  1. Last nite at Girbralter Trade Center in Mount Clemens I saw a all black Venture. I've seen it there before and even put a Venturerider card on it hoping to get a new member. Is it anybody from here?
  2. I posted about this new dealer back in Dec. 08. I liked the place and its people. I drove by today and saw a Going our of Business sign up. I have a $50 gift card so I need to go by there before it's too late. This dealership was only 2-3 miles from my home which was nice. Colgan Powersports. Manassas Va.
  3. Don just got a Zumo 660 and I downloaded music to it because it said I could. Then the GPS wouldn't stay on. Everytime I would turn it on to see if the music was ok, it would turn itself off in 5 seconds. Frustrating!! So then I deleted all but 2 songs and now it stays on and plays those 2 songs. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't download more songs. I finally downloaded the manual to my computer (since NOTHING comes with a manual anymore). It MENTIONS a 4 GB micro SD card. ???? So why in the world does it NOT come with one??? Just another dang accessory you have to buy I guess. So now my question is: Can I just go to Wal Mart or Radio Shack and buy a "card" or does it have to be the one from Garmin, which by the way costs $33 (plus shipping I am sure) and says takes 2-3 weeks before it will ship? Any ideas or suggestions? Patti
  4. Here is your daily steal. not a bad price. New SanDisk 8GB MicroSD Card Hi-Speed Class 4 http://www.dailysteals.com/ only 8 hrs left:big-grin-emoticon:
  5. I was sitting here doing my income taxes when I got a call from PayPal. They said that somebody in Germany had tried to use my PayPal debit card this morning for about $75.00 worth of Netflix movies. They caught it and declined the charge. So, now I have canceled that card and ordered a new one. What a world it is that we live in today. I DID finally get my taxes finished and filed. That could have gone better also.
  6. Thought I would share this with you, it is the original 1998 Venture Press Pack presumably released to accompany the launch of the bike for 1999. Dont know if anyone has put this on the site but here goes. RSV2 is the booklet. RSV2a is the remaining photographs and graphic card that held a disk with the photographs on. The final one is the Press Pack Cover. I dont think Yamaha will mind. Neil (oldminer).
  7. For several years, a man had been having an affair with an Italian woman. One night, she confided to him that she was pregnant. Not wanting to ruin his reputation or his marriage, he paid her a large sum of money if she would go back to Italy to secretly have the child. Also, if she stayed in Italy to raise the child, he would provide child support until the child turned 18. She agreed, but asked how he would know when the baby was born. To keep it discrete, he told her to simply mail him a post card, and write 'Spaghetti' on the back when the child was born. He would then arrange for the Child Support Payments to begin. One day, about 8 months later, he came home to his confused wife. 'Honey,' she said, 'You received a very strange post card today.' 'Oh, just give it to me and I'll explain it later.' he said.. The wife obeyed and watched as her husband read the card, turned white, and fainted. On the card was written: Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti, Spaghetti. Three with meatballs, two without. Send extra sauce.

  9. I'm just wondering if anyone here has any experience with this company's rear shock. I was searching around on the Internet and found that this company builds a shock that fits the Royal Star Venture. I wrote there U.S. dealer, Dave Quinn motorcycles in Conn. and promptly received this reply. Happy to help. Hagon makes shocks for 98 and up 1300 Venture Star with VIN prefix XVZ13TF or 4XY. Currently out of stock, can easily get, 2-4 weeks. Cost is $394 plus UPS at cost to you which will vary depending on your zip code. 'Off-the-shelf' shocks are assembled for an average rider- there is enough adjustability in the stock shock to cover a wide range of loading. It would be useful to know your weight, and whether you carry passengers (% of time? Passenger weight?) or luggage (saddlebags? tank bag? top box? loading in each?) and what your maximum loading (passenger/luggage) is likely to be. If Hagons determine that your loading exceeds the design parameters of the shock, they can supply to special order a shock with an uprated spring. Conversely if you are very light, Hagons can for some shocks supply a lighter spring. Softer and harder springs are available as custom built units only for $464 and will take between 4 and 6 weeks to get here. Shocks are also available to special order with a remote hydraulic spring preload adjuster- $554 for a stock spec shock and $624 for an upgraded spring model. Hagon monoshocks are fully rebuildable and feature straight weight spring with adjustable spring preload (threaded manual or hydraulic remote adjuster), adjustable 15 position LINKED compression and rebound damping (one adjuster for both) and a two year unlimited mileage warranty against failure due to manufacturing defect. Bent shocks due to accident, impact, dropped bike, improper installation or owner malfunction will not be warranteed. Shocks are not returnable once they have been fitted. All adjusting tools are included with the shock. You can see representative Hagon monoshocks online at http://www.davequinnmotorcycles.com/cgi-bin/webc.cgi/HAGON_MONOSHOCKS.html Shipping and insurance will be charged at cost and will vary depending on what you order, your zip code and any fuel surcharges in effect on the day your order ships. We ship by UPS in the continental USA, by Priority Mail to AK and HI and by US Mail Express International outside of the USA. For special orders we ask for a 50% good faith deposit when Hagons accept the order, with the balance due when we ship. Please note- Special orders are not returnable unless found to be defective. If you're interested in ordering, we accept VISA & Mastercard; we need: -name as it appears on your credit card -daytime phone number -billing address for the card -ship-to address if different -card number -expiration date. Call or Fax if you are uneasy about emailing credit card details. Let me know if I can offer you any other information. All the best, Maggie Dave Quinn Motorcycles 335 Litchfield Tpke Bethany CT 06524 USA 203-393-2651 FAX 203-393-1725 9-5 M T Th F 9-12 Sa dqmcs@earthlink.net www.davequinnmotorcycles.com 554.00 with a remote hydraulic adjuster sounds pretty good? 11. Just wanted to share our Christmas card with my fellow VentureRiders.
  12. Not sure if this has been posted yet but here is a link to send a free "thank you" card to our troops (sponsored by Xerox), please take a minute to let them know we appreciate their service: http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1024.html
  13. Uechi Kid just sent this out to some friends on his distribution list (thanks, Rich) - thought I might share with all of you. I just checked my wallet - and couple of my cards do have that symbol on a card as discussed in this video. What will be thought of next? . What I don't understand is how products like this can be made - or sold. http://www.wreg.com/news/wreg-electronic-pickpocketing-goes-viral,0,1599870.story
  14. If you use credit cards, check with your companies and see if they offer calling you as part of their fraud protection service. I got a text message this evening from the card company I use the most. Some lowlife was in New York trying to buy $400 worth of tickets on the Long Island RR with my credit card. Now I will have to go through the hassle of changing some of my stuff around, but at least they caught it before it got worse. I did not call back about the text message until I had verified the number as actually being from the company. I am glad they offer the service and wish I could catch the so and so that stole my number. Hope none of you ever need this info.
  15. Beth and I got up at 5am this morning and got out of here at 6am on our way to Big Bend with Tom and crew. Well we stopped in a little town called Robert, La just before getting on I-12 to fill up, left there and next stop was in Crowley, La. Went to fill up and NO WALLET. Wallet is gone with DL, credit cards, over $100 in cash, commision card for police dept. and reserve deputy, and I think my SS card (yea I know shouldn't even be carrying it, but have since a teenager). Had to come back to file a report with the sheriff's office and back home to look up credit card info so we could cancel them. Called equifax and put block on credit with the big 3. Don't know what to do next. This just ruined a perfectly good weekend with family members and I am really PO'd. Been really looking forward to this trip and now all I got is a big headache. :crying: The only good thing was had a good test on pulling the Timeout camper fully loaded. It did great. Pulled easy and electric brake worked good. Gas mileage didn't look bad either tho haven't figured it up yet. Oh well hope everyone else weekend is better.
  16. This may be politically incorrect, but here it goes: Get your stamped card ready and hold it until two weeks before Christmas and the mail it. THIS ONE IS FOR A GOOD CAUSE..PLEASE PASS IT ON Pass this on to your church, co-workers, family, and friends. What do you have to lose but 44 cents, what do you have to gain ----------- more than you will ever know. What a clever idea! Yes, Christmas cards. This is coming early so that you can get ready to include an important address to your list. Want to have some fun this CHRISTMAS? Send the ACLU a CHRISTMAS CARD this year. As they are working so very hard to get rid of the CHRISTMAS part of this holiday, we should all send them a nice, card to brighten up their dark, sad, little world. Make sure it says "Merry Christmas" on it. Here's the address, just don't be rude or crude: ACLU 125 Broad Street , 18th Floor New York , NY 10004 Two tons of Christmas cards would freeze their operations because they wouldn't know if any were regular mail containing contributions. So spend 44 cents and tell the ACLU to leave Christmas alone. Also tell them that there is no such thing as a " Holiday Tree". It's always been called a CHRISTMAS TREE! And pass this on to your email lists. We really want to communicate with the ACLU! They really DESERVE us!! For those of you who aren't aware of them, the ACLU, (the American Civil Liberties Union) is the one suing the U.S. Government to take God, Christmas or anything religious away from us. They represent the atheists and others in this war. Help put Christ back in Christmas!
  17. A man, about to tee off felt a tap on his shoulder and a guy hands him a card that read "I am a deaf mute. May I play through, please?" The 1st man angrily gave the card back, and communicated that "No, he may NOT play through, and that his handicap did not give him such a right." The first man whacked the ball onto the green and left to finish the hole. Just as he was about to put the ball into the hole he was hit in the head with a golf ball, laying him out cold. When he came to a few minutes later, he looked around and saw the deaf mute golfer sternly looking at him, one hand on his hip, the other hand holding up 4 fingers.
  18. Never saw this one before. Have to prove the person sending me the money is not sending it for terrorist reasons. And $300.00 will do it. 19. I have Garmin Zumo 660 and am using Garmin Roadtrip on a Mac. I am having trouble uploading routes to the device. Someone sent me a GPX file and I was able to get that onto the device. I tried making some routes on my own but have been unable to get them to appear onto the device. If anyone is using this gps/computer combo, any advice would be much appreciated. I plan on having a buddy send me another gpx to see if it will load. BTW I have an 8gb micro sd card in it and tried putting the gpx on the card and into the internal memory. No joy either way.
  20. I did test #1 on synth oil with 2,700 miles on it, and it looks really good, according to this test method. I used the back of a standard business card. Pretty cool! file:///C:/Users/HPPAVI%7E1/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot.pngfile:///C:/Users/HPPAVI%7E1/AppData/Local/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.png
  21. Is there anyone willing to order this attachment for me a have it shipped to a US address (border services). If you order it on-line and just change the shipping details you wouldnt even have to touch the thing. We can work out how I am gonna get you the cash. I cant order the thing because my credit card is Canadian of course and they want a US address to put the billing info on. I already have the base for the thing and just need the adaptor that fits on top. Thanks
  22. My wife had to take a neighbor to see her Dr. today and she left me home alone with the credit card. MISTAKE !! I've been contemplating for several weeks and today I finally did it while she was gone. I bought the Garmin 1490T with the life time update card and a second lifetime card for my Zumo 550 on the bike. Lotta money - (about $500 ) but it's worth it just for the blue tooth. Last week I had to make a near 2000 mile trip alone and the phone never stopped. It always makes me nervous to answer the phone while driving but it's even worse when you have to call someone that's NOT in your phone book. Maybe I'm just getting too old for that OR maybe I'm finally getting a LITTLE smarter Now if I can stay outta site for a while - - - -
  23. Just wanted to say thank you to you and LuAnn for the beautiful home made card I received. The verse that is printed on the background of the card happens to be my favourite Irish prayer, and I carry a card with it on in my wallet all the time!! THANK YOU & GOD BLESS

  25. My oldest rigs motherboard failed, and I'm not gonna replace it. So, I have a nice 1.26S/P3 CPU and 512mb of Kingmax PC150. The KM is PC133 RAM that will do 150fsb. Both parts were the bomb back in the day. I also have a Ti4400 vid card,a sound card and a NIC or two laying around. Plus I have some other stuff too...a case, another vid card. more SDRAM. You want it? Just pay for shipping. This stuff would build a badass garage computer. If you have a socket 370 MB that suports the Tutalian P3 CPUs'
