must have really wanted to ride it, as she stood there for nearly ten minutes while granddaddy taught her the very, very basics. This one will travel 2.5 mph and we can barely keep up with her. The laughter, oh the laughter of a girl with her first bike. Priceless! We won't encourage her to ride barefoot but, it was just too hot for that Fleece Christmas suit and shoes that day; totally strange weather in the south this winter. Happy Trails.
  24. A couple pics of the newest grandson....was awesome to finally get to see and hold him ! Grandma had to have a picture of him in his new camo hat she got him... Got to give fair time to the granddaughter also.....she turned 3 the day after Christmas so i finally got to be there for her birthday...as u can see she has chocolate cake on her mouth!! and here is a pic of the whole famn damily
